One Soul, Two Bodies - Beginning

Summary: You and your best friends are out on a trip around the country, when you suddenly break down. It’s nearing night-time, and there’s an empty cabin nearby, which you take cover in.
When you wake up, there’s seven strange men grilling you for your Goldilocks-like activities, yet also claiming to be werewolves, and that you’re one of their mates. It’s… wild.

"I can't believe you didn't check we had enough fuel!"
"And I can't believe you didn't think to mention that we didn't put any of the canisters in the trunk!"
"Shut up!" I shout, slamming my hand against the bonnet. They spin to look at me, silencing falling over our little group. The sun gets lower in the sky the longer we stand there arguing and racking our brains.
"Wait! We drove past that house a couple of miles back right? We'll camp out in there!" Ria screeches, doing a little jump in the air and running towards the car. We stare after her, heads cocking in sync.
"Someone probably lives there, Ria." Lena states, speed-walking towards her and stopping her over-exaggerated yanks at the door handles.
"I'm sure they'll let us stay. Who in their right mind would turn down three cute girls stumbling on their doorstep?"
"Literally anyone that's seen the beginning of a horror movie. It's either us that are the killers or we bring the killers with us."
"Well, I'm not the killer." Lena yanks open the trunk, side-eyeing Ria.
"What? It's not me!" They both slightly turn their bodies towards me, flashing a stinky side-eye.
"You two will be my first victims if we don't get a move on. It's gonna be sunset soon." We grab our jackets, beginning our trek back to the elusive house that was probably at least five miles away. Great.

The sun has long since set by the time we get to the house, the moon high in the sky. A few stars have even started to appear, the clouds disappearing the moment the moon started to rise.
The house is actually a rather large cabin, mostly hidden by trees but exposed by a large flat area of grass. It looks worn in, but has no tire marks or foot tracks.
There seems to be no signs of life inside the cabin, all the lights are off and the windows shut, curtains even drawn in some places.
We walk closer, stepping into the clearing to see if anyone was hiding amongst the trees. There isn't anyone we can see, so we start moving closer to the cabin itself.
We walk up the creaky wooden steps, stepping onto the patio and simply staring at the large door in-front of us. None of us move, we just stare.
"Should one of us knock?" Lena stage-whispers, rocking on the balls of her feet. I glance at her, noticing her stare at the both of us, obviously wishing it wasn't going to be her. I move my stare to Ria beside me; she seems unhappy at this new development. Nevertheless, she moves her arm upwards, creating what seemed to be an incredibly loud knock against the door. It's still echoing in the night air, and my ears.
Surprise surprise: nobody answers. Not even a creak of a floorboard or the click of a lock can be heard from inside the house.
Ria lifts her hand up again. She doesn't knock. Instead, it diverts to the handle, quickly pulling it down and open to reveal it was unlocked.
Who leaves their door unlocked in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night?!
"Let's go. They're obviously serial killers trying to lure us in." Ria mutters, moving back a few inches, closer to the patio steps than us.
"But at least we could get warm and fed before they kill us. Get your priorities in check, Ria." Lena hisses, twisting around to grab her and drag her back to us. I giggle at the exchange, shaking my head at the stupid situation we've found ourselves in.
Of course we'd forget to pack the fuel canisters. Of course we'd have to make a detour for something to eat despite us eating beforehand. Of course Ria has a bladder like a grape. And of course we'd be stranded in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere with no other choice than to go into a random house in the middle of the woods like some low-budget thriller movie. Why wouldn't this happen?!
Ria and Lena bicker, shoving at each-other to not be the first ones to go into the house. Angrily, I shove past the both of them, high-tailing into the house.
"Hello?" I call into the empty space, no sounds rewarding me with a reply. I sigh, spinning around to indicate for the other two to follow, which they do, uncertainly. Now, time to find the kitchen.

