Holy Heck, Venom Let There Be Carnage Is So Good!

Holy heck, Venom Let there be Carnage is so good!

I love the "I'm out of the Eddie Closet" scene in the bar, along with the deal with the tyre swing chew toy!

The fact that Tom Hardy wrote his own (practically) fanfic of what he imagined happening for the next film and they just went with it is so fun to me ☺️

This has got to be one of my favourite theories!

[Long, spoilerific theory post]

So, playing through Stardew Valley again I have a weird theory about Sebastian’s ~origins~ that I’d like to entertain for a second.

He’s part void spirit.

I know, but seriously hear me out:

-He’s the only character besides Krobus that likes void eggs

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

Krobus is, for those unfamiliar, a shadow person aka void spirit. A race of magical beings native to the valley that all but perished in the war against the dwarves years ago. Liking void material isn’t the only similarities these two have, either.

-Krobus can’t go out in the sun. He also likes the solitude and moisture of the sewers. Sebastian loves the rain and often goes out in it, admitting that the cool damp is his favorite weather. Seb also has social anxiety which keeps him in seclusion more often than not. As someone with GAD in real life I know this isn’t an otherworldly trait, but his fear of people is another parallel to Krobus that’s worth noting.

-Sebastian is often associated with other magical things as well— he loves frogs and has a kinship with them (often depicted as “bad luck” / “curses” / witch’s familiars), and Frozen Tears (which supposedly come from Yetis).

But if all that isn’t enough to convince you something funky is happening here, let’s look at character dialogue. Digest the following quotes~

Robin:

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

Robin built her own house, which means she could have picked from many available locations in the valley, but she chose right in front of the mine entrance, on a mountain that she clearly has reserves about. This is exasperated by Sebastian telling you that Robin ~hates~ stone. Why would she choose this place specifically? There’s quite a bit of forest area that would have been more beneficial to own as part of her carpentry business, it makes no sense unless she had some type of connection with the mountain / mines.

And there is where it gets good. See, Robin does have a connection with the mines:

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

She ventures into the depths to look for exotic wood. Surely the allure of fantastical building materials is tempting for her, perhaps it’s even what drew her to the valley in the first place. Presumably, she moved to Pelican Town when she was single and Seb was small — too small to leave at home while she wonders through the dark searching for supplies in the local caves. She most likely took him with her and maybe even met Demetrius during her time exploring. He has a canonical interest in the local anomalies, including things found in the mine as evidenced in his field research bundle for the community center which includes materials only obtainable there.

We know that a traumatic event involving the wizard happened some years ago, per the wiki here:

And that the witch is specifically interested in transformation magic involving children as she can curse the player’s children to be doves for eternity.

I submit to you, based on alllll the above, that Robin took Sebastian into the mines with her when he was a child and he got hurt. Not just a scrape, but properly wounded by a monster. The town doctor, Harvey, could do little for him and the thought haunts him to this day, as seen in his line here:

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

Sebastian died, and was to be buried in this grave:

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

But, faced with an opportunity to further his research, the wizard offered to preform a ritual on the child’s body, filling it with void essence and bringing him back to life. ~Necromancy in the Wizard’s Tower~. Sound familiar?

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

It’s the plot of Sebastian’s campaign in the Solarian Chronicles 🥲

Some other random stuff that may support this theory:

[Long, Spoilerific Theory Post]

This quote from Demetrius shows he’s interested in the next step for humans as the main goal of his career. Perhaps the reason he’s so cold to Seb is because the thinks of him as a specimen, not really a person. Robin hates this and gets him the book on parenting. Sebastian’s favorite food is pumpkin soup, which his mother makes for him. Pumpkins are usually used to create Jack-o-lanterns which are said to ward off evil, perhaps this is a superstitious way Robin chooses to try and protect her son.

Abigail is popularly known to be the wizard’s daughter. If she knows this (she hangs out by his tower quite often), he may have her keeping an eye on him, which is how they became friends.

I like to think Venom got fucking wasted off virgin piña colada while on vacation.

Venom: Waiter another one!

Eddie: V this is 10th glass, You smell like coconuts, AND you are burning through our escape money?

Venom: more or we eat your bones!

Eddie:…*picks up phone* Hi room service- yes another one…thank you, I’ll be sure tell them.

So babies,

amazing things in Czech subbed version of Venom 2. Instead of "I'm out of the Eddie closet." the Czech subbed version says "I don't have to sleep with just Eddie anymore."

You're welcomed!

So very gay, so very good.

Loved every second of it!
