Shoko Asahara {  麻原 彰晃 }  in a 1991 interview speaking about religious growth and why people are attracted to his cult, Aum Shinrikyo { オウム真理教 }. Aum Shinrikyo is infamous for two sarin gas attacks perpetrated by its members in Tokyo in 1994 and 1995. These attacks took the lives of twenty people and injured thousands more. It was considered an act of terrorism by the Japanese government and Ashara is currently awaiting execution in prison for his role in the attacks.

Serial Killer Israel Keyes robbing the National Bank of Texas in Azle, Texas, on February 16th, 2012. Keyes had just committed the murder of Samantha Koenig on February 1st, after which he went on a cruise with his daughter until the 11th. He clearly wasted no time when getting back to criminal activities. 

February 2, 2012 to February 18, 2012: Keyes flew to New Orleans, where he went on a cruise until February 11. After the cruise, he drove from New Orleans to Texas. Although he denied it, investigators believe Keyes may be responsible for a homicide in Texas or a surrounding state during this time. In the morning hours of February 16, 2012, Keyes set a home on fire in Aledo, Texas. Following the arson, he robbed National Bank of Texas in Azle, Texas.

“Typical of some young boys, unbeknownst to Maurice and myself, Martin was in possession of a skyrocket in the attic where he slept. Martin decided to experiment. He lit the rocket. But once it was alight, he panicked, and tried to extinguish it by pushing it into his clothes, which burnt a hole in his jeans. It was a relief to me it was strong material. If he had his pajamas on, the burn could have been more serious.” -  Carleen Bryant, Martin’s mother. 

A bright eyed, blonde haired twelve year old Martin Bryant being interviewed by a local news station after he was hospitalised from a firecracker accident. Bryant was described as being intellectually handicapped and was found to be mentally three years below his chronological age. He had behavioral problems and fought, spat and urinated on other children. He otherwise enjoyed school and liked his teachers but was ostracized by other children and found school work, especially spelling and mathematics, incredibly difficult. 

He would go on to be Australia’s worst mass murderer, killing thirty five and injuring another twenty four in the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996.
