"It was nice working with you." He says and gives you a smug smirk. Your confused, you just finished a mission and he began to act so weird. You suddenly feel a sharp pain in your chest, blood starts to pour out staining the cement crimson. You immediately fall to your knees, only to be met up from above with his sadistic smile.

"W-what" Is all that leaves your lips. You feel shocked, no, more than shocked. He.. Your mission partner of 1 year had shot you.

"I thought you would figure out my true intentions with your intellect, but I guess I'm wrong." He smirks bending to your level as you shoot him a venomous stare. He had.. betrayed you.

"All those missions meant nothing to you? All those politicians we killed together?" You spit out, hot blood rushing through you, your eyes brimming with burning tears. A knot grows in your throat, making it impossible for you to express the extent of his betrayal.

"I never thought you were the one for sappy bullshit." He remarks and you want to slap him hard. An unfiltered rage, a rage that leads one to murder. But you can't, the bleeding doesn't stop it further leads you to your demise.

"I.. I trusted you." You muttered, at this point you couldn't control your tears anymore letting them fall, hitting the hard concrete.

"Well, you shouldn't have." He laughed heartlessly before walking away. Leaving you to your inevitable death.

So.. this is how nearing death feels like? You've killed hundreds of people in your lifetime but this is how it feels to be the one getting killed. For the first time your the prey. And.. as your nearing the end of your life, you feel somewhat peaceful as if all the rage dissolved. Your back meets the cold concrete as you sigh, eyes meeting the stars. A cold gust of wind blows and you laugh weakly. You find solace in your ending moments. The moment before you meet your doomed fate.

FLASHBACK

"Why do you keep fighting?" Hoshi your annoying mission partner asked, taking a seat on the unwashed couch in the gym.

"If I don't fight I'm weak." You replied, hands balled into fists as you punched the punching bag for the 30th time.

"That's a basic reason, I thought you were going to say some cool shit." He jokes and you let out a dry laugh.

"Damn you kwon.." You curse him, voice weak and unsteady. The question lingers in your mind, "why do you keep fighting?" You hate to admit it but since he asked, you had been thinking about it. And now when your inches away from deaths cold embrace you find your answer.

"Junhui? Are you serious?"

"Of course. It doesn't matter what time of day or what I'm doing. Whenever you are ready to run, I'll be there."

Today was supposed to be the day you ran away, away from the judgment, scrutiny, and abuse that your parents had inflicted onto you. But somehow they found out, and were intent on trying to keep you bound to the shackles of their control. 

Narrowly avoiding your mother’s hands that were trying to grab you, you hurriedly ran into your room. You slammed the door, locking it and holding onto the handle tightly as you felt someone on the other side try to force their way in. Frantically throwing your window open, you hesitated a little when you saw the height that you would have to jump from, but when you heard your door being busted open, you hardened your resolve and jumped. 

Landing on the grass with a loud thud, you ran towards the side street where your boyfriend, Junhui, was waiting on his motorcycle. Upon seeing your panicked form approaching with two figures emerging from your house behind you, he revved the engine in preparation to allow you both a swift escape. Once you swung your legs over the backseat and clung onto his waist tightly, you were off. 

For a while, you both rode in silence. Then, the adrenaline, your inner conflict about whether or not you should have left, the built up emotions of fear, pain, and most of all, relief that you were finally free bubbled over. Unable to keep your tears from streaming down any longer, you buried your face in Junhui’s back and sobbed. Feeling the wet tears on his back, he pulled over to the side of the road. He twisted himself so he was facing you and pulled you into a tight hug. 

When your tears finally subsided, you muttered a soft, “thank you Junhui, for really being here, for helping me to run away. I know you were busy and I was asking for a lot.”

Humming, Junhui cupped your face and used his thumbs to swipe away the last of your tear drops. As gently as possible, he replied, “hey, I was serious when I said I would be here regardless of what I was doing.”

Giving your forehead a quick kiss, Junhui continued, “So, now that you are free, where would you like to go? We could go anywhere. We can go for a drive, grab a bite, or if you prefer, we could go home?”

Home. You haven’t had the feeling of being at home in a long time. Home is a place you feel safe, loved, protected. You always wondered where home was. But now, being with Junhui, the one who had helped to swoop you away, the one who was looking at you with tender eyes, you just knew. 

Leaning into Junhui’s chest, you said, “It doesn’t matter where we go. I’m already home with you.”

"what time is it.." you wake up looking around, sun melting into the sea, bright hues of pink, red, and orange visible.

"5pm darling, let's go.." he gently says, eyes focused on your half dazed expression. you slowly get up from his comforting chest, already missing the warmth.

and by the time you fully return to consciousness he's already done folding the picnic blanket, placing it into the basket carefully. your eyes trace his beautiful silhouette and when he's done he returns to you with a smile. picnic basket in one hand and your hand in the other.

The sun almost takes offence to your thought making it's rays brighter, somewhow. You squint your eyes turning your head to see someone beside you. Someone sleeping very peacefully, it's your boyfriend seungcheol. If only people knew how much you loved this man, too much to be describe in mere words. And, your doing it again, admiring him. Who could even blame you, he was perfect.

"Baby, your looking again." Seungcheol said voice laced with sleep, he was clearly in a fight between sleep and consciousness. His hair was all ruffled and his dimples were showing, were you getting butterflies at 10am? Yes you were.

"You can't blame me." You pouted only resulting in a soft chuckle from him.

He inched closer to you, arm draped around your waist as he whispered softly in your ear. "Oh, yes I can."

"The adjective pretty should only belong to you baby." He murmured as you felt his calloused hand cupping your cheeks.

"Your wrong," You muttered.

Seungcheol only snickered placing his other hand under your chin to lift it, meeting his gaze. "You know I'm right,"

"Are you?" You taunted, only to be met with a sly but soft smirk resting on his face. He definitely plotted something, you knew he had been learning from Jeonghan recently.

"l am." He responded coyly before he pressed a soft kiss to your lips. You always got butterflies every time.

"I won todays morning kiss! try harder next time!" He snickered as you pretended to sigh in defeat. There he was, your playful husband.

"Not fair! Did Jeonghan tell you to do this?" You responded in feign annoyance, rolling your eyes.

"Yep!" He bragged in excitement, eyes practically shining.

"Well, I'll take the second morning kiss then!" You replied with an edge of competitiveness in your voice as you gave him a soft peck. He got all giddy the feeling of your warm lips on his.

"Unfair!"

"Definitely fair."
