More Details You Missed In Kilmer & Shama
Kiss Of Judas: I'll start off with the coolest detail. Christian imagery is used to put more depth into Clay and Kalmia. The story of the crucifix basically sums up their whole relationship. The cross symbolizes love but also betrayal.
Clay Pool is a parallel to Jesus Christ
Kalmia is a parallel to Judas Iscariot
In Christianity, before Jesus was crucified he was betrayed by Judas with a kiss. The kiss in shama was foreshadowing that Clay was going to take Kalmia's sin of murder onto herself. This is a really cool detail left out for any of those who had a christian background.
In addition, the term "Judas" is now used to address someone who is a traitor. Kalmia's and Judas' names both mean betrayal.
Kalmia kisses Clay one last time before they depart. This likely happens at night in, because Clay drunked her co-workers to sleep with alcohol. Jesus Christ was also betrayed at night before he was arrested.
One last thing, this symbolism makes sense because shama is supposed to be the opposite of Kilmer. Kilmer is based off Greek Mythology, and shama is based off Christianity. They are literal opposites of each other. This is also a clever way to put the story in chronological order. Greek Mythology technically came before Christianity. So Kilmer comes before shama.
Walking Down Aisle/Wedding Motifs: Kalmia walks down to aisle like a bride at the beginning and end of the MV. Her "husband" is Gui. This is a metaphor for a forced marriage due to sex trafficking. Instead of bounding her life with Gui, she kills him instead.
Kalmia also wears a black dress instead of a traditional white one.
Prayer Room Foreshadowing: There is a very small detail in Kilmer that foreshadows that a character will be shot by a gun. Whoever leaves the prayer room gets shot. It's a metaphor to how the world is cruel and that churches are sanctuaries.
Kalmia's mother is pulled out by Gui and shot in the head
Clay Pool is taken out of the prayer room by Livara and is shot in the back. (also, if you didn't know this was also symbolism. Clay was back-stabbed by Kalmia, so her being shot in the back is a clever way to allude to the betrayal.)
Kalmia walks out by herself. Gui attempts to shoot her in the head but misses.
Eyes and Hair: In shama, there are silhouettes of Kalmia only with her eyes and hair colored. Coincidentally these are the only things that kept her alive. She cuts her hair to escape jail and, as theorized by @milktiara , her heterochromia is the reason her life was spared by Gui
Ask not what you can do to Rinne Amagi, but what Rinne Amagi can do to you
He can (and will) break into your apartment, steal your socks and any alcohol in his line of sight, all while leaving a trail of poker chips on the floor. Not that I know from experience or anything! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😀🤣🤣🤣
