If this was any other man you would have given him shit if he made you walk this much, but it was Taehyung and he really wanted to show you the desserts at his favorite cafe. He said that they always put up the prettiest lights for the holidays so you could have a nice view while eating yummy cupcakes.

When he asked you to hang out, you were over the moon, on cloud nine, in heaven. Of course you dreamt of this before, you’ve even wished for it, but you never thought this day would actually come. Kim Taehyung asked you to hang out? The best part was he wanted you to try his friend’s new cupcake flavors.

Wasn’t that something couples do? Try new food together? Oh you don’t know but your heart swirled with love at the idea.

You must have been in a slow daze because you almost ran into Taehyung, who had been waiting for you to catch up to him.

“You okay?” Taehyung asked, seeing how puffy and pink your cheeks were from the snowy air.

FINALE

Sum: Being a stray hybrid in the city is suffocating. In search of a clearer mind, body, and soul you head to the country. In a way it’s much what you expected. Two things are different. There’s a group of seven boys you never expected to meet, and despite the change in location something still seems to be keeping you from breathing freely.

Of course, the first place Taehyung took you was the doctors. You’d never been to one and it did make you feel a little jumpy. You weren’t a fan of the sterile and empty space. But Taehyung kept his fingers laced through yours the entire time. Honestly you would have preferred Namjoon to be your doctor, but Tae wanted you to see a professional hybrid doctor. You walked out with your shoulder in a brace and your arm in a sling. The doctor promised that you’d heal fairly soon. In the meantime you were to avoid doing anything with it.

“Looks like I’ll be spoiling you rotten for a month or so huh?” Tae teased you as you got in the car.

“Honestly I think I’ll get bored. I like running around with you guys, and the weather is getting warmer…”

“Sorry pup, but absolutely not.” Taehyung answered firmly, though he sounded sympathetic. The rest of the drive to the new hotel (no way they’d stay at the old one after what happened) was quiet. You’d never really seen the city from a car, much less as a legal hybrid. Everything looked a little different, less frightening.

The hotel clerk did give your bruises and sling a slightly questioning glance, but avoided any recognition of your ears and tail on full display. You went into yours and Tae’s room to find all the boys camped in there playing Mario Kart on the TV. Their heads turned the second they heard the door open, and next thing you knew, you were practically engulfed in many pairs of arms.

“Thank you guys for getting Lil out by the way.”

“No problem” Jimn, Jungkook and Namjoon said. “any idea where she’s going to go?”

“No, no one has told me anything, but I’m sure she’ll be well taken care of. Also, Chim.” you turned to him. “How did the red suit escapade go?” you watched Jimin as his expression turned slightly sheepish. The boys were cackling.

“Well… it worked? Control didn’t actually get the ferret dude-”

“Weasel” you corrected

“Weasel?- Anyway, they didn’t get him, but the guard lady asked me to go to a bar with her afterward. I did because I figured it would keep her distracted longer. I ended up running away from her 5 minutes in. Which I feel sort of bad about, but she’d found some more interested dude by the end.”

“Hyung also found someone cute” Jungkook ratted him out and you watched Jimin splutter.

“Ooh, tell me about her”

“I don’t know much yet, she’s still a student and she was just there with friends-”

“He knows her number though.”

Teasing Jimin about the girl lasted for quite a while. It was interrupted by Jin, he'd heard your stomach rumbling.

“Alright, everyone. I’m making food for brunch. Y/n” he pointed to the table by the small kitchenette. “Sit, I’ll have you taste testing” You ended up eating random bits of food as you waited. The boys were making plans for a last-day-in-the-city shopping trip. Taehyung sat quietly beside you.

“Y/n, do you want to come shopping with me?” Hobi asked. You nodded and gave him an agreeing squeak through a mouthful of fried rice.

Jin clicked his tongue “don’t talk with food in your mouth”

An hour or so later you were quite full. Hoseok excitedly dragged you to the mall. Yoongi tagged along. You’d only used the mall before as a way to lose pursuers, so it was nice to go shopping. Taehyung went to discuss legal stuff with Max.

You caught Yoongi staring at a set of baseball bats in a sports good store “Maybe we can find out your old owner’s address…” he murmured.

“Moving on” Hoseok quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him away. The three of you ran all around the mall. Yoongi found a music store and refused to come out, so you and Hobi ended up wandering around. You found a Gucci store, and you pulled Hobi in with you. You weren’t sure if they would welcome hybrids, so you kept a grip on Hobi’s sleeve the entire time. You were looking for something for Tae. You knew you’d get an allowance from the organization soon, so you talked Hobi into paying for something first and you’d pay him back later. Eventually you found the perfect gift. A pair of fluff-lined loafers. They were slide-ons, like Taehyung liked them.

