Epilogue

3 Years Later:
“Please Y/N, please! I can’t do it! I’m scared.” Kat begged, giving me her best set of desperate puppy eyes.
I locked the front door to the store. The day finally having ended, thank goodness. It’s funny how a day can literally drag by when you have to listen to your coworker whine for most of it.
“Kat, you’re literally the most fearless woman I know, and this scares you?” I scoffed in disbelief, flipping the open sign to closed.
A deep chuckle had both of us turning to look at Jungkook. Just as handsome as ever in a pair of black jeans and white tank top with an opened lavender button up. Only difference is that his hair was no longer long. Most of it anyway. The hair on the top half of his undercut was still relatively shaggy. But not long enough that he needed to style it all the time. Couple that with the lip ring he decided he needed on a whim and the man was a walking panty dropper. In fact, the whole look made him appear edgier and I couldn’t help but notice that since he did it we’ve had a pretty significant increase in a younger clientele walking through the doors to my shop.
As if that wasn’t enough, on days that Namjoon or Hoseok swung by, women nearly swooned. Some even hung around for hours just to see if any one of my husbands would show up. Not that most people knew the three of them were mine. I think some assumed Jungkook was if any of them, although I was technically only legally married to Yoongi. But they all considered themselves married to me. Common law marriage is what Namjoon jokingly called it one time and the younger two never let it go. No matter how much Namjoon explained it wasn’t really a thing. Regardless, two years married, and I still basked in post-marital bliss.
Especially in times when I see other women ogle them and I get a twisted sense of pride knowing they were mine. Kat liked to call me inwardly evil because of it, but I just called it love.
“You still haven’t taken the test yet?” Kook asked, raising an eyebrow.
He was carrying several empty boxes that I planned on saving for Jimin’s next order. Stashing them neatly next to the ‘to be shipped’ shelf behind the counter.
“No. I haven’t. And my bladder is literally about to burst.” She huffed looking at me, eyes narrowed.
“I am not holding a pregnancy test for you while you pee on it.” I told her firmly.
Sometimes, you gotta draw a line in a friendship. And having my best friend come very close to peeing on my hand is where I’m drawing mine.
“Then can you at least take one with me?” She cried exasperatedly. “It’ll feel like less pressure on me.”
I snatched the little box out of her hands. Ripping it open before pulling out one of the sticks.
“Fine. I’ll go first.” I huffed, wanting to get past the incessant begging.
Both she and Jungkook watched me walk away. Behind me, I could hear Kat fishing through the box for the other test before running after me.
“Do you need help? Want me to hold the-“
“No.” I told her, closing the bathroom door behind me.
I could faintly hear Jungkook laughing on the other side. Their conversation muffled as I pulled my pants down and plopped on the toilet seat. I did it quickly, hoping the sooner I got it over with, the sooner Kat got it over with and we could see once and for all. She and Jackson had been trying for the past several months with a little bit of difficulty. The longer she went without being pregnant, the more nervous she became thinking that maybe there was an issue on her end. I could understand her anxiety and I would have felt bad for her, if I wasn’t already sure she was pregnant. The bloating, fatigue, heartburn, and constant in and out of the bathroom kind of gave her away.
I looked into the mirror as I washed my hands, noting the exhaustion in my own features. I yawned, ready to go home and cuddle with one of my husbands. Preferably Jimin. I’ve been really craving his company as of late, much to the displeasure of the others, but Jimin didn’t complain in the slightest. Leaving the test on the counter, I exited. Jungkook leaned against the nearest wall, trying to calm Kat down by engaging her in conversation. Which had been working, until she saw me.
“Done?” She asked meekly.
I held the door open for her. “It’s all yours.”
She sighed, walking in and closing the door behind her. Once she was inside, I turned to Kook, not missing the wide grin on his face as he pushed himself off the wall.
“You look tired bunny.”
“I am. Today has felt longer than usual.” I hummed, stepping into his arms as he opened them. “I just want to go home and sleep.”
“I think Jin told me he would be late tonight, so we can always pick up dinner on the way home.”
“That would be nice.”
“Planning on staying with Jimin again?” He teased.
“I… thought about it.”
