Just so you know I'm an ancient history nerd with a passion for archeology, that's why she belongs to basically a pre historical fantasy.

Her history takes place in about 10.000 years ago in a remote island in Central America near a volcano where it was fertile enough for settled and grow a complex civilization called Penenk'ak. The whole society is based on Mayan and Olmec civilization so they're kinda sexist but they do have complex art and the beginnings of writing

Her chosen name is the name of her mother figure, which is a tupi guarani name (a indigenous group (group because there's multiple tribes spread all over Brazil) from South America), it means "sky". The name she was born with is Ixik Ch'ko Yol, which translate roughly to "little princess Yol".

She's the only child of the chief, that's why she has the tattoo, it's like a power symbol. She has a bad relationship with her dad because he didn't really raise her, he just let the servents take care of her and when she came of age (14 y/o) he made her marry the son of the best warrior (who is 22y/o). Also he sacrificed her mother figure on her 17 birthday which led her to ran away from home and go to the woods beyond the sea with a next to zero survival skills.

She's found by a traveling tribe who decides to help her to not die. In the tribe there's one person who's blessed, which means they have a connection with the gods so they can understand what Iwa says, and they're a little shit so it takes a while for them and Iwa to get along, but they become reluctant friends. In the end, Iwa's husband comes after her and she agrees to go back to Penenk'ak with him after he makes a proposes to help her kill the chief (her father), he's a manipulating her a bit but she doesn't mind. She takes Akan (the blessed one) and their brother, a poor little guy who's going just to make sure Akan doesn't die.

For a TLDR: She's basically an angry little 18 y/o who's trying to kill her father with the help of her two recent acquired friends who saved her from dying in the forest when she ran away from home.
