-----------------

“(y/n), my love,” Taeyong’s voice called out for you. The two of you stood out on a beach, Taeyong was holding out his hand for you. You tried to take his hand, but every time you went to drop your hand in his, it fell right through. Any place you tried, you couldn’t touch him, feel him. You could see and hear him, but you couldn’t hold him. All you wanted to do was to hold him.

When you opened your eyes and felt at his empty side of the bed, you knew it wasn't a nightmare. That it was reality. Taeyong had stopped by a convenience store, he was getting snacks for you and the boys before coming home. A low ranking member of the yakuza got lucky, he walked into the convenience store at the same time. He put a bullet through Taeyong’s head. They say that it was only a matter of seconds, until his heart stopped. He had died before he even hit the floor.

There was a knock at the bedroom door, you couldn’t turn over to see who it was.

“(y/n),” it was Jisung, “breakfast is ready, come down and eat with us please.”

You ignored the poor boy not having the energy to answer or even look at him. You closed your eyes again, not wanting to do anything right now.

-

“(y/n), my love,” Taeyong stood there again, on that same beach with the sun shining behind him. He held out his hand again for you. You tried to grab his hand, to pull him close to you, but you couldn’t grasp his fingers.

“I can’t… I can’t hold you,” you cried out, so desperately to feel for him, to hold him.

“Then just talk to me, my love,” Taeyong smiled softly, not at all worried that you couldn’t hold him close.

“I miss you,” you felt the tears begin to fall once again, “you’re not there when I wake up.”

“But you have to,”

“What?”

“You have to wake up,”

There was another knock at the door, it stirred you awake but you didn’t dare move to look who was there. “It’s dinner (y/n),” that was Donghyuck, you heard him place a tray down, it must have the dinner on it. You just laid still, not turning to see him. You closed your eyes again, trying to go back to Taeyong.

-

“(y/n), my love,” Taeyong spoke to you gently. Where you guys were, was different, he was sitting at the dining room table, in his seat at the end. It was just you and him at the table. You could hear the faint sound of the boys and Dasom, they were laughing. “Let’s go see what the boys are doing,” Taeyong suggested.

“No,” Taeyong was already standing about to leave, “no, let’s just sit for a moment… Please.”

“Sure dear,” Taeyong sat back down in his seat, he looked worried and anxious, “but we should go see what they’re up to soon.”

“We will, I just want to be with you right now.” He looked so real, but even now when you tried to grab his hand you couldn’t.

“What’s wrong, my love?” Taeyong questioned, so genuinely. “Tell me what’s wrong and I will fix it.”

“I don’t think you can fix this,”

“But we should talk about it right?”

-

The next day when you woke up again, Jaemin had come up to inform you that breakfast was ready. You still laid still in the bed, not turning over to address, or even acknowledge Jaemin. He didn’t linger too long. You closed your eyes again, Taeyong was there every time.

-

“(y/n), my love,” Taeyong gently called out for you. This time the two of you were sitting in the backseat of a moving car. You looked at the driver's seat, and it looked like Jisung was driving, but you could only see the back of his head. “I’ll be home late tonight my love,” Taeyong looked up his phone, glancing towards you, “don’t wait up for me, okay?”

“No,” you spoke rather quickly.

“No?” Taeyong questioned, placing his phone down, looking at you. You began to feel the car start speeding up.

“No, you can’t keep working late Taeyong, you’re gonna hurt this family.”

“What are you talking about (y/n)?” Taeyong gave you a confused look, “are you feeling alright dear?”

“You’re gonna hurt this family Taeyong, you’re gonna work late,”

“You must not be feeling well, my love,” Taeyong dismissed your concerns, as the car kept speeding up. Going faster and faster.

“and you’re gonna never come home. Jisung, slow down, please,” you tried to speak to the driver, but he ignored you, continuing to go faster. Taeyong seemed so unbothered by the car’s rapidly climbing speed.

“(y/n), you need to calm down.”

“No, Taeyong, you're gonna hurt this family. Dasom is gonna be hurt,” you were speaking frantically at this point, trying to string your words together as fast as your mind.

“(y/n), it’s just working late one night,” Taeyong was being passive, while continuing to look at you with much concern.

“No, it’s not. You’re hurting this family. You’re gonna die Taeyong,” The car’s speed continued to climb, Taeyong seemed so unbothered. You felt your heart pounding against your chest, as your palms began to cry.

