I know I donโt owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. Theyโre always passing urges, but itโs disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brainโs spent so long thinking only about suicide that itโs forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But Iโm trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.
I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.

now, his wife and children have been enduring genocide for 11 months without him. he is forced to worry every day for the safety and of his family who he hasn't seen in years from thousands of miles away. in addition, his wife has been suffering due a lack of medical infrastructure due to her need for treatment for her kidney. mahmoud is haunted by the possibility of her succumbing to her illness and leaving his children orphaned and displaced.

Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.
Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. Yet, amidst the darkness, we hold onto hope, seeking solace in the belief that one day, the clouds of war will dissipate, and we will find the peace and stability we so desperately crave. Until then, we endure, clinging to the threads of our resilience, and nurturing dreams of a safer, healthier future for us all.
Our home, once a sanctuary of love and warmth, was destroyed, displacing us into a life of uncertainty and fear. The laughter of my children and my sister's daughters, once the music of our home, is now silenced by the echoes of conflict. Our Story: A Family's Journey Through War
My name is Mounir, and I am part of a family of seven. We used to live a simple life in Gaza, before the war changed everything.
My father, Raed (47), my mother, Amani (39), my older sisters, Rasha (22), who is married, and Rana (21), who is also married, my brother Mohamed (16), and my little sister Sham (4), we all dreamed of a safe and stable life.
When the war began, we were forced to leave our home due to heavy shelling nearby.
We took shelter in the shop that was our only source of incomeโ a sanitary supplies shop where my father, brother, and I worked.
We could only stay one night before leaflets were dropped from airplanes ordering a full evacuation of the area. We had no choice but to move to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, where we lived in a tent for a week.
Then, another evacuation order came, and we were told to head south of Gaza.
With no relatives to take us in, we ended up in an unfinished school building in the central area.
The 90 days we spent there were the hardest of our livesโ no water, no food, and nothing fit for human life. We had to walk more than 1.5 kilometers just to buy a small amount of food to keep us alive.
After this long ordeal, another evacuation order came, but before we could leave, the school was bombed.
It was terrifyingโ we narrowly escaped death, leaving everything behind.
We fled to Rafah, a place that seemed safer at first, but there too, we found no shelter.
We had to live in a tent, in the freezing winter cold.
We had no way to keep warm, and we nearly froze to death.
My mother, who suffers from chronic asthma, was in a dire situation because we couldnโt find her medications.
She ran out of the medicine that helps her breathe, and she started having painful attacks.
This is one of the many types of medicine that you use, but there is none of it because it has run out
The smoke from the fire we used for cooking and the terrible smell from the lack of sanitation in the school made her condition worse.
My little sister Sham is also suffering from skin rashes due to the unsanitary conditions, and she has diarrhea and vomiting because the drinking water is contaminated.
We are living in inhumane conditions, and we donโt even have the clothes we need to survive the coming winter.๐ฅถ(๐งฅโ)
My brother Mohamed and I carry a heavy burdenโ we fetch water from faraway places, and we search for food to ease our hunger.
My married sisters and their small children are also in desperate need of baby formula, clothes, and diapers.
Even the food that reaches us in the school from charity kitchens is barely edible due to poor cooking.๐คข

Can't believe I'm saying this but the weather is slowly changing in Gaza again and it rained quite heavily this week. Knowing this while literally 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced, many living in makeshift tents, is a terrifying thought. Since last week's rain, many people are left without a place to stay and their belongings destroyed by the rain.

We have beenย displaced 17 times, each time escaping death by a miracle. We walked long distances on foot with our children who struggled to keep up, driven by fear to escape danger.
After years of effort and construction for our house, then one day and one night everything vanished
My children's mental health has been shattered.ย They have suffered immensely from fear, displacement, and homelessness, with barely enough food and water to feed a small cat. They have enduredย carrying water over long distancesย throughout the day, surrounded by destruction, rockets, and shrapnel. They were deprived of continuing their education, despite being top students.
One of those times when we had to sleep in our previously destroyed house, a missile landed on us and, by Godโs grace, it did not explode.
My children have been deprived of the foodย they love and need for their bodies and minds to grow, enduring constant fear and terror day and night for 10 months without any peace or rest. We also contracted many diseases, includingย hepatitis and skin infectionsย due to the lack of water and hygiene supplies in overcrowded shelters and sometimes in our destroyed home :( . We were also forced to stay completely still for periods ranging fromย 3 to 7 days due to the ongoing siege, drinkingย contaminated waterย out of fear of the tanks around us.
Our car was not spared from the bombing either
The children's rooms were completely burned...
Some members of my family wereย martyred, and others wereย injured.ย Fear, crying, and sadness fill the place.
We once had all the comforts and basic tools for a decent life, but now we have lost everything. We cook our food over open fires despite the exhaustion and heat, and weย barely manage to get flour, water, and firewood. Yet we remain resilient in northern Gaza despite the bombing, hunger, and severe shortages of water, medicine, and necessary supplies.
And now, that's all we have
I was even forced to wean my year-and-a-half-old daughter due to the lack of milk :( .
We are displaced and homeless, continuously moving from one place to another until this dreadful war ends.

My Little Brother is Dying of Fear ๐จ
My little brother, seven years old, is dying of fear. His eyes never stop crying ๐ข. Every morning, with a voice choked by tears, he asks me: "When will we go back to our home?" But I have no answer. Every look in his eyes ๐๏ธ, every tear that falls from them ๐ง, crushes my heart ๐. How can I explain to him that the hope which once was our lifeline has now turned into nothing but a mirage?
The Night Only Adds to Our Pain ๐
The night doesnโt bring us rest, it only adds to our pain. We sleep on hard ground, feeling the in every bone of our bodies ๐ฅถ, with nothing but pieces of cardboard ๐ฆ to cover us. My older sister cries in silence ๐ฅบ as she watches the future fade before her eyes. My sick mother, in desperate need of medical care ๐ฉบ๐, suffers in complete silence. My father, who was once the pillar of our family ๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ, is now confined by his own weakness, unable to move or work.
We Are Nearing the End โฐ๏ธ
Every day we live brings us one step closer to the end. Death surrounds us from every side: if not from hunger ๐ฝ๏ธ, then from illness ๐ฆ . And if not from illness, then from the despair that devours our souls.
Where is Humanity? Where is the World? ๐๐
Where are the people of compassion? Are you waiting for us to vanish into the depths of this suffering? Are you waiting until death takes us before you act? We are drowning, and we donโt have enough strength to scream for help ๐. Will you let this cry go unanswered? ๐ญ
