"Hey Shikamaru, want to see the best way to annoy Naruto?" Kiba says when he sees Naruto eating at the ichiraku.

"You can't see him at peace can you?" Skikaramu says when he sees Kiba's devilish smile.

"Not really" Kiba replies running towards Naruto, and Akamaru follows him.

"Man, how boring." Shikamaru sighs but follows Kiba.

"Hey Naruto, you won't believe who I just met." Kiba says patting Naruto on the back, making him almost choke on his ramen. "

"Who?" Naruto says with his mouth full.

"Y/n! She was training, and she was looking for you." Kiba says sitting next to Naruto, and sees the blonde's eyes light up as soon as he mentions Y/n's name.

"Why didn't you just say so? Bye old man, the ramen was great!" Naruto says throwing some money on the table, and getting up ready to run towards Y/n.

"Bye guys." Naruto says smiling passing by Shikamaru.

"I don't know what he sees in her." Kiba speaks louder, to make sure Naruto hears.

Naruto stops walking at this, and slowly turns to Kiba.

"What did you say?" Naruto is serious, and Kiba lets out a giggle.

"I just told the truth hey, she's not everything you make her out to be." Kiba says this, and Naruto clenches his fists.

"You're talking about the same person who saved you and akamaru a million times, the person who does everything for everyone, the person who fought valiantly to get the kazekage back, and the person who's been putting up with my shit since I was a kid, so I won't let you talk about her like that, I won't!" Naruto yells, making Kiba stop laughing.

"Oh Naruto how annoying, Kiba is just teasing you." Shikamaru crosses his arms.

"It's Naruto, take it easy okay?" Kiba says laughing, and Naruto lets go of him, still a little confused.

"What you mean?" Naruto crosses his arms, still suspicious.

"I wanted to tease you, and I happen to know the best way to do it." Kiba says laughing, and Naruto rolls his eyes.

"Come on Naruto, did you really think Kiba would talk about Y/n like that?" Shikamaru asks.

"Did you really think someone would talk about Y/n like that?" Kiba asks still laughing.

"I don't know what goes through you idiots' heads." Naruto says still a little annoyed.

"I might be a bit of an idiot Naruto, but I'm not blind, and that girl really is something else." Kiba says smiling.

"Okay okay, now I need to go, hey was that true? Was she looking for me myself?"

"No, but she's training, if you run maybe she'll still be there." Kiba speaks, and Naruto runs away.

"After that, I just proved my theories right." Shikamaru speaks with a smug smile on his face.

"And what are they?"

"Naruto is in love, that's all."

"What are you doing here yet?" Shikamaru says when he sees Y/n training at the training ground.

"I'm training." Y/n says sitting on the grass and taking a deep breath.

"You don't need that, you're already strong." He says lying next to her, hands behind his head looking at the stars.

"So why did Genma almost die on our last mission?" Y/n says looking at Shikamaru.

He knew something was wrong, since she came back from her last mission, she was training much more intensely, and staying late into the night like today at the training grounds.

"He almost died because he got distracted, it's not your fault." He says it indifferently, but notices Y/n's sad look.

"I was leading that mission, I had to take care of my colleagues." Y/n says closing her eyes tightly.

"Do you have to babysit them now? You were amazing and the mission was great, Tsunade praises you a lot to the other jonin so stop thinking so much and come lie here with me." Shikamaru says smiling and stretching out an arm so Y/n can lie on top.

Y/n sighs, but obeys, lying on top of Shikamaru's arm looking at the stars.

"You say that, but you always take good care of your teammates." Y/n says after a while of silence.

"Well when you're my teammate I'll always take good care of yourself." Shikamaru says with a cheeky smile, making Y/n smile too and punch him lightly in the chest.

The two get closer to each other and Y/n lifts his head giving Shikamaru a light kiss on the cheek making him close his eyes feeling the affection.

Their relationship was complicated, they liked each other since they were children, they kissed sometimes, whenever they needed help, they ran to each other, but they never talked about it, they never put a label on their relationship.

But seeing Y/n like that, charging herself so much like that, made Shikamaru heartbroken, he knew how amazing and special she was, she was the only one who didn't see it.

"I wanted you to see yourself the way I see you." Shikamaru says after a while in silence.

"What?" Y/n asks looking at Shikamaru.

"You're amazing, you're so badass, you're strong, smart, beautiful, responsible and any village, fuck anyone, would be so lucky to have you." Shikamaru says kissing Y/n's head.

"Stop it Skika." Y/n says feeling her cheeks heat up.

"I'm not going to stop until you realize how amazing you are, and stop punishing yourself like that." Shikamaru says closing his eyes.

"What happened to you today huh?" Y/n says getting up a little to get a grip on Shikamaru's cheeks.

"How boring Y/n, I just don't like to see my girl sad." Shikamaru rolls his eyes, and Y/n sits on the grass smiling.

"Your girl huh?" She says with a huge smile on her face.

"My girl." Shikamaru approaches Y/n's face and gives a light peck on Y/n's lips.

"Thank you for always being here for me Shika." She says giving him another kiss on the lips, this time longer.

"And I will always be here for you." He says lying down again, and pulling her to lie on her chest.