“(y/n), it already happened,”

You shot up in your bed, sweat rolling down your temples, your hands shaking, and the overwhelming feel to throw up. You just sat there as the tears rolled down your cheeks. Jeno opened the door, he saw you sitting there.

“Dinner is ready downstairs,” Jeno spoke rather softly. You didn’t move, didn’t even wipe the tears away. “Johnny is gonna be staying here for a little while.” Jeno didn’t push further on, he quietly walked out, closing the door behind him. You broke down into a horrid sob, wanting the bed to swallow you whole.

-

The following day, Chenle informed you breakfast was ready. You were gonna say something, just an acknowledgement that you heard him. But by the time you processed to say something, Chenle had already left you. It had only been three days since you left the bed. After Johnny informed you of Taeyong’s death, you couldn’t remember much. You think you fell to the floor. You think it was Johnny that helped you to the bed. You couldn’t remember that night. You closed your eyes again, sleeping was the only thing that comforted you.

-

“(y/n), my love,” Taeyong greeted you once again. The two of you were in the old house. He was sitting at the kitchen island, while you washed some of the dishes. This was a common occurrence before, Taeyong would be coming home just as you finished up your chores. He would sit, converse with you just for a moment. The two of you had many of these little moments.

“You’re dead,” your tone wasn’t harsh or rude. It was just a fact that you were stating.

“Yes I am dear,” Taeyong didn’t sugar coat it for you either.

“Why did you stop? Why not just come straight home?”

“I wanted to get you something, something to apologize for being late.”

“I said before, it was okay if you have to work late,” you were scrubbing the dish clean, over and over again. Your focus is solely on Taeyong.

“I know, but I know you don’t like it either,”

“Can you see us from where you’re at?”

“I can, I’m staring at the bottom of yours and Dasom’s feet,” Taeyong jokes. You splashed the water on him, as he just laughed on. “But yes, I can see you guys.”

“I don’t know what to do Taeyong,” you stopped scrubbing the dish, tears in your eyes. You knew you were gonna wake up alone. “I don’t know if I can do this without you. You took care of everything for me.”

“My love,” Taeyong now stood from his seat, shutting off the water, “Just take it one day at a time.” He came up to you, placing both his hands on your waist. You could feel him, you felt his touch on you. You placed your hands on his cheeks, you could hold him this time. “The boys will help you, but you have to try my love. You have to leave this bed and try.”

“What if I mess it up? What about your daughter?”

“Our daughter dear,” Taeyong smiled, cupping your cheek gently as you leaned into his touch. His touch felt all too realistic, “she is our daughter, you are her mom now.”

“Taeyong,”

“You can do this. (y/n), my love, you are a brave woman, and you will do this.”

“What about you? Are you gonna be okay?”

“I will wait for you on this side, my love, and until you join me again, I have an old friend to talk to.” Taeyong looked behind him, and there stood another woman. You had never seen her before, but you knew exactly who she was.

“Taeyong,” you looked back to your husband, “I don’t want you to leave yet,”

“Okay,” Taeyong wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close against him, “Just for a moment I will stay here with you.” You could hear the rhythm of his heart beating, you could still faintly smell his cologne, you could feel his hands pressed into your back. He was right here, holding you.

-

When you opened your eyes again, it was night, Johnny came up to the room. “(y/n), dinner is ready downstairs if you want to eat. I put out a ceasefire with neighboring organizations, as well as the yakuza, the ceasefire will only last four more days. I have already started on the arrangements for Taeyong’s funeral.” Johnny paused a little, you heard him intake a breath, “and Taeil will come for Dasom in the morning.”

You sat up abruptly, and whipped your head around to stare at Johnny. “Why will Taeil be getting Dasom?”

“Taeil and his wife have agreed to watch Dasom to give you time,”

“No,” you got out of the bed.

“(y/n), I don’t think…”

“Johnny, I said no, she is my daughter and no one will take my daughter away from me,” you walked past Johnny and out the room, going to Dasom’s room to find her.

There you saw Dasom playing with her dolls quietly. Her face had a sad look to it, she knew.

Dasom looked up at you, and you could see the tears forming. You opened your arms for her, and she just fell against you crying softly into your shoulder.

“Shhhh baby, shhhh”

“Daddy’s not coming home, is he?” she pulled away, rubbing the tears away with her fist.

“No baby, he’s not coming home.”

