Camp Hope had been just that. Hope. It had restored it. The place was fortified and everyone contributed what they could, working the crops, working guard duty and even volunteering for supply runs when desperation for things that they could not grow or do without came up.

That was how he had found himself apart from Sila the longest they had been since the world had fallen apart. He volunteered for the next run seeing as someone else had injuried their leg running from shamblers the previous time. Things had taken a turn for the worse. The medical supply building that they had their sights on had been surrounded by shamblers the moment they had walked in. What was supposed to be only a couple of days turned into weeks as the team had to outsmart their way out. He missed the place that Sila had come to call their own. It was almost as big as the cabin they had spent some time in and it was nice to have privacy of their own. He wanted nothing more than to lay in their bed with her for days now after this.

Making it past the camps front fence, he began to look for her in the faces welcoming them back. It didn't take long, he heard his name being called out by a someone coming towards them. Sila! She was rushing past everyone else, coming straight towards him, dropping his pack, he met her half way. The force of her into his arms almost knocking him over as his lips met hers and his arms pulled her close to him.

❝ I’ve missed you so much. ❞ He whispered against her lips as he clung to her.

Adan for his part just smiled and took the compliments and cheering on gracefully. Just thanking everyone and saying that nothing was set in stone yet. There was still one more round of preliminaries before they got word if they'd be on or not. Things that Alejandra knew of course from listening to her twin fill her in at the end of the day.

And there it was, she had forgotten all about her and Mayaken's mothers' condition. Typical. Was all she could think as she let the bitterness wash over her. She wanted nothing more than to be by her brothers side as he accomplished this journey of his. Having always been the introverted one, she was glad he was finally growing into himself. But their mother needed her, she couldn't leave, when one wasn't there, the other had to be for the lucid moments.

Smiling back at Scarlet, she could see Noemi giving her the glance. The one that she reserved for Alejandra when she was taking it too far but it didn't matter to her now. ❝ Oh, how silly of you to forget, Lettie. Our mom can't be left alone, one of us have to be with her. I have to stay if they go through. Just like he isn't a dinner tonight because he's with Mom now. But I can see how you might forget that, you've been gone a while. ❞ She knew she should stop, but she couldn't not now. ❝ ¿Después de todo quiénes somos si dejamos atrás a quiene amamos y nos necesitan? ¿Verdad, tía? ❞

Pushing back her chair, she smiled at everyone. ❝ I should go and check on my brother and make sure he has dinner too. Night. ❞

"you're going to make it through." scarlet was confident about that. Adan was an amazing cook. "You and Mayaken are amazing cooks. you're charismatic, and cute too. they'll be dumb not to pick you."

She listened to Alejandra. a part of her wanted to stir the pot, flip the chaos a bit and say something like how Adan could take her and Mayaken can take Adan's mom, leaving Alejandra out but she had to keep telling herself be nice. stop it. be good for Adan. for Adan. so she sucked it up. "You're gonna take your ma right?" she asked. "and Mayaken can take Alejandra." she smiled at Alejandra, assuming this was what she was trying to get at. Scarlet wasn't there when he applied, so she didnt get to be apart of it now. or maybe she was projecting a bit, needing someone else to blame for her own insecurities. .
