An illustration inspired by the 2005 game Pathologic Classic HD and by a line of dialogue spoken by the Inquisitor to the Bachelor that referenced one of his lectures on reanimation.

The Bachelor, smiling with emphasis, is reanimating the corpse of a dead woman strapped to an operating table. He gestures at his blackboards and diagrams on the human brain as an electrical apparatus tied to the woman's bandaged head sends stylized lightning bolts all across the illustration.
The scene is set in an anatomical theatre in the Thanatica. In the higher rows of the theatre other Capital-dwellers witness the scene: the Stamatin architect twins Peter and Andrey, the Inquisitor Aglaya Lilich and the mathematician Yulia Lyuricheva.
Executors can be seen in the background and foreground as well, overlooking it all.
Three red bone hands emerge from the bottom of the illustration, and two small vignettes on the lefthand side depict a screaming, distorted face (the reanimation itself) and the skeleton of a snake (the Bachelor).
"I Attended Your Lecture- You Demonstrated A Reanimated Lady. Three Years Ago At Lamarka's. [...] You

Monochromatic red watercolor painting of Daniil Dankovsky from Pathologic, The Marble Nest. He's shown from the waist up, standing in the Cathedral with his head turned to the right. He's wearing Executor's robes and holding the bird skull mask off his face with his left hand. The spiky bones and pendants of the robe are covered in blood splatters, as is the mask. The mask doesn't have glowing eyes and appears as an empty skull. Daniil's eyes are closed also, and he has serene yet resolute expression. Behind him are the windows and the walls of the Cathedral, going from translucent red to deep blood color and then to blackness. Above him is the hourglass clock, lacking details, white and glowing. The cables holding the clock in it's place are white as well and cutting the upper part of the picture into separate pieces. There are wide white margins to the left and right of the picture, with black and white silhouettes of birds flying in the distance.
Close up of the black birds and a fragment of the cathedral
Close up of Daniil in the Executor's mask
Close up of the hourglass

This is also a way of conquering death, to return once again to the time petrified.

>painted with charcoal, watercolor, and ink

Five years later, the second part to the Haruspex' poster
