So, are white trans women affected by racism?

This is not a gotcha. I've seen a lot of people on here attempt to discuss racism and (trans)misogyny as co-constitutive, but people never show their work. If racism is in fact inseparable from transmisogyny, is everyone who suffers transmisogyny a victim of racism?

If cis women of color are subject to transmisogyny, is there no distinction between cis and trans women of color, either within or outside the West?

How does the inseparability of racism and transmisogyny operate in global south cultures where imperialism has shaped their history and economy, yes, but the extant regime is not one where white people are a present or meaningful demographic?

I know people mean well, but if you're going to make broad, sweeping statements about these topics, you need to be able to think through your arguments, realize what conclusions you are implicitly promulgating, and reason out whether what you're saying makes sense and matches up with history and empirical reality.

Because I've had experience both with Western and non-Western patriarchies, and I'm fairly sure in that regard, I am a minority on this site.

perhaps someday we could discuss how the transvestigative panic reinforces and expands the reach of the systemic segregation of trans women from public spaces, activities, and careers, tightening the cage we are in with every cis woman accused of being us and every defense against such with bioessentialist reification of casab as proof of her right to exist in said space, implicitly or explicitly denying denying us ours. perhaps we could talk about how the seeming ubiquity of transvestigation of cis women in sports, music, politics, etc is a product of cultural institutions so paranoid about our existence that we are not even let through the door in the first place to be present for our own holographic public trials. maybe we could talk about transmisogyny enabling and enhancing other degendering oppressions in a way that recognizes the crushing power and reach it has that makes that influence possible. maybe someday, don't think it's gonna happen today

we do need to revisit the wording of "you can't have your cake and eat it too" because i don't think it clearly enough conveys that it's more that you can't simultaneously retain a cake and also get to consume it (which would render you cakeless). for years i was like But why not....it's my cake....?

I realized I never posted these here on tumblr! 2020 did unspeakable things to my mind and body…I staggered away from lockdown with a whole pitch of how I would make an animated Cats adaptation. I got the whole thing up here *taps skull*—it would be Very Good. I can’t think about it too much lest I awaken my sleeping obsession…still want to finish Old Deut and Macavity one of these days.

Fun fact: The term "Jellicle Cat" is actually the cats’ mishearing of the term "Dear Little Cat" (this gives me much joy)