Dasom fell back down against you, crying harder this time now that her suspicion was confirmed. You sat on the floor holding the crying girl. You leaned your head back trying not to cry as well. Taeyong isn’t coming back home, that was the reality of the situation. Taeyong is dead.

-

Johnny made all the arrangements for the funeral. There wasn’t much that needed to be done by you at the very least. Many of the neighboring organizations sent flowers as a display, a symbol to show that they will not cause trouble in this time of grief for NCT. Johnny explained that because of Taeyong’s stature in this world, that the other organizations give time to allow us to regroup, to grieve, to mourn.

You thought it was very civil for them to do so, considering that in this time they could move into several markets that NCT dominated in. After the funeral, you began to come downstairs in the morning for breakfast. You didn’t speak much to any of the boys or Dasom, you often preferred to listen to them, but it did help a great deal. Dinner time was a little more difficult, you often found yourself staring at Taeyong’s empty seat. Nevertheless, you knew it was better to sit at the table, pushing your food around on your plate, instead of hiding away in your bedroom.

One particular night, you left the dinner table a little early, dismissing it off as you just being tired. Jisung caught you by the stairs, before you made your way up.

“(y/n),” Jisung didn’t meet your gaze. The boy towered over you, but he would bend over backwards at your command, “you should take over the organization.” Jisung stared into your eyes. His statement caught you completely off guard, you hadn’t even given a single thought to what was to happen to the organization. Before you could even say anything to Jisung, he walked away from you leaving you standing there in silence.

The organization was something that Taeyong built from the ground up, on his own, to help his father. You knew that this organization meant everything to Taeyong, these boys were family to him. You didn’t even think it right for you to take it over. Johnny was, is, the second in command, if anything he would take over the organization. However, the thought still gnawed at you.

Taking over the organization would be a full time job, there was no telling if you would have the cover of the corporation that Taeyong had. If you did this, all the boys would need to be on board, Taeyong was as much family to them, as they were to him. All of the boys would have to be in agreement for you to even feel the slightest bit comfortable with taking over.

You went to bed that night wondering just what it would be like. Marrying someone in this life was one thing, but being someone in this life was another.

-

The next morning, you sat at breakfast still pondering the idea. For some reason you couldn’t put away the idea. Running the organization, you weren’t born into this life. You knew nothing about it. There wasn’t any way you could do it. Why on Earth would Jisung suggest such an outrageous idea? Why were you even still thinking about the matter?

“(y/n).” Johnny called for your attention, you hummed in acknowledgement. “Taeil is calling a meeting with you.”

“What for?”

Johnny took a deep breath, it was clear that he was uncomfortable with whatever he was gonna say. “It’s about Taeyong’s will.”

You felt time stop. You knew that Taeyong made adjustments right after the wedding, but you didn’t ever think that it was something you needed to worry about. You wanted to curse Taeyong for dying so soon, to leave you worried about this. To leave you to deal with this alone. “I see,” you looked down at your food, not wanting to talk about his will, “well Taeil is gonna have to wait, until I’m free. You boys best be getting off to work now.”

You left the table, unsure about what exactly to do to keep yourself busy, but you were gonna find something, anything.

-

You did a pretty fine job of avoiding a meeting with Taeil about the will. Anytime Johnny brought the idea to you, you would effectively change the subject. Opting to speak about Dasom or the boys. You would even ask questions about the organization, deciding that it was better to speak about that instead.

Johnny knew you were avoiding the meeting with Taeil. He just couldn’t determine exactly why you were so adamant about avoiding it. Taeyong created and adjusted his will accordingly, there was really nothing that you had to worry about. Taeyong had a trust for Dasom, that she could live life comfortably without ever really working again. Granted she wouldn’t be able to spend frivolously, but she was definitely taken care of. There was even money in an account for you, all of your bills had already been taken cared of. Even the housing situation was taken care of.

Johnny couldn’t understand just why you are going to such lengths to avoid meeting with Taeil.

-

Johnny was gonna get to the bottom of this at once. “(y/n),” the two of you were in the yard, watching the boys play, monkey in the middle with Dasom. The little girl giggled loudly, it warmed everyone’s heart that she could be so happy. She was so innocent.

“What is it Johnny?”

“His will, (y/n),”

You sighed, he wouldn’t let it go already, “Johnny I’m watching my daughter right now, must you ruin this for me,” you looked at Johnny pointedly.

