This Is My First Post On Inking- I Have Prelims, Sketches, And Finished Pieces, But Not Inking, So I

This is my first post on inking- I have prelims, sketches, and finished pieces, but not inking, so I figured this would be a perfect start. This is a fan piece I did of Cardia, the main heroine in Code Realize ~The Guardian of Rebirth~ on the PS Vita. I have only played the prologue and the first chapter at my best friend's place (she introduced it to me- as with Hakuoki, which I also love dearly!), but I fell in love with it very quickly as I love otome games and Steampunk- it was the perfect storm! Anyway. This piece was inked with a G Tec Pilot black pen in .04, on smooth Bristol in the 300 series by Strathmore, like most of my work. The size is 11x14 instead of my usual 9x12 since I wanted to extend her skirt. Smooth Bristol is probably my favourite paper ever- it can handle marker VERY well and even watercolour, but the latter takes practise, so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. Though, it definitely is the most versatile paper I've ever used- plus, it's very easily accessible and almost always has a deal on so I can get it for cheaper than usual! :D

This Is My Process Of Creating A Sketch. I Start Off With A Preliminary Sketch On Simple Printer Paper
This Is My Process Of Creating A Sketch. I Start Off With A Preliminary Sketch On Simple Printer Paper

This is my process of creating a sketch. I start off with a preliminary sketch on simple printer paper so I can get my idea down. Once I have that, I do some splicing after either getting a critique or stepping back. I will write notes- sometimes these ideas don’t make the cut to my final sketch. Sometimes the prelim is what I use in the inking process if I’m happy enough with it, but I will generally re-draw the preliminary sketch into a Strathmore sketch book with all my fixes. Sometimes at this stage I will still need to do a few minor fixes (in this case, I need to shorten the arm on the left and move the right leg closer to the left leg- however, it’s very easy to move the sketch up so I can ink it with no problems. I just have to be careful). I generally use a mechanical pencil (a very simple one- just a Bic brand pencil, nothing fancy) and if I have one on hand, a gum eraser, which is like a vinyl eraser, but softer and easier to get dark marks off the paper. I will ink this once I get some coloured G Tec pens!

Once this is done, we will have a lovely classic lolita Princess Rapunzel. I’m thinking of doing the other Disney princesses, as you can see by my notes on my preliminary sketch! :D

Im So Sorry That I Was Away For So Long- I Was Busy With Vacation And The Fact That Im Going To Be Back

I’m so sorry that I was away for so long- I was busy with vacation and the fact that I’m going to be back in school soon doesn’t help, haha. I also apologize, but I probably won’t be uploading coloured work for a while- it will probably be sketches and doodles until I can find the time.

Anyway, this is a sketch of Sapphire from Steven Universe- I like the show enough to draw the characters, so yeah. However, I’m debating on how I should colour this- should I do this in traditional watercolours or watercolour markers? Oh well, I’ll figure it out. Done in mechanical pencil. Hopefully you like the simplicity of this as much as I do :)

Another Rapunzel Piece (can You Tell What My Favorite New Age Disney Movie Is Yet???)! I Started This

Another Rapunzel piece (can you tell what my favorite new age Disney movie is yet???)! I started this at school when I had a spare- I honestly just got bored so I decided to draw something pretty, which is the basis for almost all of my artwork, haha. I did this with only a mechanical pencil in a Strathmore sketchbook. Should I put up more sketches?
