Dear Florists and Botanists, if a singing carnivorous plant shows up on your doorstep during the total eclipse of the sun….
THEN KILL IT. FUCKING KILL THAT SHIT. DO NOT FUCK AROUND. KILL, MAIM, GET THE WEEDKILLER.
This. There's such a big safety culture around aviation formed over the past 120 years, and while it was unfortunately formed from the blood of tens of thousands, the result is that millions are able to fly anywhere across the globe with no issues.
While many are skeptical of Boeing, the reality is that problems only occurred on one out of millions of flights each day. Your chance of being on a flight that has problems is astronomically small, and even then, pilots are TRAINED rigorously (source: am student pilot) to make sure that they get their passengers safely on the ground as fast as possible. The last time a Boeing passenger plane crashed was in 2022, and that was pilot suicide in a perfectly airworthy, perfectly working 737.
Fun aside: planes are capable of withstanding 250% of the worst weather Earth has. Turbulence can maybe upset your stomach, but your flight can breeze through it easily.
Aviation really is one of humanity's best endeavors.
when something bad happens, everyone within radio range drops whatever they're doing to help
entire regions will voluntarily clear themselves of traffic to accommodate a single passenger aircraft in trouble
after an air disaster, the rules are reviewed to see if there was anything that could be done to prevent the disaster, and if so the rules are changed
with a few exceptions, pretty much any aircraft from any country on earth can communicate with and land at any foreign airport
YOU.
