★ — It does put Gregory somewhat at ease that Devon doesn't seem keen to force him into anything he doesn't want to do. He's actually listening to him, instead of insisting that Gregory's fear and worries are unfounded or that he knows best as the security guard. Gregory gives a little ; his shoulders relax, lowering the flashlight and clicking it off ( he knows better than to waste the power like that, and in a moment of clarity he mentally kicks himself for doing so for so long ) before taking in a deep breath to alleviate some of his nerves.

Hiding isn't good enough, not for the long term, but he nods along anyways — at the very least, it would be nice to have a safe space of sorts, somewhere he can catch his breath for a moment without fear that the animatronics would find him at any second. Sure, he had Freddy, but even with as small as Gregory was, the animatronics stomach hatch was awfully tight and wasn't ideal.

"I can go get it. I've already been in the gift shop tonight. I know my way around."

Spoken with confidence, masking his earlier fear with a sense of blind bravery. Gregory had been sneaking around the animatronics all night ; he could keep going, especially when he knew where he was going, was familiar with the hiding spots. He doesn't mention the fazwatch, even though its blatantly present on his wrist. Surely it could be used to communicate, but Gregory would rather keep his way of reaching Freddy separate from the security guard, still wary that he may turn on him.

"I was also gonna go to ...." ( a pause ). " —— Monty golf. Freddy said the cameras there could maybe be used to stun the animatronics. It seemed worth a shot."

Not a complete lie — he was hoping to get something to defend himself in the smallest way he could, though his intended destination was fazerblast.

❝ alright, then we'll think of something else. i promise i'm gonna help you get out of here, kiddo. i know you're scared. ❞ HE CAN HEAR IT IN GREGORY'S VOICE, the fear. it breaks devon's heart, seeing that he's just a scared little kid. there has to be SOME WAY he can help the kid. even if it's just giving him direction himself. he knows freddy's been helping, but there's only so much the animatronic can do. no one knows this building like devon, he's spent so many nights alone wandering the place and finding every nook and cranny. there has to be somewhere safe gregory can hide.

HE THINKS FOR A MOMENT, racking his brain for ANY hiding place he can think of. there's really nowhere the animatronics can't go, nothing's off limits to them. the only place that is would be devon's office, but if they're not following programming, they could easily disregard protocol and barge in anyway. ❝ no one knows this place like i do, i'll find somewhere for you to hide. and a way for us to stay in touch. i'm sure having a security guard on your side would be helpful, since it doesn't seem like vanessa's been very kind to you. ❞

THAT'S WHAT BAFFLES HIM THE MOST, vanessa's usually so sweet. sure, devon didn't trust her at all when they first met, the energy radiating off of her just REEKED of william, but she's grown on him. she genuinely seems to like her job, which isn't something devon can say. he's never liked working for fazbear entertainment, he used to do it just to keep the lights on, but now he does it for the safety of children. something the company itself seems to completely disregard most of the time. he looks closer at the kid, trying to get him to calm down somehow. god, there has to be a way he can keep in contact with gregory without getting in his head.

HE'S ALREADY BEEN IN VANNY'S HEAD TONIGHT, begging her to stop, to leave gregory alone, that he's just a kid. he's not going to subject gregory himself to that. it can be extremely frightening to hear someone else's voice in your head. ❝ there should be, like, novelty walkie - talkies in the gift shop. i'm not sure if they restocked them. i can't really check from here, i don't have access to the cameras right now. if they're not on the shelf, there should be some in a box in the stock room. i'm not going to ask you to get them by yourself, you've done enough running for one night. ❞