The door opening behind us, followed by Kat rushing out and slamming the door behind her had us stumbling back.
“Kat, what in the wor-“
“Let’s not look until tomorrow.”
“What? Why?”
“Because they have to sit for a while anyway, right? We can just check them in the morning.”
I looked at her bewildered. “Yeah, they sit for like, 15 minutes or something. Not 10 hours.”
“I’m just too scared to look.”
The sadness in her expression made me frown. Kat was always the positive one. To have her look so depressed like this meant that this whole pregnancy thing was really weighing her down. I pulled away from Kook. Grasping Kat’s shoulders before pulling her into a tight hug.
“Hey. Don’t worry too much, alright? No matter what it says, we’ll figure it out.”
She nodded, slumping over on my shoulder and letting me hold her for a while.
“If it’ll make you feel better, I can look at them for you?” Jungkook offered, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
She nodded weakly. Not even looking at him as he slipped past us and into the bathroom.
“Is Jackson picking you up?”
“Yeah. Really he should be here any minute.”
A loud clatter came from the bathroom. Kat and I both turning around in concern until Jungkook came barreling through the door.
“Kat, did you pee on both of these?” He asked breathlessly, doe eyes huge as he looked at her.
“What? No. I only did the one.”
The back door opened, Jackson walking in with a huge smile on his face until he took in the scene. My arms still around Kat while Jungkook looked like he was about to combust.
“They’re both positive.” He whispered, looking down at the two tests in disbelief.
“What?” Kat and I said at the same time, moving closer to look for ourselves.
He was right. The two tests read the same result. Positive. Pregnant. Kat squealed in excitement, Jackson barely having time to prepare himself before she launched herself into his arms. Meanwhile, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was lost in a haze of disbelief myself, unable to tear my eyes away from the tests Jungkook was still holding.
“Y/N? Hey, Y/N. Look at me.”
Kook set the tests aside, hands cupping my face as he lifted my eyes to his.
“You okay?” He asked worriedly.
“That- There has to be a mistake. Kookie there’s no- I can’t be-“
“Hey, shh. Calm down.” He crooned softly, pulling me into him and threading his fingers through my hair. “It’s okay.”
“I still have my IUD. I can’t be pregnant.” I murmured in disbelief.
Another set of much smaller hands rubbed my shoulders.
“When was the last time you had it checked?” Kat asked me calmly. Almost as if she was afraid I’d freak out if she spoke any differently. Oh how the table have turned.
“Not since I had it put in.”
“Okay. And when did you have it put in?”
I dropped my head. Fuck. Years ago. I couldn’t even remember honestly.
“A… while ago.”
“That’s fine.” Jungkook reassured me. “We can go to the doctor and find out for sure, alright? No need to worry just yet.”
I nodded weakly. Having him here did ease my anxiety a bit. It was much better than being by myself.
“I’m sorry I ruined your moment.” I apologized to Kat, feeling even worse knowing it was a happy revelation for the two of them.
Kat smiled softly, pulling me into a hug of her own while Jackson just gave me a sympathetic smile.
“You didn’t ruin anything. Whatever the results say, I’m here for you, okay?”
“Okay.”
I let her and Jackson walk out first. Both ecstatic at the prospect of her pregnancy. Meanwhile, I was still swimming in a pool of doubt and anxiety. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be pregnant, more like, it was unexpected. I hadn’t planned on having children for a while still and when I did, I expected to be trying. Not for it to be a result of my carelessness. I groaned tiredly, my exhaustion slamming into me full force.
“Let’s go home and I’ll find Jimin for you.” Jungkook said playfully.
He had grabbed my bag and shut off the lights while I’d been distracted. His hand settling on my lower back to guide me to the rear entrance where he usually parks behind the building.
“Can I just stay with you tonight?”
He smiled, his endearing freckle on full display as he leaned over to kiss my head.
“I would never say no to that.”

The next few days are tense to say the least. I was practically glued to Kook, him no better as he stuck close to me. Hardly leaving my side for more than an hour. I had made a doctor’s appointment, Kookie promising he’d go with me which I was incredibly grateful for. It was weird not confiding in the other guys about it. But I wanted to be sure. I didn’t want to incite panic when the test could have been a false positive. Jungkook was my saving grace. Having at least one of them in the loop about what was happening meant I had at least one person I could talk to about it.
