I love when fiction makes the audience feel guilty about their role as the audience. When something fucked up is treated as a joke but later it's recognised how fucked up it was and the audience feels guilty for finding it funny. When a character breaks the fourth wall to plead for help, and you can't do anything so you just watch. And you know that the characters pain isn't real, but they're begging for help and you're not helping because their suffering is entertainment for you

Upon a second read of the secret history, bunny takes up a tragic and endearing quality which was not apparent initially. His little cartoons and calling people 'old man' become more friendly and less irritating. I can see myself being friends with him. Perhaps that is what is so sad about it. He's so pathetic and cringefail you try and excuse his flaws, even those that are unforgivable because you know what happens to him.

that whole 'love doesn't conquer everything' paragraph is exactly this as unpleasant as he could be when he wanted he was also so funny in general and i loved reading of his shenanigans with everyone didn't think i'd miss his stupid iconic 'yes yes old man' way of speaking as much as i actually did when he died like him or not you could FEEL his absence sorry it's almost april and i'm thinking about him <\3 rb
