Genre: Angst, Ex-Husband Jeon Jungkook

Warning: mention of failed marriage, implied longing and regret, remained firm with the current reality and decision.

A/N: Loosely basing this on one of the scenes from the movie Click! and on this song.

Word count: 427

“It’s our song” you smiled as he reached for your hand and you held on to it.

“It is,” Jungkook grinned as he gently pulled you in closer. His other hand pressed your arm endearingly, as you shyly looked away. Even with his wrinkles being prominent as a testament of time, his smile continued to make your heart flutter each time.

“Look at our kids” you said softly as he moved his hand from your arm to your waist leading you to the rhythm of the song and you followed.

“I know, last time we were just celebrating their birthdays, now we’re celebrating Jiyoung’s marriage” he chuckled at the thought and you did the same. You two stayed silent for a while, just completely mesmerized in each other’s eyes.

“You’re still beautiful” he uttered suddenly in between stillness and agitation of being so lost together. You shut your eyes and breathed at the sound of him saying that you are beautiful. “Remember that time when we first met?”

“I do. I never would have thought I’d fall for someone like you” you snickered as you twirled around him.

“Yet we have three beautiful kids” he stated while giving you a smug look.

“Well, I can’t argue with that” you chuckled as you watched him raise both his shoulders much to your chagrin.

“Even if your hair finally turned gray, and your hand all crinkled and folded…” he took your hand and gently kissed the back of your hand.

“Jungkook…” your voice cracked as you called his name.

“You’re still the girl I fell in love with Y/N” he pulled you in closer and you let yourself rest on his chest. “I wish I hadn’t left”

“It was right when that happened” it was the proper reply you can think of, despite feeling not right at all.

The song finally ended as your kids watched you two in loving awe. It was enough for them to have the thought of their parents together, even just for a couple of minutes. You went back to your seat where your husband waits for you, and you watched Jungkook smile on the other end with his present wife.

Yet Jungkook whispered something before you parted, and you held on to the pendant on your necklace as you remembered his words.

“Maybe in the next life, I’ll make it right for us”

You stared at the galaxy shaped pendant he gave when he once promised you everything in this universe, and you believed. You still believe him, and that always lingers.

you always seem to know what to say. people admire the ease with which you seem to navigate your life. maybe a few jealous ones even despise you for it. but your strength is your independency. whether the entire world is falling at your feet or not, you don't let your ability to learn and move forward be affected by them. it's admirable how much wisdom you give away for free, how nice and charming you remain even if others refuse to treat you the same and how you navigate life. i hope you know how much you're looked up to. and i also hope that you have someone to lean onto at times. however strong you might be, you weren't made to carry the weight of it all on your own.
