It Was Fitting That This Was Taking Place In The Freezing Rain. Cold As Elizabeth Was, As She Had Been

It was fitting that this was taking place in the freezing rain. Cold as Elizabeth was, as she had been for years. She had been cold since the day Jennifer had left her in that park a couple of weeks after her father died, she slept in the tubes and slides for days waiting for Jennifer to come back before someone finally realized she had been staying there. The cold of those nights was still something she felt deep in her bones when she realized everyone left her behind. No one ever wanted her. Not the families who said they did, only to return her weeks later because she wouldn't talk. Or the system that could care less if she was okay or not wherever she went. Not the teachers in the multiple schools she needed to transfer to. Nor the counselors who failed to see that she was failing because of the situation life had thrown at her. Not because she was stupid. No one had ever cared.
Kobe had and she had waited for him to leave, pushed him to leave, like everyone else did, only for her to realize that it wasn't what she wanted. She wanted him. She loved him. She didn't want him to be another name on that long list of people who left.
The warmth of his jacket on her shoulders snapped her out of all of it. The bad memories were chased away as looked up at him, hazel eyes blurred through tears. As she held on tightly to him, the warmth of his body drove the the chill from her bones away. Kissing him with all the passion that she had in her, all the love she hid from him. Elizabeth arms wrapped around him, held onto him as if a life preserver in the ocean she was drowning in. As he began to move the two of them from the rain back into her house, she chanted whispers of I love you and I’m so sorry, like a prayer in between kisses. Willing and ready to do anything to show how much she did.

He was going to leave... even he had his limits, but seeing her there, seeing her in the rain and hearing the words that she spoke, he knew then that he'd never be able to actually go through with it. Threaten it, yes... but he'd be crazy to leave somebody as wonderful as Elizabeth. Yes she had her issues, yes she pushed him away and kept him on a leash for all this time... but he could forgive her for all of that.
He was just glad that she was kissing him back. He couldn't help the arousal he felt at the contact, always so easily riled up by her, he simply couldn't help it. Seeing her shiver as she made her promise, Kobe doesn't hesitate to shrug out of the leather jacket he wore, draping it over her shoulders with a wry smile.
"...Good.." was all he was able to say on the matter before he was kissing her again. Dipping down, his hands come to rest just below her ass, scooping her up into his arms so that her legs wrapped around him... and with his mouth still urgently kissing her, he moved them back towards the building proper.
It was time to get her out of the rain.

When they finally were safe, gone from the corridors of the pyramid and the four safe from danger did Charlie finally breath. Finally relax, if slightly. As they made their way through the hotel that Ashley and AJ procured for them, he wanted nothing more than to inspect his best friend. To confirm for himself that she was alive. But Rafe would not leave her side, not since they left. He knew that there was no way he'd be able to now, so he focused instead on something else. The woman he had come to love.
Opening the room for the key that he was given at check in, he wasted no time pressing his lips against hers. Closing the door behind them as he pressed her against the wall. Hands groped at her pants, lips pressed hard against hers, tongue licking at her lips. The fact that he might have lost her too was not far from his mind and he would take whatever time they had now loving every part of her. "I need these off of you now." He groaned as he tugged at the belt and fumbled with the button on her jeans.

I’m listening to a book for a book club and I had to stop and laugh because someone just said “will you kindly shut the fuck up” and I was not expecting it and the whole discord chat is now up in arms because we are laughing at it. Oh man.
But now I’m thinking bioshock
"Stop it," Elizabeth giggled, as she walked into the elevator. Brett's hands tickled her sides as he tried to grab her and pull her against him again. "Let's get to the room first!"
This long-distance thing was harder than she thought it would be but it helped that whenever he had a break in between games and she in between press, they could sneak moments here and there. This being one of them.
The loving rugby player flew out to California while she did the West Coast tour of her latest book to see her. Having been on his best behavior when they met with her father for dinner, he now would hold back no longer.
Taking his hand, she led him into the elevator only to find her back against one of the walls as soon as she pressed the button of their floor. His lips against hers, a small moan dropped from her lips. There was no denying that she missed him physically as much as she just missed him at all. Her body replied on memory alone, leg wrapping around his waist as her hands snaked up under his shirt. "Baby, we're almost there." Her voice already dripping with lust, knowing full well that they most likely would not make it to the room at all.
