Happy 30th anniversary of Robin #1.

On this day in 1993, Azbats tried to strangle Tim in the Cave.

This was generally regarded as a bad decision by all involved.

Dick Grayson has never forgiven JPV for this.

Don’t talk about your mutual Robin in any sort of bad way, JPV, or Dick will FIND YOU.

He’s ALWAYS WATCHING YOU.

i really don't have any plans other than to look at a very respectable distance i can be trusted i swear on my favorite comic character named Marvel Comic Universe Tony Stark that i won't do anything i just have an interest in history and that of which has been left behind or found i wont do anything worse than what the people getting those artifacts and relics and items did to get them here

Me very carefully picking that list:

Zee and Dinah together being probably two of the biggest targets for oversexualisation along with Selina

Diana and Lois issue being about the myriad of things Diana does every day for female empowerment and welfare that are overlooked

Kate's Manhunter run being about a woman who decides the system has let people down one too many time and decides to kill, and then how she justifies breaking her oath over that

Chase being about the feeling of terror when living in a world of metahumans who you realise are that much more powerful than you, and tracking them around you at all times to feel safe

Batwoman Elegy both being about not being considered good enough (due to DADT) and losing everything, but also about being reduced to an image and a concept

Babs in Suicide Squad and her stories with Waller about finding control again after losing everything, and what you will and won’t do to exert that control to feel safe

there’s nothing more depressing than reading a comic with a really interesting female character and then halfway through the run they change writers and suddenly she’s a sex doll with the personality of a wall decoration

Graph showing the percent of DC Comics issues each decade that are taken up by Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Superman stayed at a fairly consistent 20 percent until the 1990s when Batman (who'd hopped around the teens before that) surpassed him, and has increased by 8% each decade since. Batman is currently sitting just under 40% of all DC comics issues this decade. Wonder Woman has stayed in the teens as well, although has risen up to around 20% of current comics in the 2010s. She has always been fewer than Batman and Superman

Same as the previous graph but with Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), The Flash (Barry Allen), Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman added. They are all consistently under 10%

A close up on the percent of DC comics issues that Green Lantern, The Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman have taken up each decade. Each of them vary massively from one decade to the next and it looks quite chaotic. The Flash is the only one to have surpassed 10%, having barely done so in the past few years

Batman's percentage overtime also with Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon, the Joker, and Alfred Pennyworth's stats as well. Dick Grayson has seen an increase in recent years and is currently around 20%. He used to be tied or more than Batman but has only featured in half as many since the 70s. Barbara Gordon and the Joker have also seen a steady increase since the 90s as they have solo careers outside of Batman comics, unlike Alfred (RIP) and Commissioner Gordon who have stayed fairly consistently around 6%

Robin tema ups used to be around 90% in the 40s and 50s, then fell to 20% in the 70s, and is now under 10%. Superman has never surpassed 20% but is currently at an all time low. Batman Family collabs have increased, however, and are currently the most common collab type (although they don't necessarily have to include Bruce as one of the three members)

A look at the percent of DC Comics over time that has Superman or his supporting cast. In the first couple decades, 3 quarters of his appearance had Lois, and very few had Jimmy, Lex Luthor, or Supergirl (as she was introduced in the 50s). Since then, they all have settled fairly consistently under 10%, although Luthor has had an increase in the past few decades

In case it seems like every third comic has Batman in it... you're not wrong. He's been in 38.6% of DC issues since 2020, with a stark increase of 8% each decade since the 90s and surpassing Superman in popularity. Despite this, there's been a massive drop off of comics where he is teamed up with Superman or a Robin (although the amount of group team ups between Batman Family members has increased, as well as Nightwing solos).
