Speaking of art fight, *checks notes* aaaa month ago, I made new references for some of my og characters. A bit more rushed perhaps but there is some nice evidence of subtle skill growth from last year.

I especially love how Reese’s hair has translated into a kinda wolfcut now that I’m drawing him again.

Reese is a Shapeless on the run. Able to shift into the innocuous form of a cat, they spent their time drifting about towns and cities, and as a wolf travel far. He relishes in the freedom his forms bring, but honestly doesn't quite know what he's doing with himself on a personal level. After a point they end up crashing on Rosemary and crew’s couch, and start figuring it out from there. He’s snarky and aloof, but when confronted more awkward than anything—and more than he’d like.

Are those tufts of hair or ears on the top of their head? Answer: it varies.

Absolutely adore how his bust came out, like that facial structure??? Idk don’t talk to me I usually just draw a vague egg and call it a day. Similarly to Reese, Ashely’s hair translated really well now that I actually understand how to draw hair goodstyle. Very fluffy ~v~ (Looking back on it a lot of my old character designs had very anime shape based chunks for hair lol).

I do wanna look into bird anatomy tho bc I’ve been drawing those wings practically the same since day one. And… it’s not great.

Ashely (or just Ashe) is a 19 year old Avian with, like, so many baggage. He’s generally quiet, but very observant and a bit of a problem solver. When he first met Rosemary he relied on her to an unhealthy extent, but over time he grows into a more functionally independent person—even if he’d still very much rather be near his friends.

His wings are fashioned after a Brown Thrasher.

Howdy! I’ll admit I don’t remember what got me started following you, but welcome to mutual-ship anyhow!

Soul eater was like my favorite thing ever all throughout my tweens and teens so like I definitely recommend it. It’s a great balance of humorous and cool, and spooky vibes without being super dark. Can’t recommend a series with a kickass female protagonist and her failboy partner enough!

That said tho, while evidently from my most recent post I am still very nostalgic for it, I haven’t watched soul eater in years and maybe teenaged Shiv’s taste was a little different than current Shiv’s,,,,,

For more crunchy advice: The anime strays from the manga around three quarters of the way through. And while there is fun things in those last episodes, you can kinda tell by the end that it was a rushed thing they just made up. The anime can totally stand on its own if you want, but you could also dip into the manga after—because the anime only covers about one quarter of the manga. There’s a lot of things that get fleshed out much better in the manga, so I personally was itching to get to know the world and characters more. The authors a bit of a pervert tho, and that bleeds into the story in really annoying ways. The anime toned down the fanservice and mostly kept it to one adult character (outside of the first three episodes).

But don’t let all that deter you!! It’s a real fun show with a great protagonist duo, a slightly different art style—which is always a breath of fresh air to see—and a really interesting soundtrack. I tend to waffle between sub and dub for things but I personally really like the dub for this one!
