venti is not manipulative and a liar. unless you decide nuance is obsolete and hiding and omitting information based on goals, even if said goals are kind, is manipulative and lying. in which case yes, absolutely, he's manipulative and a liar!

but in MY opinion, venti is the god of freedom and everything about him is layered in free will, the desire to love, and the motif of carrying a torch of hope. he literally took on the form of his best friend to carry them with him, to keep their memory alive. he is constantly playing around and being cheeky not to be manipulative, but to keep a lightness to his adventures. to stay hopeful, to spread gentleness, to be an archon that protects but from afar. he keeps his distance from people because he doesn't want to influence them in any way directly, he wants them to be free, just like the wind.

i think that's the antithesis of manipulative and lying, don't you?
