symbolism notes under the cut:

these are just my own interpretations of the skk dynamic obviously.

- red camellias: love passion etc but contrasted with

- blue hydrangeas: death, regret, apology. and, most importantly for skk here, rejection (including romantic) and emotional distance. dazai and chuuya are not the most forthcoming of people and dazai is shit and distant and cold. they are funeral flowers too so beast au dazai, well, . yeah. that.

- the stems of the blue hydrangeas are bound with dazais bandages! this is pretty self explanatory

- dazai is depicted entirely using an outline, like a shadow. he disappeared for 4 years, but skk is so much a part of each other's lives that dazais shadow follows chuuya in everything he does, hence the absent, hollow form posed behind (and over) chuuya

- the bandages wrapped around look a little bit like bones from afar, specifically ribs. ribs contain the heart, and also the lungs. there's one pair of ribs on each side of the canvas. skk is extremely codependent, and each is one half of a whole person. they share 1 pair of lungs, 1 set of ribs, etc. the red lines also do make the flower petals look like innards.

- church window: the entire backdrop looks like one because of chuuyas devotion. something akin to worship. he's so.................... dedicated. this is his god and he won't ever let go.

- the way chuuya is painted but the rest is a glass frame around him........ he's bound in this painting of his own doing. he can leave & walk away, but chooses not to

- the blood: can you believe the most important part of this actually has no meaning. i just think chuuya with a nosebleed is good

- kind of a stretch but the lines can also represent cracks in the glass window. unhealthy relationship tag.

- xi, la force, is the major arcana for strength. this is just a direct reference to the double black partnership and how chuuya is the muscle and dazai is the brain

- dazai has 2 little stars over his head. like a wish, like a north star. something chuuya will always head home to
