“chan, my love,” you attempt for what must be the third time — “you know these things are rigged, right?”

it’s like he barely hears you, hand fixated on the lever, eyes narrowed in concentration, zeroed in with, frankly, terrifying intensity on the stuffed dinosaur that sits inside the claw machine.

you’d really, truly, only meant it as a passing comment! the two of you were just walking past the games on your way to the hot dog stand, and the little green dinosaur had caught your eye. “look! a dino, like you!” — you’d nudged him lightly, the briefest of laughs — “it’s so cute!”

you’re not sure how, but your boyfriend took that as a challenge.

which is how you wind up in your current position: watching him let out another stream of curses when the dinosaur, unsurprisingly, falls from the claw for the fifth time.

“chan.” you try again, but he glances at you with a fleeting, dazzling smile —

“just a sec, baby,” he assures, a steeling determination in his tone. “i swear i’ve got it this time. i’m good at these.”

“they’re rigged, baby,” you repeat, feeling like a stuck record, but giving in all the same. “nobody’s good at these.”

but less than half a minute later, you’re eating your words. somehow, he’s managed to drop the dinosaur straight down the shoot, fuelled by mumbled swears and intense lever use, maybe — but he’s done it.

“for my lady,” he declares magnificently, turning to present it to you with an overdramatic flourish and bow. you don’t quite match his elegance, grabbing the dinosaur to your chest with a delighted sound.

“i love him,” you announce, completely disregarding the baffled looks the two of you are getting from the throng of younger children to your side. “this is my new best friend.”

chan stops for a second, his brows raising; “hold on — ”

“do not tell me you’re jealous of a plushie.” you turn towards him, half-questioning, half-amused.

“listen,” he attempts, “i just mean that — i’m probably better at cuddling, you know. that thing can’t move its arms.”

“chan!” you splutter, laughing at the faux glare he shoots the tiny animal. “you’re kidding.”

his eyes flick to yours, his brows flick upwards. “am i?”

you roll your eyes, and assure him. “you’re not being replaced.” and for good measure, you drop a sweet kiss on his cheek, smiling when his ear go ever so slightly red.

(“it’s like a reward,” he quotes, brushing his fingers over where your lips have touched — that’s when you know it’s time to cut off his tiktok addiction.)

an / that last part is just me being silly. sorryyy this is so short and not very good i’m doing a little bit insane i have SO MANT family members staying at my house (currently sleeping on a sofa bed in my parents’ room. u can imagine how that’s going.)

your focus is torn away from your book when you feel the bed dip, followed by a warm breath against your neck. hyunjin's sitting beside you, breath minty from his toothpaste and his hair damp from the shower.

"done showering, my baby?" you ask, shutting the book and setting it on the nightstand.

he hums, nuzzling his face closer to your skin, so much so you could feel his lips on your neck. hyunjin doesn't miss the opportunity to press a sloppy kiss against your collarbone, making you giggle.

"tickles, baby."

"mm," he sleepily hums, "you smell good. did you use the body scrub i bought you?"

you only nod, a small smile tugging on your lips. softly, you comb through his hair, pushing away the bangs from his eyes. he's looking up at you, all doe-eyed and pouty — the look he always gives whenever he's feeling clingy.

what kind of fool would you be if you don't entertain him at times like this?

and so, you press a kiss onto his forehead, earning a soft smile from him. you move your hand under his chin, gently cupping. his lips slightly puckers from the gesture, the sheen on his full lips capturing your attention. his lips are tinted with a light brown colour, almost matching with the cherry tint of his hair.

"new chapstick?" you ask, swiping your thumb under his lower lips.

"yeah," he mumbles, "wanna try?"

you reply with a hum, fully expecting him to get up and retrieve his chapstick. instead, you're met with the sensation of hyunjin's lips against yours. his arms are gripping onto your waist as he deepens the kiss, mannerisms as though he hasn't kissed you in years.

you're not complaining, though.

you could taste the chocolate of his chapstick on your tongue, mixed with the taste of his saliva. you whine into his mouth, and he giggles — pulling away to catch his breath.

"good?" hyunjin asks, wiping the remnants of his saliva at the side of your lips.

"cocoa chapstick?"

"atta, baby."

In the midst of this intensified aggression, it is utterly disgusting and quite sadistic to demand Palestinians to prove their genocide to the world. It's insanely cruel to insist that Palestinians document their genocide while fighting to stay alive.

Here I am sharing a post about a horrific massacre that took place in northern Gaza just last week and include links to an international news outlet, an independent news outlet, a video report with testimonies from people who witnessed the massacre and a conference of health officials reporting on the massacre from the hospital it took place in.

Yet nothing seemed to stop Zionists from questioning the validity of all of the sources, at times saying the videos don't show the actual massacre (!!!) and demanding I share "more networks" for them to deem this remotely valid.

Truth is, I can share 1000000 varying sources and they will still come up with a new absurd way to deny and discredit Palestinian accounts and testimonies.

They are able to do that, of course, since their entire culture is built on the subjugation of Palestinians, so it is second nature to vilify Palestinians and minimise anything they say in defence of colonial violence. Zionists, even ~leftist ones~ who “protest their own government”, go around denying Palestinian existence every day, so what would stop them from denying Palestinians their humanity?

Obviously nothing.

It is especially sadistic and cruel to do these crazy backflips under the guise of "authenticating" while also knowing there are over 75 years worth of testimonies, films, books, reports, studies - all kinds of documents that show a clear pattern of Israeli violence. What we learned about Israel's violent actions during the Nakba is being replicated every single day, with only minor differences in detail.

But with access to all of this, the question becomes: is it really "seeking the truth" or is it a blatant case of deflection? Is it really so unbelievable that Israel has been committing massacres on a daily basis in Gaza or is this a way to bury its atrocities under walls of text and wild misinformation?

I believe we all know by now which one it is.
