Every time I reread the hunger games (and it’s been a while until now) I’m struck by just *how* smart peeta is- he always knows *exactly* how to sway an audience to his favor and has the whole country eating out of the palm of his hand from the beginning

I mean declaring his love for katniss on live tv?? Seeing the games for what they were from the beginning and “not wanting to be a piece in their games”?? Pulling out “if it weren’t for the baby” the night before the quarter quell and having even the capitol people practically revolting trying to stop the games??

And also the way he saw the games for what they were and was practically a full on rebel from day 1?? Like he really went into those first games thinking about staying true to himself and not wanting to lose himself to the capitol’s manipulation (don’t even mention mockingjay to me rn 😭😭)

Absolutely no one is doing it like peeta mellark let’s put some respect on his name
