Repeat after me:
Good rest is required for creativity
I am allowed to rest in order to restore and rejuvenate my creative well
I am not lazy for resting
My WIP will benefit from the rest I give myself and my creativity
My writing requires rest just as much as I do in order to flourish
Congratulations!!!! That’s amazing. I can’t wait to hear more about it as you write the second draft

RPS Update: 1st Draft is Complete!
I did it! It took a little over a month, but Rival Potion Shops Draft 1, or “oops I accidentally did Nano a little earlier this year,” is done. It’s coming in at just under 66k, which is great- I’m an underwriter, so this gives me plenty of breathing room for draft 2.
Excerpt from chapter 1, Sherry talking to Ambrose as they watch Eli set up shop:
“He’s the nephew of old Mr. Severia. Inherited the shop from him,” Sherry said proudly, now that it was her turn to parade about her observations. “I think he’s about your and Dawn’s age, too.” She squeezed Ambrose’s arm. “Wouldn’t it be nice to make a new friend?”
Ambrose grimaced. “No.”
Next Steps:
I’ll be waiting on re-reading for two weeks. In the meantime, expect some artwork!
I don’t think I’ll do alpha readers. I’ve got a list of notes going already, and I think it will be more beneficial for me to get through a draft 2, then do proper beta readers.
If you are interested in beta reading (likely in the new year, so I’m not asking anyone to read during the holidays), please let me know and I can tag you when I do make an official beta reader call post. No pressure, of course!
Send help, I have to think of a real title.
Thanks for sticking with me through all my draft 1 posts! More stuff to come soon!

"Hi, <blog name>! Did you ask me to send you this video?" And below is some low resolution video of a... lady.

Please don't click on it, please don't answer it, please be careful and tell your friends to beware you can get hacked this way and lose your blog.

A quick reminder to all my lovely fellow writeblrs that it’s okay not to hit word goals, it’s okay to abandon stories, and it’s fine to take a break- no matter how long.
Writing is meant to make you happy, and if anything about it is impacting your physical or mental health- or just making you unhappy- then you are not a bad writer for taking a break (:
@sleepyowlwrites did not appreciate my last Cackling Maniacally post, and now we both miss Emry Karic, so here. Have some cute EmCal.
Emry felt silly as he closed the door to her room and changed into the borrowed clothes. Though Gareth was clearly a bit of a paisley-adoring dandy, he was at least a responsible one. He couldn’t remember the last time he had worn anything this nice, or this clean.
“Cal, could you help me with the cravat?” He fussed with the cloth as he walked back down the stairs. “I have no idea what the Vornik style is these days. Marko made fun of me last time I tried the Tazlo knot…”
“One moment.” Cal was hunched over her desk, dashing out a letter. Once she was satisfied, she set down the quill, stretched out her fingers, and turned around to survey his look. She froze as soon as she saw him.
“That bad? Really?” Emry started back up the stairs. “I’ll go change—"
“No, no. You look…” She came over and took his arm to turn him back around, then smiled up at him. “Perfect. You look perfect, Em.”
“Oh.” All the fleeting confidence he had felt in the river tunnel had fully vanished. After a moment of staring at her smile, some vague part of his brain informed him that he should probably say something. “Thanks.”
Nailed it.