You walked out later, happy with your purchase. That evening the 8 of you ate at an Italian buffet. Jin and Kookie turned it into a competition of who could eat more. By the end, both of them were insisting they ate the most and the buffet staff were staring at the mountain of plates on your table in slight horror.

The stay at the new hotel was pleasant. You fell asleep on Taehyung’s shoulder as he shopped online. Half asleep, you felt him scoop you up and carry you to one of the beds. You happily curled into the sheets.

The next day Taehyung’s alarm woke you when it was still dim. You both rolled out of your beds, and shuffled around, packing the last of your scattered belongings. You stumbled out, still bleary eyed. The others all wandered out of their rooms in varying states of dishevelment. Jungkook’s eyes were still mostly closed, he was still in his pajamas with a coat overtop. Jin was leading him around by the arm. You checked out and made your way through the quiet streets to the parking garage. The morning rush hadn’t started yet. You piled your bags into the car before turning to go to the nearest convenience store to find the best junk food. As you were walking away, your sensitive ears picked up a scuffling sound that they boys likely didn’t notice. You flicked your head back just in time to see the small foot of a young boy and a familiar looking brown cat tail disappear beneath the tarp in the back of Jungkook’s truck. The tarp thumped as if someone beneath it was wagging their tail excitedly. You smiled slightly, it looked like you’d be combining your city family and your country family.

You stayed quiet, and continued the walk to the convenience store. It was fairly clean and had a surprisingly large variety of food in the fridge. It was fairly good too. You ended up grabbing a breakfast sandwich and a fruit salad. You also snuck a few donuts into your basket. You kept them carefully hidden from Taehyung, who paid for them. You got back to the garage a couple minutes later. You waited until the boys were all crowded around their own bags, and snuck over to Jungkook’s truck. You pulled the donuts out and unceremoniously shoved them under the tarp.

You heard a surprised gasp from Chann, and Lil muttered a “Thanks”. It sounded like Charcoal attempted to bark, but someone grabbed his mouth before he did,

Soon you all piled into your respective cars. Yoongi had the bigger car, so he ended up driving you, Taehyung, Namjoon, and Hobi. Jungkook had managed to cram Jimin and Hoseok in the backseat of his truck on the way there, with Jin in passengers. But the back seat was pretty small, so Hobi moved to Yoongi’s car and Jimin got the back seat all to himself. Adding Hobi to the car made things a lot more chaotic. You laughed as you watched him and Jungkook waving at each other between cars. Jungkook waggled back and forth as Hobi’s infectious laughter rang through the car.

You didn’t spend much time looking out the window, but at one point you were surrounded by skyscrapers. The next time you looked out you were passing through the broken outskirts, and you stopped at the rundown gas station for a bathroom break. Then you passed through the scrubby area of undergrowth and weeds, a light rain was drizzling and it felt like everything was being washed clean. You looked up when sunlight began shining in. You were in the forest by that point, and it was still raining lightly. The gravel was crunching under the wheels. You immediately jumped for the window. You rolled it down, getting rid of the tinted glass and letting in stray droplets of rain. Hobi squeaked in the back.

It was beautiful outside. There were new leaves on the trees, a bright fresh green and though it was raining lightly, the sun was shining in from the side. Every droplet caught the golden sun, glittering like diamonds. You breathed in the smell of the first spring rain. It smelt earthy and leafy all at once. The gravel underneath the car crackled and the rain was pattering gently on the roof of the car. It was fairly cool outside, but the sun on your face felt warm.

“Quick break!?” you yelled at Yoongi. He nodded and slowed to a stop, pulling over to the side of the road. Jungkook followed behind. You watched Jin poke his head out of the window.

“Yah! Why are we stopping?”

“Just taking a break” Joon yelled back. “Going to go look at the scenery”

“Lets get it!” Jungkook practically launched himself out of the car. “Aish, hyung was being so annoying.”

“Can I switch cars, his puns are driving me crazy. Jimin also hopped out with a lollipop in his mouth.

“Hey stob it!, you love my dad jokes!” Jin quipped. You found yourself rolling your eyes and the bickering trio.

You hopped out of the car as well. You found a little mossy hill a short way from the cars, and you climbed up it to look around. You could hear the sound of the rain on leaves and moss, with the occasional twittering of a bird. Your heart felt so unbelievably light, no dead weights dragging you down. Taehyung clambered up beside you. You leaned into him when he pulled your side against his with a hand around your shoulders. He felt warm and comforting.

“It’s so pretty” you murmured

“Yeah… yeah it is.”

You turned your head toward him, and found him looking at you gently “...Thanks for helping me out. I think you saved my life in a way. I don’t know if I would have died or anything, but you saved it from being a total nightmare.”

“It was my pleasure.” He gave you a little goofy bow, making you laugh. “Still sure you want to live with me?” he teasingly raised an eyebrow at you. You could hear the other guys chattering in the background.

