List of “return to sender: anything but my feelings” prompts
“The only thing I am to you is a shoulder to cry on, aren’t I?”
“You’ll always be out of reach from me, won’t you?”
“The only thing you’re keeping guarded is your heart, and no matter what I do, I’m not the one who’s going to get access to it.”
“Will it ever be me?”
“I’m not asking for these feelings to be returned. I’m just asking you to understand that I’m in love with you and whatever you do isn’t going to make me stop.”
”I can respect you not liking me back, and I’m not trying to say you have to like me back in any way shape or form, but I’d really appreciate if you can respect my feelings for you.”
“…Do you know what I’d give to stop being in love with you?”
Character B, while looking at Character A, a sad glint in their eyes, says, “The person I like isn’t going to like me back. And frankly, I’m fine with that, because as long as I have them in my life then… That’s all I can really ask for.”
“I hate to be that person, but I really don’t think I can be just friends with you.”
“What did you wish for?” “Nothing but my heart back from someone who’s never going to see me the way I see them.”
Writing Prompt: Dialogue
"What makes you so special?"
"I... What?"
"Why is it that you are the one that makes me feel this way? I could have anyone I wanted, at any time, but you're the only one that's made me actually care... Why you?"
"I... I'm sorry,"
"I'm not. ...You don't feel the same way, and I understand why and it hurts, but it's okay. It's a pain I can endure because I... I love you."
— in denial about having feelings for them ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀
the denial do be strong tho LOL, feel free to use!
➛ out of the blue, they start to look so attractive to you
➛ unconciously staring at them
➛ using exam season as an excuse to not process your feelings about them
➛ "are you sure they're just a friend?"
➛ jealousy creeping up whenever they smile at someone that's not you
➛ noticing the butterflies in your stomach whenever you're near them
➛ "both of you would look good together" "what-"
➛ suddenly all the love songs you're listening to are about them
➛ having an intimate dream about them that has you all flustered when you wake up
➛ "why does everyone think that i like them?"
➛ drunkenly telling your friends that you like them (this happened to me lol)
➛ "do you want me to remind you what you said about them when you were drunk" "no, absolutely not"
➛ unknowningly giving them the softest gaze when they talk to you
➛ random urge to kiss them
➛ "you know denial is the first step to everything" "what are you implying-"

Writing Resources #1
(Note: I’m only including free resources here, mostly because I’m broke and haven’t had a chance to try out any paid apps / programs. These are the resources I use and recommend, and is by no means a comprehensive list of all the writing tools out there. You might find something else that works better for you and isn’t listed here, and I’d love to see some reblogs from people sharing any other resources!)
For when you just need to get words on the page:
Write or Die is easily the most versatile tool for when you need serious motivation to just write. It’s a bit tricky to figure out at a glance, but you can play around with it and find out what works for you. Because of the ability to set time limits and consequences for yourself, Write or Die can help you stay focused and (if you’re like me) stop second guessing every word you write. You can always edit later.
Written? Kitten! is an alternative to Write or Die with only rewards (new picture of an adorable animal of your choice every time you hit a word count) and no consequences. It also has a very minimalist layout without a lot of distractions or customization options, which is helpful if, like me, you’re easily distracted.
For visualizing your word count & progress:
Pacemaker has a free mode and a subscription mode, but the free mode is pretty much everything you need. This is helpful if you’d like a visual representation of your word count. It can make it easier to see your progress on a project.
For editing:
ProWritingAid is… everything. You do need to make an account to use this site, but oh boy oh boy is it ever worth it. (Just make sure to sign up for the free option; it has everything you need.) I use this tool in tandem with my own editing process, and it has an amazing algorithm for catching things that weaken your writing - adverbs, overused words, passive verbs, etc. You don’t need to take all of its advice, but it can help draw your attention to things about your writing that you may have missed. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering trying out a paid program like Grammarly. It’s by far the most useful editing tool I’ve ever come across.
Hemmingway App isn’t for everyone. I feel called out by it, but that’s the point - sometimes we need to hear that our writing is getting a bit verbose and ostentatious, and to consider if toning it down a bit might help our story and meaning shine. Again, you can decide not to take any or all of its advice, but it’s a useful tool. (For example: I put this post into the app and it yelled at me for the word “ostentatious” and suggested I replace it with “showy.” That’s not exactly what I meant, so I kept “ostentatious”, but it was a nice suggestion. Does that count as irony?)
As always, happy writing!

u know i’ve expressed my love for fake married/fake dating many, many times but like. is anything better. is anything better on this earth. does any trope or genre truly care for us quite like this one. let us reflect on a few of the gifts that fake married/dating consistently gives us:
character a asks “hey, will you pretend to be my date for a week for [convoluted excuse that could easily be solved without a fake relationship]?” character b, fully convinced of the futility of their DEEP AND UNREQUITED LOVE, figures this’ll be a chance to spend time with them and possibly put their feelings to rest. character b is always wrong & it is always amazing.
having to SHARE A LIVING SPACE FOR ARBITRARY FIC REASONS. having to see eachother in their pajamas first thing in the morning, messy haired, drowsy eyed and soft faced. going from “you can have the bathroom first” to brushing their teeth beside eachother and feeling like this closeness has always existed (at the same time, painfully aware that it won’t always).
related to the last one — “”practicing”” their casual touching so that it’s easier when they’re in public. feeling SWOOPS OF ARDOR AND AGONY when they feel the brush of a hand on their neck, or an arm loop around their waist. don’t you love how fake marrieds/dates are always method actors who must FULLY INHABIT their roles. i love it. i live for it.
bed sharing. :^) we all pretend we’re bigger than this but we are not.
“kiss me while everyone’s looking.”
the character who wasn’t aware they were in love (maybe always had been) until the fake relationship is in full swing, realizing they have to sort their feelings out before their time together is up. sometimes they succeed and angst is minimal. most of the time they don’t, really.
telling eachother “i love you” in public and meaning it, heart aching over it, but bELIEVING THE OTHER 2 BE ACTING. my soul is still 15, this garbage still gets me. u don’t get pining better than this.
the days leading up to the end of the arrangement where one of them, still confused and muddy about their Feelings and unsure how to break things off, stiffens to the casual, reflexive touching and puts their walls back up. the other one accepts and respects this as the end of their agreement and squashes back down all the hope they ever had, stuffs it next to the heartbreak they’re ignoring deep in their chest.
when they realize they’re actually fully and enthusiastically mutual about the way they feel and it’s, like, two parts euphoria and one part agony because they just cannOT BELIEVE, the happiness tears them in two. maybe there are weepy or laughing kisses. i don’t know but i’m usually invested like 2000%. i love fake dating/marrieds.
I LOVE EM.
