I will forever be infuriated by the fact that they never did anything with Foeslayer being a soldier. Her name is FOESLAYER for moons' sakes! There's so much potential there!

Not to mention the drama. Like, Arctic is already not into this whole war thing, but his wife actually physically going into war and killing his people??? DRAAAMAAA. Not to mention the stories Icewings would come up with about her. It would make sense for such a dragon to be able to kidnap one of their royals, no? And the fact that her deployments would mean that Darkstalker and Whiteout spend more time with their father.

I want Foeslayer rapidly climbing the ranks due to her military prowess. I want Arctic to start wondering if his wife has been using him against his own Queendom. They were both raised in politics after all, it would make sense that she could manipulate if she chose to. I want that growing tension. I want no resolution. Foeslayer leaves for her service as usual, but this time a different Nightwing is at the door after the battle.

Imagine if instead of the whole argument, Foeslayer is lost on the battlefield. Maybe one of Darkstalker's spells to keep her safe failed or Queen Diamond found a way around the enchantment. Hell, maybe it was a regular soldier who accidentally found a loophole through the protection magic with a lucky slash.

In any case, there's no one to blame. In the books, we know for sure it was Queen Diamond cause it couldn't have been anyone else. And for whatever reason Darkstalker chooses to hate on all Icewings instead of the one person he knows is responsible for his mom's presumed death. But if Foeslayer was MIA (or dead, I haven't decided yet) and no one can give a clear description of what happened? And since there's no one to blame, Darkstalker blames the whole Icewing nation?? gimme.

WOF Dragon Taxonomy

I was kind of thinking of doing a semi rewrite of the WoF backstory / lore. No new species would look as different as Wof dragons do in that short amount of time (come on drastically different dragons in roughly 5k years?). For my rewrite I'd say the scorching was actually at least 1 million years before the first book starts. Probably still not enough for the drastic changes, though since the different tribes can still breed with each other (hybrids exist after all) I would say they're either still the same species (or subspecies) or closely enough related because breeding (with fertile offspring) is still possible.

I'd also say Nightwing, Icewings, and Skywings existed in some form when the scorching happened since I believe they're the "common ancestors" for most of the other tribes.

Since I believe the dragons are subspecies of an "original" species of dragon that existed way before the scorching here are some hypothetical scientific names! The basic scientific name for all of them would be Draco Sapien (The Wise Dragon). Here is the list:

Nightwings: Draco Sapien Noctis (Wise Dragon of the Night)

Icewings: Draco Sapien Nivis (Wise Dragon of the Snow)

Skywings: Draco Sapien Caeli (Wise Dragon of Heaven, just thought this sounded cool)

Mudwings: Draco Sapien Terrae (Wise Dragon of the Earth)

Sandwings: Draco Sapien Solis (Wise Dragon of the Sun) or Draco Sapien Desertum (Wise Dragon of the Desert) Couldn't choose between the two.

Rainwings: Draco Sapien Silvae (Wise Dragon of the Forest)

Seawings: Draco Sapien Maris (Wise Dragon of the Sea)

Hivewings: Draco Sapien Wasp (Wise Wasp Dragon, since they kinda look like wasps)

Silkwings: Draco Sapien Serico (Wise Silk Dragon)

Leafwings: Draco Sapien Folium (Wise Leaf Dragon)

Wow, that was a lot. I'm not exactly a professional in species names, but I tried my best. I would say the WOF dragons would be most closely related to Birds! They're definitely reptiles, and I think it makes the most sense for them to be related to Birds. So WOF dragons would be part of the Archosauria (Ruling Reptiles) Clade which in the real world is made up of Birds and Crocodiles. For extinct members, it also includes Non-Avian Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and extinct Croc species. In my opinion, the WOF dragons would technically be more closely related to Dinosaurs, but their closest living relative would be birds (which are dinosaurs technically).

Did Dinosaurs even exist in the WOF universe? I mean, birds are a thing so I'm guessing that's the case.

Before I read Wind, I just want to say that I freaking LOVE FrostWhistle. I think Thunder gave me the most shipping fuel for this ship. The way Frostpaw, even in this paranoid "I can't trust anyone" state, she still lets Whistlepaw treat her wounds. She still trusts Whistlepaw not to tell her mentor about helping her. She trusts Whistlepaw, even if she wouldn't admit it.

Whistlepaw keeps the fact that Frostpaw is still alive a secret because she knows that's what Frostpaw wants. Even if Whistlepaw cannot stand lying to her whole clan she still helps Frostpaw in secret. She lies for Frostpaw. She helps Frostpaw fake her death even if she's hesitant.

I know all these things don't scream romance to some people, and obviously it probably is all platonic to the writers. But I just freaking love this ship, it's so cute. Maybe too cute.

Anyways. Time to read Wind.

A guide to how I represent certain roles via their eyes. (Characters from Left to Right are: Dawnpelt, Shadowsight, Tigerstar II)

Regular Warriors (which includes Queens, Elders, and Deputies): Normal eyes. Just normal. Lol

Medicine cat: White pupils to make them look more Starclan like. When they have visions their white pupils turn blue

Leaders: White Outline around Pupils. I just thought this was a cool leader mark. All Leaders have this mark + some other unique leader mark (ex: Tigerstar II got cute heart freckles on his face!)

SEVERELY confused by this as they didn't make Silverstream fat. They made her BUFF not fat. Jesus Christ. They didn't make her fat this is the dumbest crap I've ever heard.

man like I'm all for canon fat cats in adaptations but silverstream in particular is getting me. of all the characters in warrior cats u pick the one that spent almost her entire adult life in a famine, whose death was caused by blood loss, something that is exacerbated by anemia which is a symptom of STARVING TO DEATH!!!!

I'm beginning to believe nobody read the books or if they did they're hellbent on their fanwork not extrapolating from existing elements (how terrible and impactful would it be if greystripe was giving her food and desperately trying to keep her alive only for it to not work in the end?), but instead making warriors' plot points more meaningless than they already are. The famine in fire and ice was a major plot point and fireheart describing how horrifyingly sickly silverstream looked was one of the only memorable parts of that book. it'd be a fine design on its own if it didn't imply just how little anyone cared about the source material. idk not reading the book you're adapting is kinda clown shit to me but what do I know
