me and you + you and me
I've noticed within various conversations that 'us' as a pronoun is very intimate. This is easier to spot in this new age of seeing a baby deer and cat cuddling and comparing them to your own relationship with someone, a new wave of bonding- and within this context, I think the word 'us' holds something very delicate and deep. It's easy to say me and you, as both parties are still their own entities and hold that certain independence and separation. But when one uses 'us', the parties are merged into one collective unit. I almost hesitate to say 'us', deleting it quickly and replacing it with the former, a fear of that casual intimacy. I think this simple change represents something larger, with both platonic and romantic relationships. does this make any sense....please let me know..
