Look in all seriousness you can't redeem a character without showing them being pathetic, deep loser energy. There are no cool redemption arcs. They have to be in the trenches. They have to hate themselves for the mistakes they made. They have to apologize and take whatever is given be it forgiveness or a punch to the jaw. ONLY then will the redemption arc be actually good because it will be cathartic. And then they get to see the good things, they get to be touched gently and held while they sleep.

These things can overlap, even into a circle but without the pathetic loser boy saga your redemption arc will feel hollow.

The Falling Of the Stars

Detailed Synopsis:

When darkness returns, a cruel act will serve as a sign that our grief is over, and that peace has returned—On the day the stars fall, a broken bone may result in the end of history.

Darkness has always danced around us. Making a home in our bone and marrow, keeping us all together as if were needed it to keep us whole, as if we needed it to define us. What were we without the darkness that haunted us? What were we without the stars that shined brightly at night even when things seemed bleak for us under the sky of never-ending clouds and rain. Made up of the very thing we admire in the night—what will we be when the star falls from the sky?

Darkness had always been a part of the Moreno family. Hard to escape the harsh and cold strangle hold it seemed to have on them. Far on an island the royal family stayed, keeping themselves out of the prying gazes of the people that they ruled over—the ones that they served, not because they felt they were above all, but because they knew that their darkness would only spread if they got too close to those that were innocent, clueless of the sorrow that seemed to follow them, and Grimm Moreno—God of melancholy and loneliness—knew how quickly darkness and sorrow could spread, how it could eat a person from the inside out, leaving them a shell of their former selves. He had seen it with his father and his mother, he felt it in himself, and now he saw it with his adoptive family.

With the year of darkness and having been the recipient of strange visions–and the awakening of his own darkness, Grimm is forced into action when he has a dream of the stars falling a second time, snuffing out the little light that is allowed in the year of darkness, and ending Isla as they know it.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫(𝐬):

Grimm: Grimm is the god of loneliness and melancholy. Adopted into the family by Melchizedek Moreno and his wife, Leia Moreno, he is now seen as the child of the former king and queen. He was once married to Khaleesi—a cosmic horror. They had eleven children together, but the marriage went down in flames. Grimm was given his name by his mother, his real name—the name that he was given to by his father, being kept hidden due to the pain that he feels when someone calls him by the name.

The Morenos: The Morenos are the royals of the dimension of Isla. They are closed off from the world, keeping to themselves on the island that they have all to themselves. This is not because they feel that they are better than the people that they serve, this is due to the dark secret that they would like to keep hidden—away from the innocent people of Isla.

Grimm’s Siblings: Grimm is the oldest of nine kids. He is the biological child of Ravenna and Oddeathe, both of them being part of the Remevon—a group of the oldest gods that have ever lived. His siblings go by the names of:  Vanessa, Noelle, Charon, Prince, King, Elysia, Aello, Sirius, and Melinoe. They have a complicated relationship with one another due to lies that have been told on each of them, but mainly because of Grimm and the issues that he has with his parents.

Oddeathe: Oddeathe is the ancient god of chaos and destruction. He is the most feared being in the dimension and is kept in the deepest parts of Vega—the underworld. Despite what he rules over, he was once a kind god, loving to his wife and kids. Though power got to his head, driving him insane.

Ravenna: Ravenna is the ex-wife of Oddeathe and the mother of Grimm and his siblings. She is the Goddess of Language and Words. She is also the minor goddess of manipulation and delusion. Ravenna is cold and calculated. She has no love towards her kids and feels as if they should praise her for even having them. Due to her never having had parents, she doesn’t understand how to love her kids, and refused to parent them. She also never held them, believing that holding them would spoil them and make them believe that they are important when they are not.

Zaire: Zaire is the second in command to Grimm. He is a demon from Greece that was saved by one of the Musicians (Creators) and given to Grimm as a way to keep him company. Not much is known about Zaire except that his mother was a prostitute that sold him when he was five. His father never having been in the picture, running off with a rich, mortal woman.

Persephone: Persephone is the sister of his son’s dire wolf, Hades. She stands to be ten feet tall with saber tooth fangs. She has thick, white fur with purple, white, and black markings. She has a long and thick mane, much like a lion’s and twelve eight-foot-long tails. Her eyes are large, being the color of lilac. Persephone is loyal to Grimm, always following behind him. She was a gift from his son when he found her and Hades in the woods after their mother had passed away. She is docile, but she can also be malicious like Grimm, feeding off his energy.

Grimm’s Children: Grimm has ten children by the names of: Joden, Jadis, Xenon, Illia, Zo, Asha, Mars, Nikias, Beau, Adelle, and Whisper. Three of them are full gods, while the rest of them are demi-gods. They live on the island with the rest of the Moreno family and have taken on their last name, due to gods not having a true last name. The oldest of the bush are the identical twins, Joden and Jadis—who are the gods of death and life.

𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 

Dimension of Isla:

The first thing that most people notice when they enter the dimension is the fact that they can see their breath in the air. The world is said to be tranquil, a place beyond that of anyone’s imagination. Isla is the coldest to exist so far.

The scenery of Isla looks like a mix of Scotland, Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland. The sky is always overcast, filled with thick clouds that suffocate the sun. People that go there say that the dimension is like an island dream. There is zero pollution in Isla–which makes it a safe place to go. The grass there is the greenest of the green, dark and lush.

The water is clear and blue, holding a nice and sweet smell to it, drawing people in even more. There is ice on the beaches, glaciers, and ice blocks that float in the water.  The sand is the blackest black known to exist. It looks as if one is falling into the night sky. Isla is a paradise for people that come to visit and people that live there.

I hope that you guys enjoy it! I would also like to say that the second book that I was planning is not going to happen until this book is completed. I just couldn’t get around working and planning that one as much as Falling of the Stars.

Introduction to Pirates: Pirate Ships

The exact design of ships changes by the time and place of their manufacturing, but they had common builds and terminology.

Directions on a ship are:

bow or prow (front)

starboard (right, as seen when standing on the ship facing prow)

port (left, as seen when standing on the ship facing prow)

aft or stern (rear)

amidship (in the middle of the ship)

windward (the direction the wind is blowing)

leeward (the opposite of windward, sheltered from the wind or downwind)

Important places on a ship are:

bilge (the lowest part of the ship, the part most likely to leak and be filthy)

crow’s nest (a small platform near the top of the mast for lookouts)

fo'cs'le or forecastle (the section of the upper deck in front of the foremast)

helm (the steering wheel. contains the bittacle/bitacola/binnacle, a box which holds the compass)

hold (storage space in the lower part of the ship)

hull (the body of the ship)

keel (the underside of the ship)

mizzenmast (the largest mast. on a ship with three or more masts, the mast aft of a mainmast)

poop deck (the highest deck, usually above the captain’s quarters)

main (the longest mast)

quarterdeck (the aft part of the upperdeck)

Depending on the size of the ship, it may have one or multiple decks and masts. The flagship of Blackbeard, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, was an English-built frigate. It was a 200-ton, 103 foot long vessel with three masts (the fore, the mizzen, and the main). It allegedly had 40 cannons, though only 30 have since been found (far more than most of the ships it attacked) and as many of four anchors, which could weigh up to 3,100lb and take over an hour to raise.

Vessels such as pirate ships cannot accurately be called boats, this is a pet peeve of many nautical workers.
