monch
if i was a faggot baby duckling with a flower as a hat i would be taking refuge under here once the elements lay siege on me no questions asked

so my highschool was huge, and for god knows what reason, cross country was super popular. at my highschool of maybe 6000 kids we have close to 750 cross country runners. we needed four or five busses to take us to meets. it was absolutely fucking insane.
anyway, i have this core memory of us running as this big, thundering herd down the main stroad of my hometown, and this one car had inched up pretty far past the stop sign to try and see around the car, and the guy leading our group decided, for god knows what reason, to open this big car's passenger door, scooch across the back three seats, and pop out the other side.
but then the guy behind him did the same, and we all just decided, why not, so we all did, and there was this old guy yelling at us but he couldn't just pull away because there was this unending 750 person long conga line of overheated hyperventilating sweat slick scrawny mormon kids slithering all over his leather seats and if hed tried to pull away at any point after the first guy he'd have kidnapped at least three of em.
for bonus points this guy lived in the area, and every time we ran past him he'd just lay on the horn, but to get back at him wed run into neighborhoods that we saw him enter and wed make these giant congo lines at crosswalks and shit just to fuck with him. we tormented that man.

Sorry for infodumping about my special interest out of nowhere, you said a keyword and it activated my unskippable dialogue
My main job is making sure schools in my region are providing resources for students who require accommodations for learning. Like assistive technology, therapies, etc.
Not a single one of these students uses AI. We have a high school student that uses tobii dynavox to speak and write words with eye gaze and they help run the fucking school paper! The idea that AI is being pushed as assistive technology, and that it's somehow ableist to not provide it, is absolutely ableist in and of itself. It assumes that people with disabilities, physical or developmental, haven't the mental capacity for independent thought, and thus need a fucking computer to think for them (or put their thoughts in order, which, again, there are already hundreds of tools out there for this that don't include AI)
I have students who are developmentally delayed to an extent that language of any capacity is not currently within reach for them, but guess what? Their worth is not measured by whether they can compete in a writing competition. Honestly. There is a difference in providing equity for people with disabilities, and using disabled people's plight as a an excuse to push AI agenda.
With the paraolympics right now, we see accessibility equity at it's finest! You don't see robots (or people, for that matter) going out there and doing the events for them and calling it equality. I have a blind and deaf student who does wrestling. A student with a prosthetic leg that runs track AND does poll vault. A student with down syndrome in the top 10 who recently received a scholarship for a docuseries they made with their iPhone. One of my former students now in college who also uses an eye gaze device is working on developing software to optimize eye gaze for electronic drawing.
The general consensus with all of these students who receive accommodations is that AI is a cop-out. It's cheating. Wanting to do something, and not being able to, is not a good enough reason to cheat. Just like wanting to win a race, but not being the fastest, isn't a good enough reason to take a shortcut.

i think we should all start using arabic words and phrases more often because its a beautiful language and also theres not really. english equivalents that have the same vibes
theres also the comedy potential of it. you guys dont know the joy of having your muslim friend text you "hopefully the racists in our city will all get sick and cant go to the protest" and you, as a pasty white guy, responding with "inshallah they get covid"
its a one hit KO every time. its fucking hilarious. theres no english word that has the same effect.
he also once texted me that he got over a mysterious illness he came down with (i think? i cant remember the exact context) and i responded with "subhanallah he is cured"
again, one hit KO. he lost his shit.
what im saying is we gotta normalise arabic. its just a language like any other, and it has some great words. its just like saying "thank god" or whatever, but theres so much variety and nuance. its beautiful
For the sake of the environment too. The sheer power and resources required for these things to give you a wrong answer is absurd. I can give you a wrong answer but the energy consumption levels required are astronomically lower. DM me I can give you a wrong answer right now the only difference is it might actually be interesting
ur future nurse is using chapgpt to glide thru school u better take care of urself

I had this idea for a looping animation in which a single dot has a pretty long loop, but the animation as a whole is much shorter. Because of the repetition this animation is only 1 second long!
Read this weird and was immediately like how tf you got seasonal autism
โmy (partially seasonal) depression, anxiety, autism, and chronic fatigue are all combining to make interacting with people incredibly hard, less enjoyable, and generally are taking away all the benefits of it which yk is bad because i am still a social animalโ โโโ

that last one is fucking wild but I feel like this is kinda how a lot of people feel about a lot of things. They have this โyou need to already know thisโ attitude but then are never willing to teach. This kid is 14, and if they havenโt taken any classes or had a background in this kinda thing, itโs perfectly understandable that they donโt know it. Itโs not willful ignorance, and it isnโt some moral failing to just not have been taught yet. We need to be more open to teaching people important information.

I'm sorry, but I adamantly disagree.
This is very good behavior.
They didn't recognize the file extension.
They didn't recognize the EXE program.
And so they refused to open them.
That is excellent internet security hygiene.

They went to a trusted person (their brother) and verified WinRAR was legit and then proceeded to unpack the files.
How is this not *encouraging* for gen alpha? Is it just because they didn't know what WinRAR was? Who cares? I'm just proud they were being careful.
Unlike my boomer uncle who once installed so many spam search toolbars that there was no screen real estate left to show webpages.