“You need to meet with Taeil, I don’t understand why you are avoiding it so much. Taeyong took care of everything (y/n)...”

“Johnny,” you cut him off not wanting to hear it anymore, “If you can’t respect my wishes, then get out. I don’t want to see you anymore…”

“No,” Johnny spoke clearly, his face showing that he was angry, “you can’t keep avoiding this (y/n). Taeyong is dead.”

“I know he’s fucking dead,” you broke, all of the boys and Dasom’s attention turned to you. You waved them off, “I know he’s dead Johnny, but I just… I can’t right now.”

“(y/n),”

“Johnny, he was so prepared for his death, but,” you took a breath trying to control your emotions, “I wasn’t. And there are too many things that I’m feeling right now.” You watch Dasom giggle, trying to get the ball, “I miss him, I mourn for him, I’m angry with him. To me, this might not make sense to you, it barely makes sense to me, but when I meet with Taeil, it means I’ve accepted that he’s gone. And as stupid as this sounds, not knowing what’s written in that will. It preserves just a little piece of him, like he’s just still at work. Like I’m still just waiting for him to come home.”

Johnny leaned back in his seat, watching the boys playing with Dasom. “I’m angry with him too. We agreed to do everything together. When I joined him with this corporation, this organization, this family, we agreed to do everything together. We were young, stupid, reckless, greedy. We wanted to rule this world, and we would do it together, alive or dead, but together,” Johnny took a deep breath, “of course he had to go and die before me, but he’s not gone.” You looked at Johnny, not sure what he meant, “he's in that little girl,” he pointed at Dasom, “he’s never really leaving us. (y/n),” Johnny looked at you now, “I know this is difficult, I miss him too, I mourn for him too, and I am damn angry with him too. But he’s not gone.”

You wiped away the fallen tears, “damn you Johnny,” you leaned your head back, stopping yourself from crying some more. “Call Taeil, I’ll meet with him tomorrow.”

“Thank you,” Johnny took your hand, pressing his lips to the back of it.

“Yeah yeah, now will you let me watch my daughter in peace?”

“Yes madam,” Johnny smiled, walking away with his phone in his hand.

-

Johnny set up a lunch meeting with Taeil at the mansion, that way you didn’t have to go anywhere. The house chef had prepared a light lunch, not too much heavy food. Mark and Johnny both stayed back, something about working from home today. Not that you really minded, them being there offered some type of comfort.

The doorbell rang grabbing everyone’s attention, “I’ll get it,” Johnny said as he made his way to the front door. You figured that it would be Taeil already.

Johnny took a bit longer than you had expected to return. When he did, it wasn’t who you suspected at all. “(y/n),” Johnny spoke, “this is Mr. and Mrs. Lee, Taeyong’s parents.”

You looked at the man and woman standing next to Johnny. You raked your mind trying to remember them at any moment, and you just couldn’t. You went through all the people you met at the funeral and neither of them were there, you were sure. You wondered just exactly what type of parents would miss their own son’s funeral.

“Johnny, who is this woman, and where is my granddaughter?” the man, whom you could only assume is Taeyong’s father based on Johnny’s introduction, asked.

“Sir, Taeyong got married shortly before he passed, this is (y/n), his wife. Dasom is with the nanny upstairs.”

“My son’s wife died, Johnny,” the man looked angrily at Johnny, completely dismissing you, “get this woman out of my house.”

“No sir,” Johnny said.

The Nanny

Chapter 4

The Nanny

Lee Taeyong x fem reader

Masterlist

preview, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, epilogue

Genre: mafia au! dad taeyong au!

Warnings: violence, explicit language, mature themes, suicide, depression, murder

Word Count: 3K

Author’s note: I feel like the pace of this story is fairly fast and idk how you guys are gonna feel about it. I’m hoping that if I just increase the amount of details and maybe add a couple scenes then it’s gonna be okay, but if I do that then chapter might become longer, so we’ll have to see. A warning tho, next chapter is gonna be spicy for sure. Nevertheless hugs and kisses to anyone reading <3

————————————-

You spent the entire weekend with dream and Taeyong and of course little Dasom. It was the most perfect weekend for you. Dream was amazing, they were loud, weird, energetic, happy. They were just the most perfect bunch of kids to be surrounded by. Although you were also like their mother too, constantly telling them to pick up stuff, or scolding them for their crumbs or having to wake them up from their naps. Nevertheless you wouldn’t trade them to go back to how it was before no matter what flaws they had.

