“So what’d you get for number 8?” You mindlessly nibbled on the top of your pen, wracking your tired brain for any sort of answer.

“Psh..” Jungkook scoffed as he glanced at his phone- stuffing it away and continuing to pick through the prepackaged food section, checking the date before either moving to the front display or placing into the small basket before him. “You think I’ve started my homework?” He chuckled.

“Kook..” You dragged out and let out a tired groan, letting yourself lay across your open notebook. You took the spot of the cashier, textbook open on the counter as old, overplayed songs softly played throughout the small and currently empty convenience store.

“Y/n..” He mimicked in a playful mocking tone before bringing the basket over to the counter, dumping the contents and holding up a packaged sandwich in one hand. You playfully rolled your eyes as you began to scan, marking them as expired as he placed them back in the basket. It had just turned midnight but whatever.

“Is Jimin coming?” You asked as you began to look for a snack, settling for a chocolate spread sandwich. Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip as he took out his phone, typing away as you began to eat, content with your free food.

“Check the group chat.” He let out a breathy chuckle.

“He is absolutely unbelievable.” Setting your phone down you began to place a couple of the packed foods into a bag.

‘I have arrived!” The bell near the door let out a ring as the mentioned made his appearance.

‘Aw and here I thought you wouldn’t make it.” You pouted with sarcasm as Jimin rolled his eyes with a smirk. Jungkook stood by watching in amusement, their friend had no shame- not that it bothered them.

‘You’re lucky the owner is someone we know or your access wouldn’t be so easy.” Jungkook chuckled.

“Yeah yeah I know,” He waved as he began to look through his goods. “Where can I heat this up?” He held up a burrito as he cocked his brow. You opened your hand, of course you’d let him use the good microwave that was behind the counter. “That's my girl.” He grinned.

Jungkook shot him a weird look but it went unnoticed. “So what’s your plan for tonight?’ He leaned against the counter, crossing his arms.

“I’m just gonna finish up an assignment that's due tomorrow. How long are you guys here till?”

“3 more hours.” You rolled your eyes. You were confused and tired, nothing clicked in today’s class and business was slow tonight. All you wanted to do was go back to your dorm, change into some comfortable clothes and sleep, thanking the fact that you had no class later on.

“Any plans?”

“I have to start on my project for 3D design but that’s about it really.” Jungkook shrugged. The microwave began to beep causing Jimin to lick his lips and rub his hands together in anticipation.

He put his hands together in fake prayer, “thank you food gods,” he looked up to the sky.

“Just shut up and eat the burrito.” You playfully scoffed. He laughed as he took a big bite, a happy groan and a nod, cravings satisfied. Soon enough he was done and needed a distraction before getting back to his gruesome assignment.

“You guys want to do something later?” He asked as he covered his full mouth of food. 

“I’m down.” Jungkook shrugged as he nodded your way. You nodded in agreement.

“I heard they opened a new skating rink. “ Jimin's eyes lit up as he began to speak. After confirming plans the conversation drifted to a subject you wanted to rather avoid: that stupid love alarm app.

“Oh c’mon it’s not that bad (y/n)!” Jimin teased.

“Says you,” you gave him a look. “Have you downloaded it yet?”

“Why yes I have.” He said matter-of-factly, crossing his arms over his chest with a sigh.

“You haven’t even opened the app yet have you…” You knew it was your turn to tease him as Jungkook just laughed throughout the whole exchange.

“No, to be honest Hobi’s event has scared me.” He said, causing you all to laugh.

“Oh my god that’s so weird, isn’t she married? Why is she ringing alarms? I’m so confused. Do they think this is a student/teacher au-“ Jungkook shuddered.

“Thankfully this is his last year.” Jimin grinned, “But in all seriousness, are you guys gonna go through with this app?”

“I mean I’d be up to it but to be honest..” Jungkook paused, “I don’t know really.”

“And you?” Jimin nodded your way as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes.

“What about me?”

“If not the app then what?”

“Ok to be honest,” You slapped the table as they looked at you with raised brows. “I want to meet someone the old fashion way or something. I don’t know. Like those cheesy cliche movies or something..”

“Do you even step outside enough to do so?” Jimin teased.

“Shut your mouth.”

“Any valid reason for you Kookie?” You stared at him.

“I guess..” Jungkook began to mindlessly scratch his arm, staring off into space. “I guess I’m afraid of not having my alarm ring. I know it’s supposed to help avoid more heartbreak but maybe we’re- I'm better off wondering.” he sighed. “I don’t wanna confess like an idiot and then have that stupid app not ring back, it shouldn’t matter to me but I don’t wanna go ahead and ruin things if they’re fine for right now.”

A silence followed, as Jimin nodded in understanding and you agreed with him. Plus you just didn’t want to base your love on an app. Maybe it’d be helpful but you liked the idea of butterflies. The secrecy, the buildup, the big sigh of relief of it being all over and that happy ending. Perhaps the angsts of constantly asking “What if?” Who knows, maybe the app shows the physical attraction but would it be enough to build a confident relationship off of? ‘Oh my god we ring each other's alarm because we’re physically attracted to each other! Let’s rush into it all!’ The app had just been released and already people were swearing left and right about it. The future of it was unknown but maybe you’d be desperate enough to download, one day.

“Who knows maybe I’ll meet someone here who also dislikes that stupid app and fall in love.” You joked.

“Maybe…” Jungkook chewed on his lip, thinking.

“It can’t be that bad.” Jimin ran a hand through his hair. “I’d say to just have fun with it, live a little ya’know?”

“Maybe,” You gave in, “Maybe I’m just old and bitter about technology advancing.” You chuckled. “It’s been a long night and this app is all I’ve heard about today.”

“I get it.” He began to collect his things, “I’m gonna head back and stop procrastinating. You guys good?”

“I’m exhausted but I have a redbull in my backpack.” Jungkook grinned as he gave him a thumbs up.

“Alright,” He chuckled as he made his way to the door. “Don’t work too hard guys, see you later!”

You both waved him off as he turned around, not even getting to exit as he made contact with another person.

“Oh shit I’m so sorry man,” He looked up from his bag to a tired college boy.

Bags under his eyes and hair all hidden under a black cap, he shook his head with a tsk. “Don’t worry, it’s my bad.” The deep voice threw Jimin for a loop, recognizing it as one of Hobi’s friends, well both of them stood before him, Namjoon shooting an apologetic look from behind Yoongi.

He croaked out a small ‘excuse me’ leaving before the pink on his cheeks gave away his flustered stare. How great for me, he thought.
