Ingrid Michaelson Definitely Ranks High On The List Of Female Vocalists I Fell In Love With At First
Ingrid Michaelson definitely ranks high on the list of female vocalists I fell in love with at first listen. Others include: Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent, Kina Grannis, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Williams.
There is something about a mastery over both electronic and acoustic aspects of a song and a respectful but explosively beautiful use of vocals that completely floors me. Not every single one of their songs are particularly very unique, nor is everything they do extremely deep. But when they sing, they sing as humans to other humans, and that is what I appreciate the most about music. The ability to express in a different way the words we can't always convey they way we want to. The ability to celebrate the human condition and capture its snapshots without deluding ourselves into thinking that that's all there is to life.