The next half an hour was spent trailing around the house, looking for familiar rooms and any signs of life. The cabin is fairly lived-in, not a speck of dust or out-of-date food in the fridge or freezer.
After having two cups of noodles each, along with some bread, we decide to settle down to sleep in the lounge/living room. That way, we'll be alert and ready to run if the residents of the house do decide to appear or if a demon suddenly appears through the floorboards. Either could happen.
Sleepily, we decide to take it in shifts. I'll go first, from 8pm until midnight, Ria'll take over until 4am, where Lena will stay awake until 8am. After that, Ria and I will get started on breakfast and finding a way to get our car filled with fuel while Lena has a quick nap.
It's not like the owners will be back that early in the morning anyway. Unless they happen to be serial killers who've been camping out in the woods and watching us this entire time, waiting for the right moment to strike and kill us in some gory yet still PG way.
We can only hope. And eat their food. Hopefully without consequences.

I glance around the lounge, taking notes that the only sounds are whistles coming from Ria's nose and the wind outside. If I focus really hard, I can almost hear howls in the distance. It's probably a mountain lion or cougar. At least, I hope that it's just a mountain lion or cougar.
I don't want to be a big cat's lunch.
I steal a glance at my watch, noting that it's not even halfway into my supposed 'shift.' I'm bored. There's simply no other way to put it. I rise to a stand, deciding to watch out of the window for a while.
There's a full moon high in the sky, not even a cloud to be seen. The stars and constellations are clear, making it seem like the perfect night to just lay under the stars and get lost in your thoughts.
The trees dance a little with the wind, grass moving more viciously.
Lena loudly rolls over, blankets shuffling and sofa creaking. It shatters the silence like glass, my breath hitching as it does so. It's almost like the slightest noise could shatter the safety we're relying upon and bring all the demons and axe-wielding maniacs out of the shadows. The house goes silent once more as I side-eye Lena, deciding that if anyone suddenly appears holding a weapon, she'll be the one to blame and subsequently the one I'll use as a human shield.
Everything goes silent once again; uncomfortably silent. The grass has even stopped dancing outside. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up, goosebumps lining my arms.
Something isn't right.
Lena rolls over again.
The grass begins to move again.

Midnight finally rolls around, a spring in my step as I hold back a yawn and shake Ria awake. She grumbles and slaps away my hands, but a firm kick to her leg makes her shoot up. Her glare is deadly, like sharp daggers against my smooth skin. I send my best non-shit-eating smile her way, tucking into my makeshift bed on the floor as she fixes her glare on me. I roll over, my back towards her, and finally shut my heavy eyes.
Sleep.

I'm awake but I don't open my eyes yet. I don't even move.
Somehow, this floor is comfy.
And soft.
I shuffle my hips a little.
And bouncy.
I can't even find it in myself to care, just squeezing my eyes shut and hoping for the best.
I mean, it's not like the serial murderers are gonna treat me to a nap on a nice mattress before they start cutting off my limbs and ripping out my teeth, right?
Right?

"Why isn't she awake yet? Do you think she's dead?" I hear a male voice behind me, my breath hitching in my throat. I try my hardest not to move a muscle whilst also trying to be relaxed as I can, desperate not to draw any attention to myself.
"She's obviously not dead, dumbass. You can hear her heartbeat." Another voice argues. I furrow my eyebrow, before quickly rectifying it and setting my face back to normal.
"She's also awake, dumbasses. Come on, sugar, we know you're alive." A third speaks, before I feel a hand quickly grab at my leg over the quilt. I shoot up, jumping out of the comfortable bed, slapping the hand away as I take in the men staring down at me.
Not just three.
Not four.
Not even SIX.
SEVEN MEN.
The room spins, and I suddenly get closer to the floor.
Ouch.

