One of my all-time favorite dresses from Alexander McQueen's incredible fashion archive. This eye-catching dress comes from McQueen's iconic VOSS collection, Spring/Summer 2001. The skirt is made of red-and-black dyed ostrich feathers while the bodice is crafted out of red handpainted glass medical slides. This particular piece (albeit in a slightly modified version) was famously worn by Icelandic singer-songwriter, Björk, during a concert performance at the Royal Opera House as part of her "Vespertine" tour. Björk and McQueen have a long-established personal and working relationship, with the avant-garde British designer having styled the eccentric Icelandic musician for her "Homogenic" album cover, directed her in the "Alarm Call" music video", and the two being paired together for a showstopping music-and-fashion-show performance at the 2003 Fashion Rocks event.