Especially someone more central to the potential of the situation. Kat was wonderful. She’s been super supportive even with her own thing going on. But Kook was my pillar. I found a lot of comfort in having him near and he didn’t push me to talk about it, or to talk to the others about it. He understood my reluctance and knew I wanted to be absolutely sure first. That didn’t mean it was easy. I went from constantly craving Jimin’s attention to being Jungkook’s shadow.
As if the bounce between the two wasn’t suspicious enough, I was beginning to exhibit early pregnancy symptoms. Whether that was because I was pregnant or the possibility that I could be gave me phantom signs remained to be seen. Or maybe I was just in denial. All the signs I had originally noticed in Kat seemed to pop up in quick succession in me. The fatigue, which I’d been feeling a lot of even before taking the test, I wrote off quickly. Assuming it was just how busy I’d been at the shop lately. But then I noticed the bloating and wicked random bouts of heartburn.
Just feeling icky in general. Which made me seem even more suspicious. Spending all my time with Kook meant I could skirt the advances of the others. Especially Taehyung and Jimin. The two probably had the highest sex drives out of the bunch and now that I wasn’t putting out with the way I’d go into a panic any time they tried putting me in the mood, they knew something was up. Jungkook caught on and was quick to thwart their advances. But they weren’t dumb by any means. I knew they knew what he was doing. I started going to bed earlier and waking up later.
Hoseok hadn’t been able to drive me to work like he usually does because by the time he needed to leave, I wasn’t even out of bed yet. So, I ended up riding in with Jungkook. But I could tell, it was weighing on Hobi. Not just him, but everyone asked me all the time if I was okay. Not having any other way to explain, I just said that I was. Needless to say, by the time my appointment day rolled around, I was ready for it. Not being able to talk to them was killing me. And I hated the rift that was slowly growing between me and the others.
I dragged myself out of bed late this morning with Kook’s help. Jin was in the kitchen making brunch and he thought it would be a good idea to get some food down before we left for the doctors. Reluctantly, I forced myself out of bed and dressed, my movements sluggish like they have been for a while. I padded out of the bedroom, limbs heavy and eyelids even heavier as I tried to wake myself up.
“There she is.” Jin said, uncharacteristically cheery, even for him. “Good morning love. Hope you’re hungry.”
Not really. Just the smell of whatever he was cooking had my stomach rolling. Yet another thing that showed just how off I really was. Normally, I was obsessed with Jin’s cooking. Never being able to have enough of it. But the past few days I’ve mostly just pushed it around on my plate. Taking enough bites to satisfy him, but never fully finishing a meal. I pushed back the nausea, taking a seat at the dining table hoping that the smell would be less potent the further I sat from where he was cooking.
“Good morning hyung.” Jungkook greeted Jin as he walked by.
He plopped down at the table. Sitting across from me with watchful eyes.
“You okay?” He mouthed, not wanting to draw Jin’s attention.
I shrugged, putting my elbow on the table before dropping my chin onto my palm. Really, I just wanted to go back to bed. I felt someone else walk up behind me before kissing the top of my head.
“Smells good. What’s on the menu?” Yoongi asked, voice laced with sleep much like mine probably would be if I felt like talking.
“Omelets. I figured they’d be quick and easy. Plus, we needed to use the rest of the eggs before they expired.”
Eggs. My gut clenched and the nausea returned with a vengeance. I whimpered, slapping a hand over my mouth before launching myself from the table. My chair smacking into Yoongi making him grunt as I bolted across the house. In my sprint to the nearest bathroom, I ran into Namjoon, catching him off guard as I shoved him aside. He stumbled into the wall, and I would probably feel bad about it later, but as of this moment, I was painting the toilet with my insides. I heaved over the bowl, feeling even worse when Namjoon composed himself, quickly following me into the bathroom to hold my hair away from my face.
“I’m sorry.” I cried, taking deep breaths trying to stave off the next wave of nausea.
“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.” Namjoon cooed, squatting behind me to rub my back.
“Something’s wrong.” Yoongi sighed heavily behind us. “I’m making you an appointment.”
