just witnessed a girl spot her friend in the grocery store and instead of calling her over she started making turkey noises. and her friend, who apparently recognized her call, responded with higher pitched turkey noises before she even saw her and they used turkey echolocation to find each other. friendship between girls is a beautiful thing <3

I'm rewatching the Harry Potter movies, and I can't wrap my head around how stupid and illiterate you have to be to accuse J.K. Rowling of being a nazi.

One of the main antagonists, the Malfoys, have blonde hair and blue eyes and believe that "mudbloods" are people of dirty blood who are worth less than pure-blood wizards. Let me repeat—these are the bad guys. Did you have history classes in school? Doesn't that sound familiar?

I'm Rewatching The Harry Potter Movies, And I Can't Wrap My Head Around How Stupid And Illiterate You

But sure, the person who included such a clear anti-nazi message in her books must secretely be a nazi because *checks notes* she doesn't think that men can be women.

Makes total sense 🤡

This one conversation between my dad and a friend of his always sticks with me.

My dad was talking about this time when we were on vacation and really needed somewhere to pee, so we went into this random bar and asked if we could use their bathroom. I was 12 at the time and just remember everyone in there being really nice (especially since it was noon and hardly anyone was there).

But later I come to find out, it was a gay bar. My dad was retelling this story at dinner to his friend. It was a family thing; I was probably around 22 by that time. It really struck me then, the way my dad talked about it. He talked about how uncomfortable for him it felt to be there. It wasn’t like anyone was hitting on him or anything. But just being in an environment, surrounded by people he knew were attracted to him and could be sizing him up…he said that made him feel uncomfortable and objectified. He said the skimpy posters of men in speedos in the bathroom made him feel like that too.

It really pissed me off. I didn’t let it show, but I asked him this simple question: “Dad, did you ever consider that how you felt in that gay bar is how I feel every time I step into public, as a woman?” He had absolutely no response. He was completely taken aback by that consideration.

Because it’s true. I’ve been catcalled since age 14, probably earlier without knowing. I’ve lived my whole life knowing that a lot of men—who I am absolutely disgusted at being seen/touched by too, by the way—are constantly looking at me, constantly thinking sexual thoughts about me, and constantly undressing me with their eyes. Since I was a toddler, I have been bombarded with images of airbrushed models in bikinis advertising things as simple as toothpaste to me. And I considered it normal because of how frequently it happened to me and how it was expected of women to accept that kind of treatment.

I’m not saying my dad is a bad person. But men in general have no idea how it feels to be raised under conditions like that and the psychological damage it does to you. They fundamentally do not understand and probably never will. And yet they still think they have the right to speak over us whenever possible.

This is a negativity post for boys

- boys who “can’t” control their anger - boys who yell - boys who are selfish - boys who terrorize women - boys who watch porn - boys who take out their emotions on others - boys who don’t take responsibility for their actions - boys (any and all)

Fuck you. Fuck yourselves. I hate you.

9) you might eat your favourite meal tomorrow

the reason there are few/no male domestic violence shelters is because males haven’t made themselves any.

do you guys seriously think women’s shelters were just HANDED to women, and that we didn’t have to fight for decades for them amongst massive pushback? do you think there wasn’t huge controversy surrounding the first womens’ shelters? do you think there weren’t violent protesters? do you think founders weren’t harassed with rape and death threats? we had to work for ours, you can work for yours.

if you want domestic violence shelters for men/transwomen, MAKE YOUR OWN. i’ll support you in that. most feminists will support you in that. but don’t make us do the work for you. we did all our own work ourselves, so can you. don’t rely on women to solve your problems.

As a black girl, it’s just impossible for me to ignore the similarities between black face and drag as phenomenons that were/are incredibly normalized in popular culture. Both are offensive exaggerations of an oppressed class to the point of caricaturization by the oppressor class for entertainment and perpetuate harmful stereotypes. The defence line drag apologists always use is that drag is an exploration of gender expression especially for gender non conforming males who were never able to express their femininity and that’s why it’s different from black face in that sense which is just blatant racism. What they don’t know is that white performers often used the excuse of exploring their “inner negro” when in blackface and it was actually a very popular response to blackface criticism lol. And even then..why should women be mocked and made sexual objects in order for men to be able to “express themselves” it’s really just grade A sexism so many drag performers have expressed not thinking that women should participate. There is no other explanation for why drag queens are overwhelmingly much more popular than drag kings and that’s the fact that embodiments of men aren’t seen as jokes. Recently read this really fascinating paper that talks about how similar the two are I strongly recommend it

Are women allowed to have any standards when it comes to dating men?

If a woman wants a man who is conventionally attractive, tall or athletic, she is shallow.

If a woman wants a man who earns good money or at least has some financial stability/gainful employment, a career or good career prospects, she is a gold-digger.

If a woman wants a man who is educated, cultivated or takes an active interest in the world around him one way or another, she is a snob.

If a woman wants a man who is not a complete porn-addict with a severe case of terminal misogyny, she is a stuck-up bitch.

If a woman wants a man who is kind, considerate and actually cares about her, she pussy-whips her boyfriend or husband.

If a women wants a man who shares values, interests or life-style choices that are important to her, she is mean and exclusionary, because why wouldn't she give men a chance she is clearly not compatible with?

Seriously, what are women allowed to look for in a male partner? Oh, wait, I know! She is supposed to want a man who is funny and makes her laugh. That is a demand no man feels threatened by, because they all think they are comedy gold.

I can't put into words how terrifying this new MRA rhetoric is that "rape is not really that bad" "it only lasts for a few minutes" which they will then use to justify less punishment for rapists, less help for women, as if rapists even get any punishment currently! And women who are raped are already told to move on or are ignored, or even accused I being an antagonist. They are always coming up with a new thing to silence us and they won't stop no matter how many women will say how traumatising it was for them they will just selectively pick the information that suits their agenda.

And their agenda is to rape women.

There is no point trying to explain to them how horrible it was for you because they are well aware. This is weaponised ignorance when men pretend they dont understand that their actions hurt women to get away with it. The only thing we can do is highlight that this is clearly a tactic in their war on women.

I Can't Put Into Words How Terrifying This New MRA Rhetoric Is That "rape Is Not Really That Bad" "it

The fact that men are credited with advancing civilization, rather than condemned for critically stunting its advancement after they forbade half of humanity from contributing, is an excellent example of an androcentric analysis.

Another point for why it’s important to own your own copies of music and media, and not use streaming services, is because the copy you own can’t be taken back.

(This is also a good time to remind people that yout*be to mp3 converters still exist).

I’m not interested in a world where men really want to watch porn but resist because they’ve been shamed; I’m interested in a world where men are raised from birth with such an unshakable understanding of women as living human beings that they are incapable of being aroused by their exploitation.

How is it so widely ignored that serial killers are disproportionally often men who mainly or only target women and usually sexually abuse the women before murdering them? Why isn’t it specified as serial femicides or hate crimes? This is so often overlooked and rarely specified in reports and it goes to show once again that misogyny is barely recognised at all. It’s not always just crazy, evil people with blood lust who commit crimes against people. It’s men who hate women.
