In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.
In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.
In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.

In the ecosystem of white supremacy, we all suffer.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino/a, and other AAPI people were here during the American Civil War; they struggled under the long shadow of Jim Crow; during the world wars, Asian servicewomen and men, like their Black contemporaries, wondered if they should fight for "their country" when that same country continued to segregate and subjugate their families and communities. Would serving as an example truly liberate their people?

In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.
In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.

When they returned home from the frontlines, the liberation work continued. They were there for the Long Civil Rights Movement; they were there for the anti-war movement, they ARE here with us now for Black Lives Matter. But where are we when our Asian sisters, brothers, and siblings were crying out? How can we hope to dismantle the ecosystem of white supremacy if we can't even acknowledge that the fog of racism infects and affects all of us?

Black, brown, and beige solidarity against white supremacy now and forever.

I can't tell you how many times (in the midst of COVID) that a Black or brown co-conspirator off-handedly said to me "that's not my fight" when referring to violence against Asians and other targeted groups. As a decolonizer, as an antiracist practitioner, as a citizen of the world, it is ALWAYS OUR FIGHT. Decolonization means solidarity against any and all forms of verbal, emotional, economic, political, and physical violence that seek to erase, endanger, and eradicate BIPOC & AAPI existence. Full stop.

In The Ecosystem Of White Supremacy, We All Suffer.

please keep in mind that learning is always a process. learning to draw, dance, play an instrument, but also learning to say no, learning to start conversations, learning to be more comfortable in your own skin. it’s great setting goals for yourself, as long as you allow yourself to get there gradually instead of immediately wanting to be the best at it (and setting unrealistic standards for yourself because of it). change is rarely a single moment during which everything suddenly shifts, but rather a period of time in which you learn and adjust and improve. you’ll get there, but you must give yourself time to do so.

Chrome extensions I actually use as a mentally ill university student

Making websites easier to digest:

Dark Reader - Changes any webpage to dark mode.

Mercury Reader - Simplifies the layout of any webpage to eliminate distractions and irritating formatting.

Podcastle AI - Turns any article into a podcast. This is a lifesaver for being able to process what I’m reading, to be honest.

Spelling/grammar:

LanguageTool - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who regularly type in more than one language.

Grammarly - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who only type in English. Can be used with LanguageTool installed, which is what I do.

Google Dictionary - Define any word on the webpage with a double-click.

Google Translate - Translate an entire webpage or even just a short segment.

Misc:

AdGuard Adblocker - After trying quite a few adblocker options, this is the one I find the best.

The Great Suspender - Automatically suspend inactive tabs to help with performance.

Honey - Try coupon codes automatically to save money on online purchases.

Built-in Chrome tab grouping - Group your tabs to keep organized and minimize distracting clutter.

Some people don't want equality - they want privilege.

I think about this a lot when I see that Trumpf doubled his support with black men, Hispanic men, yt women, and the LGBTQIA community.

It's unfortunate that once again racial minority women are at the forefront of what will be a Biden / Harris win. Smh.

Black men made such a big deal about losing support from black women - just because we wouldn't go along with their theory that a vote for Kamala or Biden (or Hillary - like in 2016) is a vote for mass incarceration. Smh. Their - black men - theory was that, because Kamala was tough on crime (which indirectly & overwhelmingly affected black men disproportionately) that she would use the executive power to enforce harsh or unfair criminal laws on black people. Which - if they had bothered to look up Kamala's successes - they would see that Kamala has a strong record with rehabilitating criminals and lowering the likelihood of reincarnation. Kamala has a strong public record on being tough on crime but always tougher on ensuring that those who have been incarcerated have an opportunity at rehabilitation, so that they don't end up in the system again.

But since racial minority men are chauvinistic and sexist, they believe that their "theory" on Kamala should supercede a very real reality that involves women losing the right to choose, racial minority immigrants receiving inhumane treatment (kids separated and locked in cages in concentration camps), escalated race relations between racial minorities and yt nationalists, our global standing in the world, and not to mention a president who has committed treasonous crimes and evaded our tax system to the point where *we* (as tax paying citizens) have given this treasonous criminal over 800 million in tax breaks! This was what black women were supposed to ignore so that black men wouldn't fear an Administration that would be tough on crime (i.e. black men).

The level of selfish, self-serving, self-centered idiocy just blows my mind.

America is more sexist than they are racist, because racial minority men will always fight to maintain a privilege over all women - but especially black women. That's what has really chapped their asses. The idea that our society is becoming so progressive that we could and will elect the first african american woman to the vice presidency. ❤️

Black men, do better..

why is “olde vampires in high school” the big thing and not “olde vampires in college”

everyone in college is eccentric. everyone

you wanna wear full on Victorian suit? the girl in pajamas who clearly hasn’t slept in three days supports you

everyone is too preoccupied to care as long as you’re polite and follow class etiquette

multiple high school diplomas? eh. same stuff. multiple BAs? Enjoy learning chemistry AND art history! All in detail!

wandering around campus at 3am? that’s just the lifestyle tm

no matter how old or young you look it’s not really that weird, there’s sixteen year olds and sixty year olds doing BAs somewhere

big schools are very anonymous so nobody’s gonna bother to hassle you

Perspective | Black women saved the Democrats. Don’t make us do it again.
We turn out reliably every election. But you can’t just vote white supremacy away.

Four years ago, I voted for Hillary Clinton. I didn’t want to — I knew her political career had been detrimental to my community, but I felt like voting for her was my only option. This year, I had the same eerie feeling as I filled my mail-in ballot out for Biden. By the time I voted, yes, he had apologized for the 1994 crime bill, but he’d also written a scathing statement condemning the actions of protesters in Philadelphia after the death of Walter Wallace Jr. at the hands of police.

I’ve had enough, and my life has only just begun. Every four years, the Democratic Party looks to me and countless Black women to save it. Our White women counterparts aren’t held to the same standard, especially not the 53 percent of them who voted for Trump in 2016. White women are granted forgiveness for their “infidelity,” and wooed all over again each election, while Black women are expected to remain loyal and faithful.

It’s not a burden I want to bear. My ancestors did not bear me into the world so I can put a White man into a position of power over a system that will inevitably harm me and my loved ones. The Black women who give me strength are not the ones in the halls of Congress, or even the one preparing to move into the vice-presidential mansion, but the ones in the streets. The Black women’s movement has never centered exclusively on the ballot box in our journey toward liberation and freedom. We’re not your political mules. We’re not your monolith — so especially now, after we turned out all over the country to sweep Trump from office, Democrats had better support and listen to Black women even in odd-numbered years. We’re not here to save the world. We’re just here to protect ourselves.