“No! Uh, don’t worry about it, hyung. We already have one. In fact, we’ll leave for it in about an hour.” Jungkook rushed the words out as Yoongi pulled out his phone.
“Excellent. Then I’m going with you.” Jin told him, leaving no room for argument.
“But-“
“I’m not asking.” Jin said sternly. “I’ll go get ready and meet you in the living room.”
I groaned, leaning away from the toilet and into Namjoon’s arms as he opened them to welcome me. He handed me a washcloth that I used to wipe my mouth before settling into him feeling even more tired if that were possible. Yoongi looked down at the two of us worriedly.
“You okay doll? Do you feel like you’ll be sick again?”
I shook my head. “Just tired.”
“Well let’s get you off the floor then.”
He offered me his hand, helping me up and handing me my toothbrush. I quickly brushed my teeth, feeling better without the nasty aftertaste of vomit before letting him and Namjoon lead me into the living area to wait for Jin. I was more than content letting Joon hold me. Yoongi took it upon himself to finish the meal Jin had started before I interrupted. Jungkook grabbed my bag and phone. Setting my shoes out for me when we were ready too before slipping his own on. Jin was ready in record time. Not even bothering to slick his hair back like he usually would for work, leaving it to cover his forehead and hang in his eyes. Or glasses in this case seeing as he didn’t bother to take those off.
“I’ll drive. Let’s go.”

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the little picture the doctor had given me from my ultrasound. It was true. He confirmed my pregnancy and took my IUD out after making sure everything was fine. Jungkook and Jin waited outside during my appointment. Not because they had to, but because I asked them to. Jin wasn’t happy, but Jungkook was able to convince him to let me be. I needed time to process this before I broke the news to everyone else. I had a lot of mixed emotions. Worry, anxiety, excitement, happiness. The culmination of it all swirled within me making it harder for me pinpoint exactly what I was feeling. After giving me the photo I had asked for, the doctor congratulated me and said he would give me a few moments before sending Jin and Jungkook in. How long that was exactly, I wasn’t sure. I physically could not look away from the picture. The little bitty bean that was supposed to be our baby. A light knock on the door pulled my attention away from it long enough to answer it.
“Can we come in?” Jin asked hesitantly, poking his head around the door to see me nod.
He entered first, Jungkook right behind him as he skirt his way around the older man to come to my side.
“What did he say?” He asked excitedly.
Seeing him this way eased the tension that had built when I was alone. My burden lessened and I smiled. Finally feeling the overwhelming happiness that I was sure most newly found out mothers-to-be felt.
“Right around seven weeks.” I told him, holding up the picture for him to see.
He took it, expression glowing as he looked down at it before excitedly turning to Jin.
“Hyung, look! This is our baby!” He gushed.
Jin froze. Staring down at the photo Jungkook held before slowly looking up at me.
“You’re pregnant?”
I nodded, a little caught off guard at his reaction. He looked like he didn’t know what to do. His eyes flickering between the picture before settling back on me.
“Jin? You alright?”
“This is real? You’re not joking right?”
I fought to keep from laughing. And I thought I was in denial.
“I’m pretty sure the doctor wouldn’t hand me a fake ultrasound photo.”
He melted to the floor. His knees giving out from under him causing Jungkook to stop his gushing long enough to catch him before he hurt himself. I jumped off the exam table, grabbing ahold of his arm.
“Are you okay?” I asked worriedly. “Jin.” I called to him when he didn’t respond.
“Hyung, you’re freaking us out.” Kook told him, shaking his shoulder.
Jin’s arms came around my waist. Dragging me to the floor with him as he buried his face into my neck and started crying. I froze in surprise. My eyes quickly finding Kook’s who looked just as taken aback as me. I carefully wrapped my arms around him, hoping it provided just a sliver of the comfort he needed.
“This is why you’ve been avoiding us?”
I sighed, not realizing just how much my actions the past few days had been hurting them. Hurting him. I squeezed him tighter, laying my cheek on his head.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you all worry. I just wanted to go to the doctor to know for sure before I made a big deal about it.”