The men sat Lena, Ria and I in a row on the couch, standing around us in a semi-circle and glaring heavily.
Ria's entire body is shaking in fear, making the seat cushions vibrate along with her. Lena is the complete opposite, being frozen in fear; you can barely see her breathe or blink.
I try and keep my eyes on as many of the men as I can, making sure they can't sneak up on us and try to hurt us.
They're all huge, and there's next to no chance we could get away unscathed if they suddenly decide to snap and attack. They're all at least six or seven feet tall, with muscles and body masses to match. They look like the pictures on the front of those cheap erotic novels about sexy pirates or something like that, definitely unrealistic with their good looks and sleek dark hair.
"Who are you and what are you doing in our home?" The one closest to Lena asks, teeth gritting and socked foot tapping against the floor.
Lena and I share a look behind Ria's head, staying silent. Ria continues to shiver and shake, eyes fixed forward on the floor.
"Come on. We're not gonna kill you." The one beside him comments, rolling his eyes. After a few seconds of silence, they seem to realise we're not going to break so easily and just begin answering their questions.
The largest one of them takes a small step forward, our eyes flying to watch him carefully. I twist my fingers together, beginning to breathe through my nose in an attempt to stay calm.
He makes another step, then another before dropping to a squat and finally sitting down on the floor not even a foot away from where our legs are. He holds up his hands, managing to lock eyes with Lena and I before attempting to do the same with Ria.
She doesn't let him, simply moving her gaze to her lap. He doesn't push her, instead choosing to look between Lena and I. The rest of the men sit down where they are, focusing on the one currently closest to us.
"Hello, my name's Namjoon and I'm the Alpha of this pack in the home you're currently sat in. Please state your name and purpose, and maybe we can get started on brunch; I'm famished." We stare at him openly, faces set in confusion. I chance a glance at the other men, quickly noticing that they look more exhausted than angry at this point.
"Your names first." Ria croaks out, a heavy glare aimed at the one calling himself Alpha.
He doesn't disagree: only nods and uses his head to motion the men to begin.
The one closest to Lena begins again, huffing a little.
"Yoongi."
The next.
"Jungkook."
"Jimin."
"Hoseok."
"Taehyung."
"Seokjin."
I don't even bother trying to memorise them, knowing that's way too many names to try to remember right away. I can tell the other girls are the same, just glancing between each man and thinking of something to call him. The inside of my head is a mess.
"I'm Ria."
"Lena."
"Y/N."
"Lovely to meet you all. What were you doing here: Ria, Lena and Y/N?"
Lena and Ria stay silent for a few seconds at first, all of us sharing glances. I step up to answer.
"Our car broke down last night, we needed somewhere to stay. Your door was unlocked and we thought you'd never know."
"Unlocked?" He slightly turns his head to glare down at Jimin, who's cheeks have turned a light-pink colour.
"Yeah. We thought we'd be long gone before you got back, but obviously not."
"Well, at least these three Goldilocks weren't planning to stay." I roll my eyes at Jimin's sly jab, fed up already.
"We'll be getting out of your hair now. I'm sure we can call a tow truck or something now that the sun's up." Lena jumps in, patting Ria's leg in an attempt to try and get us moving and standing.
“Wait! How about we come to an agreement?"
…
"A month, that's all you want?" Lena.
"Is this some kind of serial killer thing? Spend a month with us before killing us and keeping our corpses?" Me.
"Why could you possibly need us for one month?" Ria.
The men don't reply at first, mouths simply opening and closing as they share glances. We continue to stare at them, trying to be as unnerving as possible with what little scariness we have.
"Should we tell them?" Seokjin stage-whispers to Namjoon, raising his eyebrows and smacking his lips together loudly after. The boys return to looking at each other heavily, seemingly communicating through telepathy. I raise an eyebrow, looking at Ria out of the corner of my eye to see she's doing the same. Lena's downright bored, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms across her chest.
The men don't intimidate us half as much as they did when they first arrived, in fact; it's like they're the ones bothering us in our home rather than the other way around.
"Well..."

