Regarding the wave of "what do you want to be when you grow up? / It's 75 degrees in November, we aren't growing up" posts, while they make for good jokes, I cannot stress enough that, jokes aside, it will not really work like that.
Not only is declaring that all hope is lost when it's unseasonably warm sort of the flip side of the coin to declaring that climate change is fake when the weather is normal, the idea that We Are Already Dead is just not true, especially if you live in the imperial core. Most people reading those posts will die of old age and natural causes, albeit in a much scarier world than we live in now.
The good news is that climate change will not come as a flash of light that kills us all before we're old. The better news is that we still have a future. The bad news is that the future is in deep shit. The worst news, at least for your peace of mind, is that you will have to fight for it to be in shallower shit.
If it was already over and we were all walking dead then you have no long term responsibilities and you could crack a beer and enjoy life before the asteroid hits. But you can't. Collapse will not come as a tsunami all at once, but like a rising tide. The water is already at your feet, and it's starting to reach the chest of people in the global south. You're in the shit. You've got a future. It's just gonna be hard, and it's gonna be harder then if you erroneously decide now you just aren't gonna be there for it.
Abandon the comforting delusion of hopelessness.