"As I thought, I love her." Shikamaru thinks with a smile on his face.

"What happened there?" Levi says entering Y/n’s office.

"What do you mean? it was great!" Y/n says smiling and finishing packing the papers he needed.

"Do you think your near-death was great?" Levi says closing the door behind him, and crossing his arms.

"Look Levi, I almost died you’re right, but no cadets in my squad were killed! you can’t imagine how happy that makes me." Y/n says smiling, while leaning on the back of the chair with her eyes closed.

"But what about your fucking life?" Levi says raising his voice.

"It’s my duty as a squad leader to protect my cadets and do what I can to keep them alive, even if it costs my life." Y/n says straightening up in his chair, and looking at Levi with a steady gaze.

"Stop, I don’t want to hear this anymore." Levi says approaching the table.

"I’ve been talking to them lately, Levi they all have fathers, mothers, brothers and people who love them so much." Y/n says with a sad smile.

Levi couldn’t believe what he was hearing, she, the love of his life, the person who was always there for him, had just said that her life was the least important thing there, I mean, he never made her feel loved.

"Alright, today was a beautiful day and I’m starving, shall we eat?" Y/n says walking past Levi going to the door, but before opens.

Levi sighed sadly, but followed Y/n to the cafeteria, and during lunch, Levi could only think that Y/n wouldn't be there, she would never know the importance she has in his life, even when she always showed affection and concern by him.

He looked at her sadly, seeing her laughing with Hange, he looked at the cadets at other tables and could see the admiring gaze looking at her

"What is she talking about? Everyone here would die inside if she died." Levi thought.

"Big day guys, get some rest, you deserve it." Erwin says getting up from the table and leaving.

"I still have some paperwork to finish, I'm going too." Y/n says getting up too.

"I'll go with you." Levi says getting up, and going with Y/n side by side to his office.

Levi went to his office, and took the papers he needed going to Y/n's office, this was nothing new for them, often so they wouldn't be alone, one would go to each other's office to keep each other company while they finished the work.

Levi was sitting in a chair leaning against Y/n's desk, he had so much work to do, but he could only think and look at Y/n, he had so many things to say to her, so much love to give her, Levi always he tried to convince himself he had time to confess, but after seeing her almost die in front of him, after hearing the hurtful words she said, Levi realized he shouldn't waste another second of their lives.

"I was worried about you." Levi said suddenly, causing Y/n to look at him with a smile on her face.

"You don't have to worry about me Levi." She says normal making Levi almost freak out

"She doesn't understand what I mean." He thinks.

"You said before that the cadets would be missed, but if you died, you would be missed here more than all of us put together" Levi says and sees Y/n's smile slowly diminish.

"Well...I'm sure if I die, they'll find another great squad leader to replace me." Y/n says going back to signing the papers and Levi is seconds away from grabbing her and making her see how special she is.

"Fuck Y/n, you don't understand." Levi says raising his voice a little, but before Y/n can question, someone knocks on the door.

"You must be kidding." Levi thinks when he hears Y/n yell 'come in' and Eren slowly open the door.

"What happened Eren?" Y/n asks.

"Captain Y/n, Captain Hange is looking for you." Eren says looking at Levi, who is turned around in his chair, facing Eren.

"Well, tell her I'll be right back, thanks Eren." Y/n says already getting up, and Eren closes the door.

"I'll see what Hange wants, so let's talk later." Y/n says smiling and walking past Levi once more, but he's had enough, he won't wait any longer.

"I love you." Levi says still with his back to Y/n, she freezes and looks at him in surprise.

"What did you say?" She asks turning to him.

"I love you, I love you more than myself, so tell me Y/n, what am I going to do if you die?" Levi says turning to Y/n who is still in shock looking at him.

"Today when you almost died, I felt my world fall apart, I can’t live without you Y/n, I can’t." Levi says looking into Y/n’s eyes.

"Levi…"

He gets up from his chair, and walks over to Y/n who is frozen in place.

"Who will I talk to if you die? Who will help me take care of the brats? Who will give me a smile enough to brighten my day? You said they'll easily replace you if you die, but no one can replace you in mine heart Y/n, nobody." Levi says carefully taking Y/n's hand, and gently kissing the back of his hand.

Y/n feels your eyes water and a lump in your throat

"I'm also so afraid of losing you Levi, I don't want to lose you." Y/n says putting his other hand on Levi's cheek, who closes his eyes feeling Y/n's touch.

"Come here." Levi says pulling Y/n into a hug, she squeezes his shoulders, and hides her face in Levi's neck, and he hugs her waist, God, they needed this so much.

"I love you too" She says in his ear, and Levi closes his eyes.

"Let's promise we'll always get back to each other, do you promise?" Levi says pulling away a little, and taking Y/n's face with both hands.

"I promise" Y/n says with a soft smile on her face.

"You promise?" She asks, and gives Levi a kiss on the cheek.

"I promise" Levi gives a slight smile and approaches her face and giving a little kiss on her lips, it was a gentle and affectionate kiss, which conveyed all the love and affection and one felt for the other.

Well, it’s great to have someone to come back to isn’t it?
