I never understand how so many gamers will simplify Alyx dislike towards Judith Mossman and gloss over it as just her being petty when it's so much more nuanced than that.

Alyx lost her mother in the Black Mesa incident, her entire life was uprooted overnight and she was thrown into a chaotic world where she was no longer safe to be a child like she deserves.

And Judith, we know, glorifies the incident, she wasn't there and clearly sees it through the lense of legend, whereas Alyx was there.

And until this point everybody believed gordon, this guy who saved all the people close to Alyx, was dead. And Judith according to alyx, believes the day would have gone differently if she was there.

So here is this woman, who was not there, who talks about what is possibly the worst day of Alyx's life, the day she lost her life, her mother, and treats the whole event like a glory quest. I'd be pissed as shit too, especially if she did this for years.

Now do I think Judith is bad? No, I think she's a nuanced and interesting character. I just also think Alyx's dislike of her is also incredibly story full and nuanced too.

And at the end of the day, we all know the only person who could've replaced gordon that day and survive the same, is Alyx.

Caroline Portal 2 was probably really witty and full of snarky comments but as the assistant to the CEO of Aperture Science she had to hold a lot of it back for the sake of appearing professional.

Meanwhile GLaDOS had all the snark and none of the need to maintain appearances. It’s her damn facility, after all, she can say whatever she wants.
