Warhammer 40,000: On the Shoulders of Giants

After too long, I return to my boys in black.  I’ve been sitting on this idea for over a goddamn year, but I had no energy to write for awhile and I couldn’t get it to coalesce until recently.  This is a mesh of two things I wanted to write:

-something with a space marine centurion, because I love the stupid things -something about what happens when a space marine ends up at the bottom edge of the curve the other side of which contains the big damn heroes

Fuck it, I got back into writing, the plan begins

A Space Marine story I would love to see

You know adding onto the list of things “I wanna write and should get on with it.”

Somewhen I would love to write or to see a story about a Space Marine of some kind who gets stuck on a planet, gets stuck with a child, let’s say a young girl and then becomes part of a small group of survivors.

I just wanna do Space Marine being forced to live alongside normal people and them growing attached to them especially the children. Maybe it actually softens up the marine.

Hell has a scene where the Girl upset and whilst the marine starts of stern, after a while. When the child has to do something bad the marine embraces them in a hug and comforts them. Because sometimes you need to be soft and gentle. especially when the world around you are cold, cruel and heartless, being kind is the greater challenge that holds you above the monsters. 

Then on the action side, let’s say the planet has been taken over by a strong Genestelaer cult or chaos cult. Though I wanna do Genestelaer because Chaos cults have been done to death. Genestealers are a more fresh idea. Especially as we could say the marines squad was killed by the Cult ambush, and thanks to the Cults efforts they can’t get any real message off the planet.

then we can see you can have the people try surviving a successful cult rebellion. How do they deal with Genetsealers? they don’t have proper weapons and whilst the Marine is fully trained chances are they were injured (even by marine standards) and their amour isn’t fully operational. 

Then you add on stuff like, Why hasn’t the Hive fleet arrived to take this world yet? has something happened to the fleet? I was thinking maybe the Cults looking for something and to get it they kicked off the rebellion early and digging for it whilst the Hive fleet keeps the Imperials distracted elsewhere.

The ending well I got good ideas I like. But I’m not sure if a good idea to say.

I know this is a weird one and there must be stories about Marines living with normal humans. Hell, I got this idea form a shorts tory I read that had this idea but I want that keen on it and focused more on the action and gunfights as opposed to quiet story moments. Hell, this idea sounds a lot like tehWlaking dead game (seaosn 1) expect no zombies and different twist. 

It’s just an idea (based off other stuff but that’s not uncommon with Gw stuff) I’ve wanted to say for ages. I probably cnat do it but this is such a good way to help humanise Space marines and make them a lot more likeable by normal standards.
