"but they both dated men!" Shut up Jared! These are two very queer woman, Kryptonians are all bi (as we know from comics) and Lena wears to many suits! Just let them be happy and fuck off

@sapphic-shipper recently made a masterful post highlighting all the ways the show Supergirl has (intentionally or unintentionally) coded Kara and Lena as romantic. One of the things they mentioned that I’ve never really thought about is the classic bridal-style carry Kara does with Lena, which I wanted to examine more closely.

(I mean obviously I’ve thought about it a lot but not in relation to how Kara carries other people.)

Supergirl carries a lot of her friends/family members/etc. throughout the show. She has a sort of characteristic way of carrying each person.

image
image

The people in the show clearly put thought into it, because the way teen Kara carries teen Alex is the same way adult Kara carries adult Alex – holding her by her side with one arm, both on equal footing.

image

When Kara saves James and Winn from falling off CatCo at the end of series 1, she does the same one-arm carry with them that she does with Alex (I realize this is affected by the fact that she has to catch both of them, but I think it’s the only time she is ever shown carrying them on the show, and I still feel it was a deliberate choice to have her carry them in that way).

image

Compare that with how Kara carries Lena the first time. Like… I don’t know what to say I think it speaks for itself. It’s much more intimate. Plus, whenever Kara carries Lena, Lena always puts her arms around Kara.

image

Even when Lena is unconscious from poison, she still has the characteristic arm around Kara. The only other person I could find who does that is Cat Grant, when Kara saves her from falling from the plane. Even then, it’s short-lived. And like, I totally understand that if someone saved you from falling out of a plane or off a building or something, you would be scared and probably wrap your arms around them to make sure you don’t fall. But the thing is, the only one who really does that is Lena.

image

Even when Kelly falls from a building and is saved by Kara, Kelly doesn’t put an arm around Kara to steady herself. It’s much less intimate, even in the way Kara holds her.

image

Contrast that with THIS picture of Lena and Kara. Lena is literally clinging to Kara, and Kara holds her physically closer than she does other people. It gives off major bridal carry vibes and we all know it.

Basically, the way Supergirl carries Lena is deliberately more intimate than the way she carries anyone else.

If this isn't the truth I don't know what is.

The writers are cowards and we deserve SO MUCH BETTER.

Before this season of Supergirl starts, I’ve seen a lot of posts about Supercorp and fans hoping they make it canon even if ever so subtly like a hand hold such as Korrasami at the end, and honestly let me say that is BULLSHIT. LGBTQ+ fans have been BEGGING the writers to make Supercorp canon for what’s going to be 5 YEARS now, and after much much thought I am convinced the only reason they won’t do it is because they’re homophobic. If it’s about it being a family show or not wanting it to be inappropriate, well let me say that the fans that started watching the show young are now old enough to know what they want. The show has a lesbian couple and a transgender woman so any homophobe or conservative person that was watching is probably long gone by now. The LGBTQ fans are the ones watching every episode, going to Comic Cons and other events, buying their promotional products, trending Supergirl on Twitter and giving it its fame and therefore have allowed the show to continue airing, making money, and keeping every writer and producer employed while they refuse to serve the fans what they want. And fans are still only begging for a hint of a relationship? Korrasami ended in 2014 and here they are 7 years later begging for crumbs? For what? Fans deserve better, they deserve the relationship they’ve been blatantly requesting for more than 4 years, not a hand hold, not a hint of a relationship or a subtle relationship or a mediocre ending. They deserve nothing short of a season spent making Supercorp happen in a honest and caring way. The show-runners know, they KNOW what the fans want and they also know that they can strand fans along by queerbating the absolute shit out of LGBTQ+ fans which is what they’ve been knowingly doing. It’s not ignorance (it’s not that they don’t know how much it matters to the fans or they don’t know the push for Supercorp exists), it’s not being imagined by all the fans. and it’s not coincidental that so many things seem gay between Lena and Kara (ranging from Superman-Lois parallels, complimentary wardrobe, romantic music during their scenes, romantic lines, romantic coded scenes, and the list goes on and on). They KNOW what they’re doing and it’s fucking despicable. And LGBTQ+ fans deserve so much fucking better. And IF they don’t give it to them, fans should REBEL. Fans should burn their reputation to the fucking ground. I want to say they will. They will let everyone know to keep away from the writers or the producers or anyone that doesn’t make the right choice for the LGBTQ+ fans. Fans will expose them as the homophobes they are and will show the show-runners that their LGBTQ+ fans are not toys to be played with, that their feelings and opinions matter whether they like them or not and should be listened to. Fans will let them know how they feel and Supergirl will go down as the biggest queerbait show of the decade. I really really hope they make it happen and they give the fans what they deserve. They shouldn’t even accept a rushed thing if they decide to do it, because that will only show how little respect they have for the LGBTQ+ community. So I’ll keep hope for this coming season, may the LGBTQ+ fans get the beautiful and incredible love story they deserve.

Finally someone who does the same shit I do. BC who has time for the queerbaiting and bad storylines? I'm here for happy couples, occasional Angst and the gays.

Also ABO terrifies me

I know the fandom is all over the place thinking about the synopsis of 6x01 and all its potential angst and wish lists for supercorp, but honestly, I don't watch the show and just read the fanfictions.

So that must be why I can only think about how 6x07 is named