“Y/N, this is huge. Even if you weren’t sure, you should have come to us about it. We could have helped. Could have made you feel better. I wouldn’t have been cooking things you wouldn’t eat-“ He stopped himself, pulling away to look me in the eye. “This is why you haven’t been eating, right? Do you not like my cooking? I can have Yoongi-“
I laughed, shushing him before wiping away the tears running down his cheeks and fixing his glasses.
“Jin, I love your cooking. Eggs just don’t agree with me right now.”
He nodded vigorously. “Okay, no problem. Eggs are off the menu from now on. Anything else? What about cravings? Is there something you want? We can make a quick trip to the store-“
“Jin.” I hushed him again, my heart swelling in adoration. “We can worry about that later. Right now, I think we have news to break to everyone else, agreed?”
“Yeah. You’re right. Let’s go home.”

The ride home was a lot less tense than the ride to the appointment. Jungkook still held the picture, cooing over it every few seconds until Jin would stop at a light and ask to see it too. It wasn’t hard to tell that they were both beyond smitten already. Fact proven even further when Jin asked if I would stay with him tonight. His reasoning being that he wanted to be the second to indirectly hold his baby considering I’d spent the last few nights with Kook. I didn’t want to break his heart by telling him he technically wasn’t second either seeing as I was seven weeks along and I had bed hopped occasionally.
Like I said, I wouldn’t be the one to burst his bubble. I agreed, much to Kook’s displeasure until Jin pretty much scolded him for being so selfish with my time. Up until I came to Kookie’s defense and told him that it was my fault more than Jungkook’s and Jin retaliated with how I couldn’t be blamed for anything with my pregnancy hormones driving my actions. Which was an interesting fact to know and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about just how much I could get away with. Enough to distract me from thinking about how I was going to break this news to everyone else. Until we got home, and the door swung open to reveal a frazzled Hoseok.
“Are you okay? Yoongi said you went to the doctor. Is everything fine?” He fired off, tugging me inside and flicking his gaze between me and the other two.
“I’m okay Hobi. I promise.”
“What did the doctor say?” Yoongi asked, walking out of the kitchen and wiping his hands on a kitchen towel.
“She may still be a little sick from here on out. We’ll just have to help her through it.” Jin shrugged, getting a kick out of the way Hobi’s form visibly deflated.
“What? You said you were okay!” He cried, on the verge of tears as he looked down at me.
“I am okay.” I reassured him, giving Jin an evil look as Hoseok helicoptered.
“Here.” Jungkook intervened, handing Hoseok the ultrasound photo.
Hobi took it, looking confused momentarily before his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
“You’re pregnant!?” He screamed, lunging at me and nearly smothering me with how tightly he grabbed on.
Behind him, Yoongi dropped the kitchen towel. Frozen solid as he looked between me and Jin as if waiting for someone to tell him differently.
“Maybe, we should move this to the living room and gather everyone, so I only have to deliver the news once?”
“What news?” Taehyung asked, emerging from the back hallway.
Jimin was right behind him. Silver locks a messy mop on his head, eyes half lidded as he shuffled across the room. Sleep obvious in his voice as he glared at Hoseok.
“Nobody can sleep with you screaming like that.” He grumbled.
Before I could ask everyone to take a seat, Hobi sprinted across the room. Grabbing ahold of Tae tightly before shoving the picture in his face.
“Or not…” I sighed to myself.
Jin and Jungkook were laughing behind me. The younger of the two running across the room to look at the photo again as Hoseok held it up for Taehyung. My gaze wandered back to Yoongi who hadn’t moved from his spot. I approached slowly, picking the towel up off the floor.
“You’re not going to collapse into tears too, are you?” I asked warily.
He blinked a couple of times before focusing in on my face.
“Someone cried?”
“Jin.” I smirked, amused.
“I- ah, no. I don’t think so.” He shook his head, gaze dropping to my stomach. “Are you serious? You’re really…”
I nodded, smile widening. “About seven weeks.”
A rush of air left him on an exhale. Pushing aside the kitchen towel I held out to him to wrap his arms around me. I soaked in his comfort. Elated to know that the excitement between all of us was mutual. Despite it being unexpected, we were happy, nonetheless. Our moment was short-lived however, when another body engulfed us. My squeak of surprised followed by Yoongi’s objections before he eventually was able to wiggle out of the hold. The bouncy voluminous black curls gave him away immediately as they tickled my face.