Spending the weekend with Taeyong too was different, a good difference. It was clear that there was an obvious shift in your relationship, that things were different now, the air around the two of you was different from before. Even now, Monday morning as you, Taeyong, Dasom and dream sat at the table eating breakfast.

“My last meeting is at 4, so I should definitely be home before dinner,” Taeyong said, looking at you as you sipped your coffee.

“Okay, that will be nice. Are you boys gonna be home for dinner?” You turned now looking at the boys, Taeyong smiled hearing you call this place home.

“I will not, I actually have to fly out to Canada this afternoon, I’ll be back home the day after tomorrow,” Mark responded.

“I will be with Mark in Canada,” Donghyuck added.

“I have practice tonight, sorry” Jeno stated.

“It’s my turn to watch the infirmary, sorry (y/n)” Renjun apologized.

“I actually have a late meeting tonight, I’m sorry (y/n),” Jaemin said.

“I have dinner with my parents tonight,” Chenle reasoned. Six out of the seven boys said they wouldn’t make it home for dinner and it hurt a little knowing they wouldn't be here.

“I’ll be home,” Jisung perked up and so did you as you heard him say he was gonna make it to dinner.

“Okay,” you said with a smile, one of them was better than none.

“We actually need to go already,” Taeyong said, glancing at his watch, standing from the table. You walked them all to the front door, carrying Dasom to say bye to her dad. “Hey, Dasom has a doctor’s appointment at 11, Johnny will be here to take you guys, okay?” Taeyong said with one foot out the door, you just smiled and nodded. “Okay i’ll see you tonight.” he finished off kissing you on the cheek, “bye princess.” Just like that Taeyong was out the door. You stood there and couldn’t even wipe the smile off your face. The title of Mrs. Lee is not sounding so bad right now.

-

Here you sat in the doctor’s office waiting room, Dasom was sitting by your feet on the floor playing with some of the toys they had set out. Johnny sat next to you scrolling through his phone just like before.

“Johnny, may I ask you a question?” you turned to look at the man sitting next to you.

He hummed in response.

“Who’s Seulgi?” you asked as you recalled hearing the name being whispered a few times. Johnny immediately stopped what he was doing, looking straight ahead just like he had seen a ghost.

“Where did you hear about that name?” Johnny now looked at you, it almost looked as if he was upset.

“I heard the boys whispering about it over the weekend, they were telling Taeyong that I was like her. I’m sorry I didn’t mean….” You looked at Johnny concerned, as his gaze softened a bit.

“She’s… was Dasom’s mother,” Johnny said now looking at the little girl sitting by your feet, “she passed away a while ago.”

“Oh…” you now looked down at the little girl, you never wondered about her mother before, always concluding that it was none of your business, but things were different now. “Can you tell me how… how did she die?”

“She was sick,” Johnny started off. You didn’t want to interrupt him, so you sat silently and watched as he spoke. “It began shortly after Dasom was born. Seulgi and Taeyong had been together since high school, they had plans to get married and have this big wedding and this family. And they were gonna do it after Taeyong was settled in his career, but then Seulgi got pregnant all of a sudden. Taeyong was just named CEO of the corporation, the organization was just getting off the ground. There was a lot going on. Seulgi didn’t want to get married while being pregnant and quite frankly Taeyong didn’t even have the time for a wedding. So they both agreed to just postpone the wedding until after Dasom was born.” Johnny now looked at you, but there wasn’t any indication that you wanted him to stop.

Johnny continued on, “They decided not to get married until after Dasom was born. And when Dasom was born, it’s like the stars aligned, Taeyong was more happy than he had ever been. Seulgi was a great mom, she loved Dasom. And life was good…” Johnny hung his head now, no longer looking at you, “until it wasn’t. Seulgi started to lose energy to do simple chores, she didn’t smile as much, she was always tired, she didn’t even have the energy to drink water. She would leave Dasom in her crib screaming and crying, and Seulgi couldn’t do it. She asked for help. (y/n) I need you to understand this, Seulgi was a good mom, she asked for help, she loved Dasom.” Johnny looked at you frantically.

“Johnny, I don’t doubt Seulgi’s love for her daughter, she asked for help,” you reasoned.

