You knocked on the door and then waited patiently. As every other time, you weren’t allowed in without permission. Maybe nothing much would happen if you just entered. But maybe you’d get in trouble, which you didn’t really need in your life. It probably depended on whether he was alone, but you were in no position to know what. In the organization’s hierarchy, you were in the lowest place possible. But since he, the person on top, was the only one that could control you, you were relatively safe, as long as you didn’t anger him. Yet, you didn’t know anything about the politics of this place, and to be completely honest, you didn’t want to know.

He was the only reason you were here. You didn’t need money, nor power, nor even respect.