“For real!? It finally worked!?” Taehyung shouted.
“What do you mean ‘it finally worked’? Have you been trying?” I laughed in disbelief, pulling my arms out of his hug to push his curls out of mine and his faces.
“I’m always trying.” He admitted, raining kisses on me.
“Holy fuck.”
The voice pulled me out of Taehyung’s cloud of bliss. Peeking over his shoulder to see Jimin seated on the sofa, ultrasound picture in hand and more than awake now.
“Do you see it?” Jungkook cooed, pointing as if Jimin was suddenly blind. “It’s so tiny. Like a little jellybean.”
“Holy fuck.” Jimin repeated.
“Yeah, you said that.” Hoseok looked at him bewildered.
“Holy fu-“
“Jimin! Anything else could come to mind right about now!” Jin scolded him.
“Why is everyone shouting?” Namjoon questioned, finally pulling himself out of, what we lovingly had dubbed his office as, the cave. “You’re back. How did the appointment go?”
“We’re going to be dads! Can you believe it!” Taehyung yelled, running over to snatch the photo from Jimin to show Namjoon. “Look how cute!”
“Tae, it’s nothing more than a peanut right now.” I giggled. “I’m not sure cute can qualify.”
“Nonsense. He’s ours. He can be a cute peanut.” Jungkook grinned, moving around the room again to look at the picture.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it permanently ended up in his room at some point. Yoongi wrapped an arm around me, moving us into the shared living space before Jungkook’s words resonated.
“Wait. He?”
“Yeah. I think it’ll be a boy.” Jungkook shrugged as if he was already certain.
Before I could question him on that, Tae beat me to it.
“It’s a girl.” Taehyung said matter-of-factly with a nod saying there would be no objection.
“What? How would you know that?” Jungkook asked.
“Because it’s mine. Of course I’d know.”
A laugh bubbled out of me unexpectedly. Everyone turning to me at the loud outburst before turning back to Tae confused.
“What makes you think it’s yours?” Jimin’s voice was on the verge of annoyed as he pinned a hard glare at him. “It could be any of ours.”
“Because I made sure I stuffed her every time we had sex, that’s what makes me know it’s mine.”
“What? And you think the rest of us didn’t do the same thing?” Jin’s arms crossed at the same time one leg swung over the other and an eyebrow lifted.
“Okay, then you can call it a father’s intuition.”
“You’re so full of shit.” Namjoon chuckled, shoving Taehyung aside to get to me. “So, this was what was responsible for this morning?”
I smiled sheepishly, looping my arms around his neck once he was within reaching distance.
“Uh, surprise?”
He hummed, leaning down to kiss me softly. I let the bickering in the background fade away as I fell into Joon. His presence larger than life and one I let myself get lost in.
“Best surprise ever.” He whispered against my lips, leaning in again.
“Yah!” Jin yelled, physically forcing Jungkook and Taehyung apart. “We’ve got nine months before anyone finds out anything and I’m not going to sit here and listen to the two of you argue you about it for that long.”
“Exactly!” Jimin chimed in. “Especially when we all know that it’s mine.”
“What!?” Jungkook and Tae collectively whirled on Jimin.
“Well duh. Why do you think she’s been hanging onto me before Kook? The baby knows his own father.”
“It’s not a boy!” Taehyung yelled, lunging at the older man.
The two went sprawling across the floor, Jungkook quickly grabbing the photo Taehyung still held before running away, I presume, to stash it someplace. Jin sighed heavily, annoyance crossing his features as he bent down to lift Tae off Jimin. Namjoon, Yoongi, and I watched in amusement. Hoseok merely sat on the sidelines, trying to convince the wrestling duo that it didn’t matter what the gender was. But it was obvious neither were interested in listening.
“Well, we have nine months to whip them into suitable father figures. Nose goes.” He said quickly, fingertip pressed to the end of his button nose.
Namjoon and I both looked at him, unimpressed.
“You’re talking about them not being mature and here you are playing nose goes?”
“At least I’m not rolling around on the floor like children.”
“Touché.”