“She asked for help, we got her help. Taeyong took her to see someone, and she was diagnosed with postpartum depression. Taeyong took a step back from work, I took over for him. They were getting Seulgi on antidepressants, Taeyong spent almost all of his time at home with the two of them. She asked for help, she was getting help and she was getting better. Taeyong actually started to get back to work, he didn’t come into the office, but he would answer calls and emails. Seulgi started to smile again, she was eating. Things were getting better.”

“Johnny, what happened? Tell me what happened… please.” Just as you asked the question, you could see the way Johnny’s heart just broke.

“Jisung. Jisung is a street racer, he and the rest of dream go out to races on Friday and Saturday nights. It was a Friday night race. There was this new guy in town, he wanted to race Mark, but Mark is the best, and you don’t just come into town and race the best. So they told this guy that he could race Jisung. Jisung is good, really good, only dream can beat Jisung, so if this guy beats Jisung then he could race Mark. This guy was talking mad shit before the start of the race, saying all kinds of shit about how he was gonna smoke Jisung.”

“He didn’t?” you asked as Johnny refused to look at you.

“It was a clean race, Jisung won, it was clear as day. But this guy didn’t like that, so when Jisung stepped out of his car to collect his winnings, this guy took a bat to the back of Jisung’s head. It took a minute for the rest of dream to come down to where this guy was beating Jisung. Jisung was beaten so badly that the medics that got to the scene said they don’t know if he’s gonna make it. Jeno and Jaemin pulled the guy off of Jisung,” Johnny paused, his emotions mixed, you couldn’t tell if it was guilt, sadness, or maybe anger. “Jeno killed him.” you couldn’t mask the gasp that you let out. You definitely expected Jeno and Jaemin to defend Jisung but to actually murder someone. “When the police arrived at the scene, no one said Jeno killed the guy, but the blood on his fist was a giveaway. They arrested everyone they could.”

“Johnny…” you were at a complete loss for words. You were just sitting next to a murderer while you ate breakfast this morning, even if it was done with good intentions, he murdered someone nevertheless. Jeno had one of the most adorable smiles you had ever seen you could never imagine him murdering someone.

“Mark and Chenle rode with Jisung in the ambulance, they called me when they were on their way to the hospital. I went down to the police station where Jeno, Jaemin, Donghyuck, and Renjun were taken. Told them not to say anything to anyone, got them in touch with Taeil, our lawyer. I got Renjun, Jaemin and Donghyuck out but Jeno had to spend the night there. I already was making plans to post his bail the next day. Just as I was leaving the police station, Taeyong came rushing in. Taeyong is listed as Jisung’s legal guardian on paper, the hospital is required to call him, and they did. When he found out what was going on he came down to the police station. I told him I got it under control, to go home, that everything was fine.”

“He left?”

“Taeyong was away from the house for maybe an hour at most, but that was enough time. Seulgi put Dasom to bed, drew herself a bath, and took the whole bottle of antidepressants. When Taeyong got back home, the police were already there. A maid had found Seulgi when she noticed there was water coming out from the bathroom. Dasom was still sleeping peacefully in the room down the hall. The police declared her dead on the scene; overdose.”

“Johnny this is not your fault, this isn’t anyone’s fault, Seulgi was sick and she-”

“She needed help? Is that what you’re gonna say? She asked and we failed to deliver her proper help,” Johnny broke, his face was clear that he was angry but no one could hide that tear falling.

“Johnny,” you pulled his hand in yours, “you couldn’t have seen this happening, it’s not your fault.”

Johnny nodded his head, willing himself to stop crying, “I know that in my mind of minds, but sometimes when I lay awake at night, all I think is maybe if I called Taeyong when I got the call, he would have never left her alone. That she would be alive right now, If I just made that call.”

“Forgive yourself Johnny, you didn’t know,” Johnny nodded his head. The two of you taking a moment to collect yourselves. “Johnny if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to Taeyong?”

Johnny looked at you and could see exactly the fear to hear more to hear the worse, “he broke. Taeyong threw himself into his work. He fired all the staff that was working at the time, moved out, and had the complete inside of the mansion renovated. He couldn’t, didn’t even look at Dasom for a long long time. She actually stayed with Taeil and his now wife, for almost a year or so. Honestly if it wasn’t for Taeil’s wife, I don’t think Taeyong would have gone back to see Dasom.”

“What do you mean?”

