iideku fic recs!

i have long since been a fan of iideku, so with the recent new manga chapter sparking a lot of interest in the ship, here are my fic recs!

Go (sort of) out with me!- fake dating, super fluffy, 7k

a gold star for chocolate stars- valentine's day fic, minor background relationships, 2k

Examiee 7111- soulmate au! it's a soulmate timer au, and as we all know iida and midoriya first met in some very hilarious circumstances for this to occur! 8k

Late Bloomer- also a soulmate au, but one that corresponds to when you get your quirk. 37k, ongoing!

His hand in mine- a VERY cute fic with iida coming to terms with his feelings towards midoriya that i always read when i'm down. 4k

My Angel- a fic that @lunethwrites wrote for my birthday, and that i loved so much that i wrote a corresponding fic! it involves izuku falling from the sky and landing in iida's farm, and growing to love the world around him while coming to terms with his new statis as a wingless angel. its SUPER cute!!! 2k

This is the coolest thing ever, a great way to help people without making them ask, and an amazing reuse of a the card catalog. I’m seriously about to cry I love it so much.

- You are the only one capable of building complex, planned structures. You are alone. You don’t remember building the temples or houses you come across.

- Villagers keep their hands clasped beneath long robes. You’ve never seen a villager’s hand. Sometimes you wonder if they have them at all.

- The villagers all have the same empty green eyes. They have completely different anatomy from you. They’re humanoid, but not human. Are you?

- The undead, however, have your face and your clothes. They seem closer to you than the villagers.

- You’re alone. You are the only one like you in the world.

- All caves are the same. You’ve been in a ravine like this one. Maybe you’ve been in this ravine. You’ve visited it countless times. No matter which way you turn, you stumble into it.

- No matter which way you turn, there’s more caves. Sometimes there’s torches. You’ve been here. You still can’t get out. Sometimes there’s not torches. Sometimes you give up escape and decide to explore ever deeper.

- You wonder if you’ve ever seen the surface, or if you were born in these caves with a vibrant imagination.

- You are the only living thing in this world. 

- You come across dusty, abandoned mineshafts and rusty minecarts with loot at the bottom. You don’t remember building these or leaving anything behind. You wouldn’t shore up the walls with wooden posts. You know this world better than that.

- Then why does shoring up the walls seem logical? You don’t remember a world before this one. Why does this one feel so strange, sometimes even irrational?

- You’re alone. You are the only one like you in the world. You’re being watched. 

- The caves aren’t yours. You’re the only one in them, but they’re not yours. They belong to something else - someone else, and you both know it.

- You’re alone in the world. You’re not alone in the caves. Their breathing and occasional humming echo in the stony corridors.

- Maybe the caves themselves are breathing. Singing.

- You are the only living thing in this world. The world itself, however, is alive.

- You make up stories for everything you build. You forget they’re just stories.

- The world sings to you. You clutch its music close and hope it never stops. In the silence after each song, you’re alone.

- You’re alone. You are the only one like you in the world, for this world is honest. You are being watched, for you are not.

- The world exists to for you to live in it, and you think it resents that.

“He’s kind of plain looking.” Well I just realized something amazing about this kid. Izuku’s only “plain” when he’s undetermined and inactive. In other words, when he’s unhappy. 

When he’s anxious, stuttering, shrinking in on himself, of course he’s easy to overlook. And yet on every single instance outside of feeling negative and sliding under the radar people fricking fall in love with this kid. 

All Might watched him make one (1) shaky little smile in the face of mortal peril and decided to adopt him. Iida saw him risk life and limb to save someone and decided to stan forever. Uraraka was that someone he saved and after fighting alongside him and listening to his life goals her admiration shot straight into crush territory. Todoroki. Melissa. The entirety of Class 1A. Literally all of the children.

Everyone Izuku meets and stands witness to him now that he is legitimately flourishing is charmed and subsequently hooked. People like Sir Nighteye and Bakugou, both of whom belittled his efforts and thus diminished him, are only immune because they have preconceived beliefs about Izuku as a person that are flawed if not wholly false.

Izuku is not overlooked because he’s plain. He was plain when he was overlooked. And I think that’s why his great, charming yet simplistic character design is so appealing. We’ve had time to love him and learn him and we’ve seen him from his lows to his lowers to his spectacular heights. Iconic.
