Thank you Len! And hey, we got the same thing!
[ID: a uqiz result that says Redemption arc
your story had a pretty rough start and you did some things you're not proud of, but you made the choice to change. i won't go through how important it is to accept responsibility and keep striving to improve or whatever because you know that already. what i think you should know is that your fuel does not need to be shame. you don’t need to stand over the bathroom sink with your blood in your hands until you can no longer make out your reflection. you will look at your face and you will see the person you used to be, but that person no longer exists. today, you are looking, and that makes all the difference.]
It was kinda fun! I do feel a little called out, but that's the fun of these

rules: answer this quiz and it’ll give you a character arc
[ID: a uquiz result that reads hero arc. the elaboration below reads, “well done - you did things right. this may seen like a boring answer, but i promise it isn’t. you believe in goodness and you believe in doing good, and through everything, you work to keep that goodness. you have seen so much blood, and your instinct is always to stitch. you grew and fought and won, and i’m glad you did, because someone had to. i’m glad you kept believing in world you were trying to save. you are far braver than most could ever be.” End ID]
me: there’s no way that’s right

“You’re Not a Good Writer.”
I once received a DM comprised of just that sentence. Nothing else. No constructive criticism or any reason as to why this person clearly agreed with my own view of myself.
For someone who has never told anyone in their real life that they write anything, reading something like this from an anonymous user only solidified in my mind the fact that this person was right.
I’m not a good writer.
After an embarrassing amount of minutes passed, in which I thought about deleting every story I ever posted, I decided to delete the message instead. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean I could delete the feelings it caused or change the fact that I’m not a good writer.
Two weeks went by and I didn’t write anything, let alone post. Then I received a comment on a story I had posted three years prior, one I’d written after a death in our family. The comment read, “Thank you for sharing this heartfelt story. I really needed this. I just lost my mom and this really got me today.”
I stopped thinking about being a good writer after that. I thought instead, “what if I had deleted my stories and that one person three years later hadn’t read it that day?”
Here’s what I realized: no one is a good writer.
Good means to be approved of, but stories aren’t created from approval. They’re built from life experiences, feelings, and emotions Therefore, the impact of anyone’s story isn’t good or bad. It’s a million other things.
Heartfelt.
Sad.
Funny.
Inspiring.
Romantic.
So to all the story writers out there, hold your head up, write what is in your heart, and never doubt that there isn’t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.
So, no.
We’re not good writers, but why would we want to be?
A, F and L And I'm not sure if I've explicitly mentioned this before, but I adore Over Land and Sea, or at least what I've sean of it(pun :D)
Thank you for the ask Eve! And I am so glad that you’re liking Over Land and Sea, I’m having so much fun with it and yeah, I’m glad you like it!!
A: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Normally writing energizes me! I’ve written for a long period and then I walk out of my room and I’m shaking in excitement for what I just wrote. One time, I had to stop writing for dinner and I had been so engrossed with what I was writing that I could hardly eat cause I was so on edge to get back to it.
Lately, though, it’s been exhausting cause I just haven’t been able to find the motivation and time seems to drag on with every word I type, but that’s not a normal thing so let’s hope it goes away soon!
F: Do you prefer to write stand-alones or series?
Normally I like to write stand-alones, but sometimes I just have way too many ideas that I just have to make it a series to fit everything. So it all depends on the story.
L: How do you select the names of your characters?
Name generators and baby naming websites.
Boring, I know. But I go through lists of 100 names and I’ll quickly read through and only one name will stick with me. The name that does is the name I pick. Then I go to a different list and do the same thing.
The thing with relying on my memory is that my mind is focusing on the personality of the character and then the name the stands out is the name that gives the vibe of the character and thus become the character.
The one thing I don’t do is giving my characters names of people I know in real life. If I do, my mind won’t think of the character, it’ll think of the real person. And that’s not what I want.
In response to this ask game!!
Hii! Your WIP is very cool, and I've been enjoying your poetry too so... A, N, and Y for the ask game?
thank you and hello to you too!
A: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
i like to think it energizes me? i really get into it and do nothing else for days, but then i get a creative drought afterwards so... a bit of both!
N: Do you hide secrets/easter eggs in your books?
sort of! it’s a little more like “if this one specific person happens to read this, they will know what i’m talking about” or “if the reader has really been paying attention, then they’ll see that this is similar to that” or things like that.
Y: Are your characters based off of people you know? Yourself? Or no one at all?
they’re mostly based off of vibes, and then i throw a bit of me or someone i know to add some depth. in an older wip i got this idea for a person who is really shy and sweet and suffers a tragic loss, but they way he deals with it is a bit like myself. and i guess one of them came to me in a dream :)
in response to this ask game
E, F, L for the get-to-know-the-author ask game?
E: What other writers are you friends with?
Mainly just @pagesofcursive
But other than her, I don't actually talk to many other writers. I follow a few and interact regularly and enjoy their stuff, but I hate to make assumptions since friendship is a two way street
F: Do you prefer to write stand-alones or series?
Series. I have too many ideas for writing a stand-alone, plus I don't know when to leave a story be
L: How do you select the names of your characters?
I look up baby names based on the main try of a character. Or one just comes to me and fits, like Nala and Zach