“Taeil’s wife, who was his girlfriend at the time, she would bring Dasom to the office and always make sure to stop by Taeyong’s office, sometimes she would just drive to the house and wait for Taeyong to get home, she would even force Taeyong to come of to their house to see Dasom. Taeyong broke when Seulgi died, it was almost like the piece of him that made him human died along with Seulgi. He got better though. As Dasom grew, Taeyong saw Seulgi in her, and he found the part of himself that he lost.” You couldn’t help but smile a little hearing this. “(y/n), when Seulgi was alive, that first month or so after Dasom was born when the stars aligned and Taeyong was happy,” your smile faltered a little, nodding your head for Johnny to continue on, “there has been only two times since then had I seen Taeyong being close to being that happy. The day he hired you, and the first day of you staying at the mansion.”

“What…” you couldn’t finish your question before Johnny continued.

“You mean a lot to Taeyong, and I don’t completely understand it either, all I know is whenever he talks about you, he smiles, and he rarely smiles.”

“I want to… I want to make him happy, Johnny. I think I've always had feelings for Taeyong but now I think I’m ready to act on them.”

“You do make him happy, him, Dasom, dream, even me.” Johnny smirked now, causing a chuckle from you.

You glanced at the little girl, still in her own world playing with her toys, “I have known Dasom and Taeyong for almost a year now, maybe even a little longer.” You turned back to look at Johnny, “I don't know what to do without them anymore, they are my family.”

Johnny smiled at you now, nodding his head. Just then the doctor called out, you went back, carrying Dasom while Johnny sat in the waiting room for you.

-

When the doctor's visit finished, you were consoling a crying Dasom. When Johnny saw the two of you come out, he immediately jumped to his feet, noticing Dasom crying, Johnny reached behind him for his gun, “what happened?”

“She got a shot,” you patted Dasom’s back, “she’s fine really.”

“Oh,” Johnny said as he visibly calmed down.

You had all your things together, and were ready to walk out the door of the doctor’s office until you remembered you still needed to make another appointment for Dasom. “Johnny take Dasom downstairs, I have to make her follow-up appointment.”

“No, we’ll just wait here for you.” Johnny said, but you wanted Dasom in the car already.

“Nonsense, just take Dasom to the car I’ll be right behind you. She’s already fussy Johnny, please.” Johnny took the little girl reluctantly, leaving you to make the appointment.

You turned back, walking in the office and going up to the receptionist to make the follow-up appointment. As you talked to the lady, you had this gut feeling that something wasn’t right. This gut feeling that someone was watching you. Deciding nothing of it, you pushed away the feelings. You finished up making the appointment quite quickly, and left the doctor’s office. You made your way to the elevators.

As you stood waiting for an elevator, there was a single man that came up to stand behind you, a fair distance away. He seemed to be also waiting for the elevator. You tried to think nothing of it, but now you knew exactly why Johnny wanted to just wait for you. You probably should’ve let him. You would’ve felt better if he was here anyway. You couldn’t tell just exactly what possessed you to make Johnny take Dasom to the car instead of just waiting. It was really quick too, making the follow-up appointment took you all but 3, 4, 5 minutes at most.

Little did you know Johnny had that same exact feeling. He rushed down the stairs, all but sprinting to the car, shoving Dasom into Jisung’s arms, telling him to put her in the car. Then sprinting to the elevators back to you. Catching the last elevator going up, a few people were in the elevator. Johnny felt as if he let Seulgi die by not calling Taeyong soon enough, and he was not gonna let you die by leaving you alone.

The elevator seemed to be taking longer than expected, you started to tap your foot impatiently. You imagined Dasom’s face now, and how much you wanted her to be in your arms. You imagined her playing with her dolls in the living room, while you sat and waited for Taeyong to come home. You imagined taking Dasom to her first day of school, getting her a backpack, and dressing her in her little uniform. You imagined, the first day she would come to you with a boy problem. You imagined the day she would have a school dance, you could dress her up. You imagined her at her graduation, you and Taeyong by her side. You hoped you would be getting this life with her. With both of them. A life with Dasom and Taeyong.

You felt the guy behind you waiting for the elevator stepping closer. You could hear his breathing crystal clear. You could feel the metal barrel pressed into your back, as your spine ran cold. You stiffened, and right there in your mind you declared if you got out of the situation alive, you would never push Johnny away from you.

“Hello, Mrs. Lee” the guy whispered to you.