Chapter 30

“YOU LUCKY BITCH!” Kat practically screamed in my ear.
I flinched, nearly losing my grip on the pan I had over the stove. It clattered to the stovetop a little less than gracefully as my fingers slipped. I had more or less explained to her that I was sort of seeing all of the men she’s seen in and out of the shop lately, along with a few others she hadn’t seen at all.
“Kat, I think my ear might be bleeding.” I replied sarcastically, rubbing my ear against my shoulder.
“You’ve been banging some of the hottest men I have ever seen in my life and didn’t bother disclosing that information. You deserve more than just a busted eardrum.”
“Don’t let Jackson hear you say that.” I mumbled under my breath.
“Please. The man would agree with me.”
She resumed cutting the vegetables while I began adding ingredients to the pan, checking the clock on the wall to see how much time we had before Jackson was supposed to be back. It had taken us longer than intended grocery shopping as Kat had a tendency to get sidetracked while being in any store.
“So, they’re all okay with that? Sharing you?”
I shrugged. “That’s what they all keep telling me. Eventually I have to conclude that they mean it and it’s not just something they’re saying to make me more comfortable.”
“Wow. Gosh, maybe I should’ve remained abstinent for two years and I would’ve scored too.”
I gave her a weird look until she bumped her hip against mine,
“I’m kidding. Seriously though, I’m happy for you. The way you are around them, I missed seeing you like that. Plus, I can tell they’re just as infatuated with you seeing as how none of them can keep their eyes off you. Or their hands apparently.”
I snorted very unladylike eliciting a cackle out of her.
“Can’t you be sweet and not throw in an innuendo with every sentence?”
She shrugged, dumping the cut vegetables into my pan.
“I mean, I can try. But honestly, I’m not sure it’s possible.”
I shook my head, focusing on cooking when I felt her hug me from behind, laying her chin on my shoulder.
“Promise me that you’ll come to me if anything happens, or you need anyone to talk to okay? I may not look like it, but I have some pretty good advice when it comes to dating. Although it may not amount to much when navigating seven men, but I like to think Jackson’s multiple personalities make it somewhat relatable.”
“Does he know half of the shit you say about him behind his back?”
She let me go, snagging a piece of bread from the tray of dinner rolls I had just pulled out of the oven. She raised her right hand as if she were about to swear by the Bible.
“I promise anything I have told you has already been said to his face. He is by no means unaware.”
The beeping of the keypad outside of the door interrupted our conversation. She smiled brightly, bounding off to greet her lover. As much as the two liked to give each other hell, they were honestly perfect for one another. In fact, I’m almost positive the only reason I hadn’t already given up on love was because of Jackson and Kat. They had something special. The kind of special that everyone pines after when it came to their own love life. I used to be envious of it, but now that I was exploring this new arrangement of mine with seven men, I wanted nothing more than to have the kind of easygoing and loving relationship with them that she shared with her boyfriend.
“Hey, Y/N.” Jackson waved at me as he entered the kitchen. “Glad to see you in here rather than Kat. We might have been homeless over the holidays otherwise.”
“Alright dickhead. We’ll see if I make you anymore homemade lunches for work.”
I tried to force down my laugh, pursing my lips to keep it in. Jackson wasn’t as capable. His laugh rang through the kitchen as he pulled Kat in close to him to give her a kiss.
“I’m kidding. I know you’re an excellent cook.”

Dinner was finished and by the next hour we were all stuffed full. Not that that stopped Kat from breaking out the peppermint hot chocolate as we all sat down to watch our traditional Christmas movie marathon. We made a promise a long time ago that instead of buying each other gifts, we would spend the holiday together. After all, time and memories were more precious than anything money could buy. Before Jackson joined the circle, Kat and I didn’t really have anyone to spend Christmas with anyway. Her parents were halfway across the world and she made a trip out to see them twice a year on their birthdays since she refused to leave me by myself on the holidays with how busy the shop got.
And my parents… well that relationship speaks for itself. Every once in a while my mom will attempt to bring the family together for a gathering, but it almost always fails. I honestly couldn’t remember the last time we were able to be in the same room civilly. By the end of the first movie, I was dozing off and Kat could tell as she nudged me every few minutes.
