I absolutely love your interpretation of unmasked Ancients!

I immediately fell in love with it on first sight and had to try drawing them like that the first chance I got lol.

They’re so fun to draw this way haha, you have permanently affected how I depict Ancients :) (in the best way possible)

Some little Ancients I designed last night! I decided to finally give it a go and practice drawing them for the first time, and I'm really happy with how these two turned out! I thought capturing the complexity of their designs and the geometric nature of their masks would be a lot harder, but honestly it was pretty fun to just somewhat absentmindedly add whatever on them!

Generally I tend to break the Ancient designs into 2 categories: the "street style" ones which feature more modern clothing (namely t-shirts and sneakers) and the "antiquated" ones with more traditional outfits. Here I just did one of each for practice.

Also, here's the full page below, with some initial concept notes for how I plan to portray these guys:

As you can see, my love of anthropomorphism means that even though these guys are humanoid, I will still find a way to make them animal-like!

Alright, I feel like this is a good post to share this on.

Where I used to work there were completely gender neutral washrooms. The way it was set up was an alcove with sinks, and the stalls were their own separate private rooms attached to the public hand washing station. These stalls had full doors an walls, no gaps.

It was fucking amazing!!! There was absolutely no awkwardness of public bathrooms because it offered great privacy, and I found that it was significantly more efficient because ppl weren’t blocked from an available stall simply because of their gender. Not to mention that both of the wheelchair friendly stalls would be available to anyone who needed them.

It was just a significantly more efficient and pleasant system. The only thing probably stopping more ppl from building these is the cost, but I genuinely think it’s an amazing response to more than just the question of gender inclusion in washrooms. It addresses most problems that are caused by the design of public washrooms, Including the fact that the way we build them is cost-saving first, and comfort is only considered much later down the line.

I honestly think that when it comes to public washrooms, we’ve been conditioned to be ok with with doing our business in proximity to those of the same gender, to an extent. I don’t think that’s the default, I don’t think we like having anyone being in the same washroom as us. We’ve just had to work with what society decided we should be ok with.

the idea of public restrooms as "women's spaces" continues to confound me. you know who I hope is in a public bathroom when I go in?? no one. I would prefer no one else be in the bathroom. and if someone else is in the bathroom I am going to ignore them as much as possible. I did not go into the bathroom to connect with other women. I went into the bathroom to piss and/or shit. it's a toilet's space, not a women's space. shut the fuck up and let trans people piss and shit in peace. let's all continue to avoid eye contact with each other and any and all interaction in the toilet's space.

It makes the subject look like they are actually aiming. Bent arms are ok if they are resting and peering over their gun.

I finally managed to acquire a poncho in the style of the ones my characters in my comic wear and these are the first in a series of studies of it I’m making. Ponchos are very unusual and it’s wonderful that I no longer have to guess how they look if I’m caught with a strange pose.