“Of course I couldn’t be happier anywhere else.” and you meant it with all your heart. Taehyung seemed to understand you meant it, because his eyes grew soft. His curly hair was framing his face, the ends of his hair damp and glowing in the sunshine. He looked perfect and absolutely lovable.

It wasn’t a conscious decision, and you moved before you understood exactly what you were doing.

You stood on your tiptoes, and stretched your head up to quickly brush a soft kiss on his lips. It was barely there, and the second you pulled back you wanted to kiss him more, but you realized what you’d done. You heard the chattering of the boys go dead silent. Suddenly you could feel your heart pounding loudly in your ears. You were nervous, but you knew Taehyung wouldn’t hurt you, and if he didn’t feel the same back, you knew he would be kind about it. And you cared for him enough that you would never push him. It was mostly awkwardness that you felt. You weren’t particularly used to … kissing people. You could feel your ears and cheeks burning slightly.

Taehyung’s expression was completely shocked, eyes wide and his mouth slightly open. You began speaking hesitantly. “Uhm… are… are you ok?” you smiled awkwardly at him.

Suddenly he leaned forward. One of his arms wrapped around your waist, pulling your torso flush against his. His other hand cradled the back of your head, tangled in your hair. And he was kissing you, lips pressed firmly against yours. It felt like stars were exploding behind your closed eyelids, head spinning. Your wound your arm around his neck and shoulders, pulling him closer. His kisses were slightly rough, his teeth grazing your bottom lip and leaving you slightly out of breath. You sank into the sensation, moving your lips with his.

You heard Jimin first, and then several of the other boys burst out yelling their heads off. You didn’t really care though, every part of your head was filled with Taehyung. You didn’t even really notice the sudden surprised screech from Hobi.

“NO CRUSH!? Y/N I KNEW YOU WERE LYING!” It was Lil’s yelling that made you pull away from Tae and look toward the cars. The boy’s faces were in varying states of shock and elation. Jimin just looked smug. Lil was standing in the back of the truck, feet a solid shoulder width apart and tarp thrown haphazardly to the ground. Chann was covering his eyes in embarrassment and Charcoal was barking completely oblivious to the chaos, tail beating up a storm.

“What the heck are you doing in my car!?” Jungkook yelled.

“Stowing away, what do you think?” Lil threw back at him

“Oh my gosh, does that make me a smuggler? I’m a criminal!” he gasped.

Joon rolled his eyes. “We already technically damaged government property and helped set a convict lose, I don’t think it matters at this point”

Jungkook paused “Ok, fair point. But how did I not realise you were in my car.”

“I did” Jimin chirped

It was Lil’s turn to be confused “Wait you did?”

“Yup, I was in the back seat and I could see Charcoal’s tail sticking out from underneath the tarp the entire time.” Jimin said matter of factly. Yoongi relaxedly strolled over, and began rubbing Charcoal's ears, gummy smile spread wide. Charcoal was very happy with the attention. Hobi was still clutching his chest in shock.

“Why the heck didn’t you kick us out then- you know what never mind” Lil took a breath “Anyway!” she spun back, pointing a finger at the two of you who were still wrapped in each other’s arms. “To get to the point. Mr.Kim Taehyung! You seem like a great guy, y/n certainly seems to think so, but I don’t know you that well yet. If you break y/n’s heart, I will break your neck. Understood?” Lil was panting from yelling and she was forced to pause to take a breath.

Jin took advantage of the pause. “Yah, have a little more faith will you. We got you out!”

“Thank you very much! But…!”

“Don’t worry” Taehyung said all of a sudden “I don’t plan on breaking any hearts… I’m trying to make sure they’re pieced back together. That being said, would the three of you like to come live with us. I think y/n would like it.”

“Nah” Jin cut in. “Leave the lovebirds alone. Lil, you’ll get along with Yoongles”

“Why would Yoongles want to take in some random girl, no offense to said girl” Yoongi crossed his arms.

“Because you’re both savage, we might as well keep the savagery contained. If we put Lil with Hobi she’d take over his house in a week.”

“Hey!”

“Well dear hyung can house Charcoal to keep the dopey-ness in one place.”

“Hey Chann, if you want somewhere quiet Joon’s’d be a good place”

“Yeah you’re welcome to stay”

“He might bore you though”

“Shouldn’t Charcoal at least be with either Lil or Chann or y/n?”

“I don’t think any of our houses could easily fit four new people”

“It would be fun though.”

“Sorry maknae, we’re not going to go by your judgement”

“We could build a new house”

“I don’t think any of us have that kind of money!”

As usual, things were chaotic. You found yourself smiling at Lil, whose head was whipping back and forth trying to keep track of the conversation. You’d given up making sense of what came out of their mouths a long while ago. But you were incredibly content. You looked around at the woods and your friends, no worries clouding anyone’s faces. Taehyung’s arms were around you and you felt safe and at ease. For the first time in your life you felt like you had found somewhere you could breathe.