“I’m sorry I keep falling asleep. I’m just really tired.”
“Oh, I’ll bet. Hot rabbit sex tends to take it out of me too.”
I kicked her on the other end of the couch as she laughed.
“Hot rabbit sex? Does that mean our girl got laid?” Jackson grinned over his mug of hot chocolate.
“Both of you are way too invested in my personal life.”
“Aww come on. We’re just looking out for you. You know we just want you to be happy.”
“I was happy! You two make it seem like I moped around as if I was depressed.” I grumbled.
“Not depressed. Just stressed.” Kat amended, popping another peppermint into her cup. “Not to say you weren’t happy, but now you seem happier.”
I sipped my own beverage so I wouldn’t have to answer her. Not that Kat ever needed someone to engage in conversation with her to have a conversation.
“And…” she drug the word out before pointedly looking at me. “Don’t think I didn’t notice him slip you his key card and passcode.”
“You saw that?” I mumbled, finding more interest in the way the peppermint was beginning to melt.
“Of course I saw it. So, tell me, are you going to keep it?”
I sighed, abandoning my cup on the table. “I don’t know. What do you think?”
“I think he’s a fine piece of a male specimen and any other sane woman would be jumping at the opportunity you’ve been given.”
“I’m not denying that, but I’m worried things are moving fast. Too fast, maybe.”
She eyed me carefully. It was one of those rare moments when she really thought about what she was being told before answering. Jackson set his cup down on the end table before throwing an arm behind her to tug her into his side.
“Let me ask you this.” He intervened. “Do you genuinely like this guy?”
While I knew Jackson thought I was talking about one man in particular, the faces of all seven of them drifted through my head. I thought about the time I’ve spent with them, more so than others, but even still, I had no doubt about my feelings. The way they made me feel and how comfortable I’ve become with them in such a short amount of time. One could even say that my feelings were past the point of liking them. I’m not sure I would go as far to say I was in love with them, but it was more than just a fleeting crush. Maybe falling was the correct term. I was well on my way there anyway.
“I do.” I answered strongly.
“And is he good to you?”
“Yes. All the time.”
“Any red flags, or anything that makes you question yourself?”
At one point, I may have answered that they were into sharing women. But after experiencing the dynamic myself I’ve come to realize that it isn’t something they take lightly. Most of them have been incredibly straightforward about their intentions and expectations. I couldn’t help but admire them for it.
“No.”
Jackson nodded, tossing me a satisfied smirk.
“Then who cares at what pace you’re going at. Some people can take years to fall in love and others will fall at first sight. As long as both of you know what you want then there’s no reason to put a timeline on it.”
I pondered his words. He wasn’t… wrong. Maybe I have been too hooked on the short time that we’ve known each other and what’s considered “socially acceptable” when two people are in a relationship. If anything has been established so far, it’s definitely the fact that what I had with the seven of them was beyond the social norm. They’ve long accepted that fact. It was obvious in the way they were openly affectionate with me regardless of whether we’re in the presence of other people or by ourselves. And if their actions didn’t tell, then they did so verbally. They had eased my reluctance on the matter more than once and have been incredibly patient about it too.
“You know, for a man, you’re pretty insightful.”
“I’m not sure whether I should accept that as a compliment or be offended on behalf of all men.”
I smiled, hiding my laugh behind my hand as I pretended to adjust the blanket over my lap. Kat pat his knee in consolation.
“Just take the compliment. You’re not exactly winning the lottery when it comes to those.”
“Maybe because my girlfriend refuses to dish them out when they’re appropriate.”
“Maybe because your ego inflates when I do.”
“Maybe it wouldn’t if you let me have them more often.”
“Maybe I won’t be giving any more blowjobs if you need my mouth to be doing other things.”
“WHOA! Okay, no more. This conversation is getting out of hand.” I shouted, snagging the remote to look for another movie before things could escalate any more than they already have.
I scrolled through the list of Christmas movies Kat had saved. Finally settling on one and deciding to try and tune out the lovebirds on the other end of the couch who had decided to start cuddling one another. Over the sound of the movie, I barely caught Jackson’s words as he leaned down to Kat.
“You’re right. I’d much rather have the blowjobs.”
