hey so here is my rendition of shadow-emerald-gold’s original character Null, a very intriguing anti hero from her loki x reader fanfiction.

so well, this is how i imagined her from the get go scene where she was introduced, notably dressed in a shabby suit and tie (she was playing a bass guitar and due to this i can draw basic bass guitars now lol). also there was no mention of a tatto, but i kinda felt it would suit her, so here we are. she is an extremely complex villian turned avenger in the series, which i seriously hope shadow will continue :)

Okay, so this is it. I am finally putting my foot down and making a post about this.

This is an amazing website where you can post whatever you want, bond with people in your fandoms, and appreciate others work.

However, there is almost no saying what is going to be popular or not. In fact, the only way to guarantee that it will even be NOTICED is to associate it with a ship. That’s it.

After that, so many things will be ignored. Maybe you have a cool original character that you spent hours developing and drawing. Maybe you feel inspired to write a story that isn’t a fanfic, and spend days perfecting the plot. Maybe you wrote a poem that only took a couple of minutes, but it means everything to you.

Whatever you just made, maybe you want to post it online, but this is the only place you know to post it.

So you post it.

And wait.

And wait.

And wait.

After a month, your post has only gotten a couple of likes.

You feel discouraged, but you try again with another original piece.

The same thing happens.

After a couple of times, you give up, and you make a crack post about your favorite ship that only takes a minute.

It gets a thousand likes.

You keep doing this, making art and writing stories about your ship, until that one jolt of fame dies down. You keep doing things to get noticed, but it isn’t working, and then you’re back to square one. Eventually it’s too hard to post anything because you know that you’re just screaming into the void, and you just start rebloging things, because those are the only things that will be seen.

All I ask of anyone who bothered to read this far is to help. Like, instead of staying in the top posts section the whole time, switch over to the recent section. Instead of just staying in your fandom tag, look up “original art,” or “original story.” A single note or comment on an otherwise ignored post could make someone’s day. You aren’t paying each time you press the like button. It’s not that hard. Even if it doesn’t look as good as the artists who draw for a living, or authors who write for a living, a little encouragement goes a long way.

If the only message an artist gets from tumblr is, “You’re not good enough to be noticed,” then any dreams they may have are smushed. Poof. Gone.

Just… please. Help out the unknown artists, writers, poets, and more by leaving a nice note. You have no idea how much it helps.

I envy writers.

As an artist I can give you a snapshot into a world.

But a writer.

A writer can take you there.

They can weave together words and create a portal to anywhere. You can visit those places instead of looking out a window and wishing to be a part of it.

I envy writers.

Jane rolled her eyes as she looked over to her friend who was smiling at her phone, the light from it forming patterns of shadows on her face. Brinda felt the corners of her lips tug up as she read the contents of the message. “Let me guess,” Jane’s voice sounded almost mechanical. “Is it that blogger?” Brinda looked up quickly. “Who?” “Miss whats-her-name….what was it? Yes, supremehusbands?” A soft chuckle left brinda’s lips as jane rolled her eyes. Sitting in their usual seat at the coffee shop near their college, they were waiting for their next lecture. And as usual, brinda was busy with her phone. Jane was used to it- watching this girl with the weird messy hair and an even weirder fandom shirt laugh out loud over jokes or coo over grown men as if they were puppies, occasionally earning very suspicious looks from other people sitting in the shop- but things seemed to have changed the past month.
