Gehenna -First Spell
Norwegian Black Metal. Lesser-known member of the Second Wave of Black Metal. While some later albums are not as popular, this first album remains a classic.

-Drudkh- Ukrainian black metal. Always a solid band, with solid releases.
Drudkh - “Night Woven of Snow, Winds and Grey-haired Stars (December) / Ніч зіткана зі снігу, вітрів та сивих зірок (грудень)” (Eternal Turn of the Wheel / Вічний оберт колеса)

-FIN- Chicago, Illinois based traditional black metal duo.
One of the best recordings released in the genre last year. Powerful, blistering, with an undercurrent of militant rage.
Will have the opportunity to see them live at this years Red River Family Fest, Sept 28-29, in Austin TX.

Loyal to the Night Sky
Los Angeles, California traditional black metal band.
Fantastic album for fans of the old Norwegian sound, particularly in the style of Darkthrone. Raw and frigid, with biting aggression and fast tempos.

Ilusen's Fallacy by Keegan Ostrowski
Technical Progressive Death Metal solo project from San Diego, California, with melodic and jazz elements. Features a 7 string fretless bass, and the upcoming remastered rerelease includes some guitarwork from Jeff Loomis, as well as drums by Marco Minnemann.
The album is 88.88 minutes long, and is superbly executed throughout. The 7 string bass is a wonderful element, and is played masterfully. The vocals include harsh, clean, and female vocals, and weave into the music while still remaining distinct. The guitar tone and effects blend seamlessly, and the playing is precise yet organic feeling.
Wall of Fog is probably my favorite track.