And so, the explanation of werewolves began. It's truly a lot.
Namjoon thankfully hadn't started from the very beginning but he was still heavily packing information in.
Most of it completely went over our heads! Some bits of information we already knew from current media and the movies out there, whilst some tidbits were completely unfamiliar but we listened heavily to.
The reason they wanted to keep us? Mates.
A werewolf's true mate, no matter the species (turns out vampires are a thing too....did I fall asleep and wake up in some sort of Twilight universe?) will always carry a mark to match with the werewolf.
He had told the story of a leader of a pack not too far from here, who had found her mate from a matching birthmark on the sole of their left feet, fittingly in the shape of a paw print. We had all glared at him heavier after that, wishing he would just come out with whatever he needed to say.
He continued on, saying how once a wolf and their true mate met, they would have until the next full moon to make their decision: stay or go. One month to decide the rest of your lives, even shorter than that if you arrived late in the next cycle. We had one month to bond with our 'soulmates' and then decide if we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with them.
He went silent for a little while after that; opening his mouth only to close it again after a few seconds. Even the other men had stopped with their tasks, the kitchen going from having loud sounds of scraping cutlery and shuffling of chairs to complete silence in seconds.
If we chose to stay, we would spend the rest of our lives with them and the pack: having their kids (if we chose to), staying faithful and living out your lives until you die.
If we chose to go, nothing would happen. Nothing would be affected until both parties reached fifty(which is seen as the middle of a typical werewolf's life) and both parties would begin to decline physically; yet their bodies would push them to be reunited. The two then die together, surrounded by their separate families as they begin their life in the afterlife together.
We were all a little upset at that, yet slightly comforted. We'd die peacefully and in love, no matter who we chose.
Lena had been the first one to break the silence, asking who's mate was who's. Namjoon opened his mouth to answer after a glance at the boys, but was stopped by a loud high-pitched screech sounding from Jungkook. We all stared at him with confusion painted on our faces, waiting for an explanation for the sudden shrieking yet none ever came.

"We've only matched one of you definitively, the other two are more theoretical." Namjoon continues after a minute of silence from Jungkook, running his eyes over the three of us. "Do you want us to do this privately or..?"
"Well? Which one of us is definitive?!" I ask, folding my arms over my chest. He's hesitating and shuffling around in his seat a lot, avoiding eye contact with all of us by keeping his gaze on the floor.
"You, Y/N. You have a matching scar and birthmark."

— pairing: jungkook x f!reader — genre: mermaid au, yandere au — w.c: 1.9k — warnings: mild stalking, near drowning, mentions of eating humans — notes: just wanted to contribute something to mermay! this is also my first time attempting to do anything in the realms of yandere (and mermaids!), so pls be nice lol. in this universe everyone is referred to as a mermaid, no matter what gender they are. this will most likely be a two or three part series with jk growing more and more obsessed as he gets y/n into his scaly clutches :)

— summary: you had always found comfort in being at the beach, often spending hours just watching the waves lap against the shore. but unbeknowst to you – something had been watching you back.
You inhale deeply, enjoying the salty smell that so uniquely belongs to the ocean. The last rays of sun are slowly disappearing behind the horizon, painting the skies and the waves in hues of deep pink and purple. You’re going to miss this view.
You sigh, running your fingers through the coarse sand as you let the gentle breeze caress your face. You’ve been looking forward to this for years, but now that your departure is so imminent, it feels more scary than liberating. The time has come to finally leave your home behind, and you feel a pang of regret as you realize you might not see your friends or family for a very long time to come.
Years of saving up your measly paychecks have finally paid off, and you’re setting sail for an island you’ve been hearing constant murmurs about for the last few months. Originally, you were only going to travel to the next kingdom over, hoping to find more suitable work there to help your parents stay afloat. But the talk of the mystery island abundant with riches piped your interest more than you would like to admit – and you’ve never been one to shy away from adventure.
However, you weren’t stupid enough to just blindly trust the rumours milling around your little town. In fact, you wholeheartedly believed it to be a scam until a familiar face suddenly turned up in the town square only a few weeks ago.
You hadn’t seen Jimin ever since he set sail for the unknown six months ago; and so everyone, including yourself, had presumed that your talkative neighbour had met an ill fate, and was floating at the bottom of the sea. You realized you couldn’t have been more wrong when Jimin returned with riches you never expected you would ever lay eyes on, his whole body adorned with various diamonds and gold chains.
