Rain drops hitting the window, the wind crashing against the glass trying to seep in. That was what had woken you up. It was cold, and you could feel it against your skin because you noticed you were naked under the duvet. Remus. All memories from the previous night started to flash through your mind and that was when you found the energy to open your eyes.

Empty. The bed was empty. Well, except for your own body and the pillows that he had slept on. You could still smell him amongst the sheets which only made you feel nauseous. He had left. Without saying a word. After saying all those words deep in the dark, he had departed without sparing any of those words for the day.

Was it nothing? Was it really just a young man searching for an easy night of passion? You didn't want to believe he could be so hedonistic, so simple, so hurtful. He was supposed to be different, he was supposed to be the one. All this time spent knowing him, and was this supposed to be the cruel truth? A man that you knew of, a man with such a gentle heart, was actually capable of breaking yours like this?

He had said the words. The words that now made you want to cry in the cold, gloomy room. He had made you say them.

If they were words of adoration, the declaration of passion, then why did they hurt so much in his absence? Cold and dark. Chilling you to your bones, making you pull the duvet around you even closer, wanting to disappear from existence. Because a world without him was a world without peace and you had no intention of fighting a war.

Then the door clicked, and your ears perked up with a tremble. Was it him? Had he forgotten something? Or had he just returned to humiliate you further?

“Y/N?” His voice called out and how badly you wanted to ignore him. To act as though you were sleeping, so he could leave and let you be. Let your sorrow mold you out of this world.

But you could not disregard Remus calling out your name. Your own voice betrayed you, responding to him.

“Yes?” It was the only way you knew.

“Oh, thank Godric you're awake! I made us some tea, I know you need it first thing in the morning. Just a splash of milk, just the way you like it.”

And it was bliss. You could have sworn the sun had started to shine at that moment, could have taken an oath saying the birds had started to sing. He was here. And the world was suddenly a better place.

Your head peaked over the covers to see if he was actually there, to make sure this wasn't just your imagination making this up. He was there, standing at the tip of the bed, eyes still full of sleep, his t-shirt crinkled up in all directions and his smile, crooked but full of promises.

You felt like a fool for jumping to conclusions. You almost apologised for thinking him a liar, a deceiver, a cheat. For almost hating him because you thought he had left.

“Are you okay?” He asked, voicing his concern. You probably looked like you had just seen a ghost. Most could argue that you had.

“Yes,” you cleared your throat, “Yes, I'm absolutely fine.” He smiled wider at that, and he pulled the covers up, climbing into the bed beside you, mugs hovering from behind. He leaned into you and held you close for a moment, inhaling your scent as you listened to his heartbeat, fully surrendering to him. You already belonged to Remus, with no turning back. He sat up, with pillows propped behind him and helped you find a comfortable position. You were dazed, to say the least.

You sipped your tea that had gracefully landed between your fingers. Perfect. The exact way you liked it. He knew you so well.

“I haven't done anything wrong have I?” He asked after a long sip of his drink. You decided to be honest, to let him know how you were feeling.

“I don't know what I'd do without you.”

“Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore.” Remus sounded confident, like it was as simple as that. Maybe it was.

“Remus?” You asked tentatively.

“Yes?”

You paused for a moment to look at him, only to find that he was already looking into you.

Plot - After failing another assignment, your professor asks to talk privately

Muttering a silent prayer, you gathered your things and made your way down to his desk. Professor Loki Odinson was different. As the final students scurried away to their next class, you waited patiently for him to speak. Already on his bad side, you thought that patience might win you some extra leverage if you had to beg to stay on this course.
