I am not a shipper.

But even I understand why New Moon's affection towards Solar would be a little stronger than it is with he other family and friends.

First of all, let's accept something: We all have stronger family or friendship ties with certain people than with others, that does not mean that we love some more than others to the point of having favorites, it just means that we can have more trust with some people than with others. And that's fine. Also, the fact of knowing one person longer than another does NOT mean that your affection is greater than what you can feel for someone you have known for less time.

Second, as much as Sun, Earth and the others offered their help to New Moon with the dilemmas and problems that life mercilessly threw at them, only Solar showed himself capable and up to the task of helping and providing real solutions with actions that made the enormous weight that New Moon felt on his shoulders about being the guardian of his family was less difficult for him to carry. Because okay, communication is important, letting off steam is important, affection is also important, Earth and Sun are good at those things, but without the solution to the problem that causes stress, you would never be able to get out of said problem, and it was Solar who else could help Moon find the solutions.

By losing Solar, New Moon lost his strongest support and aly in the odyssey of protecting his family.

I do not justify his actions or his madness in any way, even I consider that him becoming a villain while forgetting his initial motivations was abrupt and meaningless. I'm just saying that understand why he would be so desperate to get his best friend and support back, especially after the unfair way he was lost.
