Baby Driver and His Headphones

In the movie “Baby Driver”, Baby (the main character) wears headphones pretty much the whole time in an attempt to drown out the ringing of his tinnitus. He developed tinnitus from a car accident that resulted in the death of his parents.

I’ve been noticing some people are confused by this as he can still understand everything going on around him, despite the fact he has headphones in with the music loud. He is actually reading lips, using subtext, and mood.

I am hard of hearing. I get massive headaches from my ears and brain trying to discern and make sense of all the sounds around me. If you know me, you know I wear my headphones basically 24/7. I do the exact same thing Baby does. I am able to understand practically everything, even with my music turned up all the way. If you watch the film, you’ll see that Baby takes out his headphones while talking to people on occasion. I do this out of habit and manners.

So yes, it is possible for people to understand what is happening with headphones in 24/7. Not all people can do it. It is a skill people with hearing loss tend to develop.

I’d also like to mention… Please, please, PLEASE do not take our headphones out. It is super rude and plain mean. Also super happy they included ASL! And another thing, I do not recommend wearing headphones 24/7. It can cause damage to your ears. In my case it doesn’t really matter, but please take care of your ears!

The city that once had bright lights and colorful sounds… now sirens fill the air and the city is as dark as ever.

When she was young, she remembered how the city used to be. Everyone seemed happy, and everyone had smiles on their faces.

The city now reminds her of a place that has no light..

She was out walking around, doing nothing but looking at different buildings; going down memory lane. She looked at her watch and saw that it was almost nine and she should get home. She knew what would happen if she stayed out much longer.

She turned the corner, onto the street of where she lived. She sighed out loud… if only she felt safe..

Because everyone knew the city was no longer.

Once she reached her house she pulled out her house keys. She knew her roommate was still working until ten, so she would be alone for awhile.

Which didn’t help either. She walked onto her property and towards the door. She unlocks the door, and walks inside.

Only her calmness of being home was replaced with anxiety and fear. She saw that her entire front living room, and dining room were complete destroyed. Everyone was thrown on the floor, and broken glass was everywhere.

Screw fear, she was entirely scared and wanted to cry.

She pulled out her phone, and dialed 911. Her hands were shaking the entire time she was on the phone with the operator.

“Police will be there in 10 minutes.” The voice said. She quietly thanked them and hung up.

She might as well look around to see if anything was stolen.

She walked around the room, looking if anything was out of place.

She walked into the the hallway, and into her room.

And she couldn’t believe what she saw next.

A man was tied to a chair in the middle of her room. And he didn’t look alive.
